    1:30 - The contract fee is actually from the guild, and is refunded if you clear the quest. It's meant to prevent inexperienced hunters from failing quests over and over while costing the guild a lot of money to transport and heal them.

    One really effective item to bring on certain hunts are flash bombs. Most of the time if a monster is flashed they will just stand there and spam their weak attacks. They dont have diminishing returns either (same with traps) so you can bring the combines for them too.

    ah yes, if you start with freedom unite, this gets baked into your strategy for the rest of the series. Friends and I played Freedom unite, and I went on to play through the series. We later met up in Sunbreak, and behold, i noticed them ritually putting down mega barrel bombs when the monster was down. Just like old times...

    Oh man I remember my first Tigrex I’ve ever hunted in FU, which was just about a year ago (after having known the game for more than a decade). It felt amazing, and you can only go up from there.
    For me, the first wall was Village Khezu, partly because my old PSP had its analog stick broken, but also it was a 10-year-old kid skill issue

    one of the best ways to manage MHFU is with the Poison Battle-axe. Gypceros materials, poison ticks, decent sharpness, and quick movement due to being SnS. Pair that with Hornfly armor and you're set for a while.

  • @CakeofPokke

    So glad that I got a chance to witness your first ever capture in MHFU live on Twitch stream. You caught a Tiggy no less! 😃👍 Way to go, Bata! Also, since you're cheesing with sleep bombing already anyways, might I suggest Flashpod cheesing also? Not saying flash him the whole time. Non-enraged Tiggy is easy enough to handle. But as soon as he becomes enraged, flash him & shoot the heck out of that poor blind thing. Once flash wears off, Tiggy only has a few seconds left on enraged timer. You just need to play very cautiously for a few secs. Then he calms down so you can fight him normally again. Rinse & repeat. Best of luck & Happy Hunting, Bata ❤

  • @HunterGendo
    @HunterGendo 2 года назад +10

    My favourite old school tigrex exploit was the greatsword technique. You made a specific gs and time it's attacks (very predictable back then) and get a guaranteed flinch out of him. Made him very manageable

    • @ackmedzambosama5327
      @ackmedzambosama5327 2 года назад +4

      doesnt sound like an exploit to me

    • @ShatteredGlass916
      @ShatteredGlass916 2 года назад +2

      Any monsters that shares the skeleton with Tigrex suffers from this, like Nargacuga. As a GS user, stand behind their hind legs at roughly 4:00 o'clock direction, with Narga's head at 12:00 o'clock, then charge towards the middle of the body. If you didn't have any Focus skills, the timing would be perfect because when they turned, their head always lands to where the GS hits

    • @LSDOvideos
      @LSDOvideos 2 года назад +1

      @@ShatteredGlass916 Almost every monster suffers from this to an extent. The vast majority of my playtime using GS was exploiting the monster sluggishly turning around. Rathalos and rathian can be got the same way after they do a charge and lunge, and rajang is open when he turns around

    • @DarkOminigiri
      @DarkOminigiri 2 года назад

      @@LSDOvideos lao shan, shen gaoren, gravios is bad matchup with gs unless you tell me how to deal with them. Sounds like your a gs expert to me.

    • @LSDOvideos
      @LSDOvideos Год назад

      @@DarkOminigiri Lao shan lung is pretty easy. You don't even really need a strategy. When he's walking, just stand at around halfway along his belly, do a fully charged hit, roll forward once or twice, repeat.
      For shen gaoren it's not much different. Wear tremor resist armor (blangonga) and sus out which of his feet is safe to stand next to in that moment. Then just cycle through charged slash and a wide/upwards slash depending on your positioning (wide slash pushed you a bit forward, upwards slash pushes you back a bit).
      Gravios and Black gravios are a complete nightmare with GS. The main strategy you want to go for is to use barrel bombs to break its belly armor, then just fuck around for 50 minutes waiting for him to do a laser beam that doesn't also shoot out the black smoke that explodes. His belly is his only real weak point, so focus on that. It's not easy! The high rank mandatory B Gravios quest is legit the least fun I had in any game ever. For high rank I made a dedicated bow build (the bow escapes me, but at some point you either get an item from trenya, or as a treasure that you mine/dig up, that you can turn into a HR water bow. I used this for gravios and b.gravios.)
      Extra tips: For rathalos, the best time to hit him in the head is to start chargin your slash while he's landing. Stand like a hunter's length away from the black shadow on the ground as he's landing, and the moment he lands you will be ready to hit him on the head right away. This technique helps especially against silver rathalos who likes to fly a lot. This strategy also works very good against Fatalis. Of course, for the raths, when they run, they'll eventually end their charging attack by lunding forward and sliding on the ground. This is a good time to start charging behind them to hit their head.
      For plesioth, he's actually quite vulnerable when he does the spinning around attack. If you position yourself between his legs correctly you can get a charged hit on his belly. Otherwise focus on doing draw attacks on his belly when he's doing the water jet attack.
      For diablos, if you shock him out of the ground with a sound bomb, you can do a charged attack on his lower back/tail. Then, when he flies up out of the sand, you can do a sideways slash, then an overhead slash (or vice versa), the start charging. You should be able to hit a fully charged slash while he's landing (but not on the ground yet. His tail, the weakest point, will be hanging very low and very much in reach).

  • @JadeIsBunny

    Biggest exploit tbh is the blos dying to pellet spam. In OG Freedom, you could get a guaranteed monoblos heart by killing it whilst in a pitfall trap. You'd guarantee this by shooting it while it burrows, which is when it can't be killed. There's a really nice early blademaster armor you can get as well with sharpness+1 and earplugs

    • @JadeIsBunny
      @JadeIsBunny 2 года назад +1

      arena quests also reward you more the more items are left in your inventory, so after killing the monster you can search in the rubbish piles for extra traps and flash bombs. they also can significantly shorten the time to hunt a monster with certain weapons (strategy? in MY monhun??)
      i recommend learning hammer now, some monsters later on are just not worth it with LBG.

    god i love old monster hunter. i do think world brought allot of necessary changes to combat. i do think things got a bit too crazy in ice borne. then became WAY too much in rise. but if it could be balanced like base world but add all this immersive stuff from the old games it will be the best mh ever imo. (at least my ideal monster hunter)
    i understand why old mh might have been too clunky for others. but world was fine. repositioning was still important unlike in rise. the clutch claw and some moves added in iceborne might have been a bit too much but the idea of switch skills from rise to have a more simplified versions of styles is good in my book.

    • @SoulScizorXD

      Let me try to give some tips on facing Tigrex with a Light Bowgun; for more casual play, not speedrunning.
      First things first, keep your distance. I'd say somewhere around where Normal shot critical distance ends and where Pierce shot critical distance starts is a good distance away.
      His main weak point is the head, and that's the only >45 hitzone on him for gunners. The next best spot is his arms, but it's only a hitzone of 35, so it's not your primary spot for damage. Do give them some attention for flinches, however. It's not too hard to get the topple, just takes some work.
      When you first get his attention he always roars. Take the opportunity to place some stickies on his head, it only takes a few well placed stickies to get the stun. Be sure to follow the head as he raises it to roar.
      His main attack he loves to do is charge, and it can come in a few flavors. Always act on the assumption that he will do two actions minimum in a charge. He loves to do a charge into a spin or a double bite. If you're facing him dead on as he charges you'll want to either Fanning Maneuver to one of his sides, or do two to three evades to the side. If you're at the proper distance you should have plenty of time to avoid the first charge on reaction. Be sure to give him plenty of clearance when he goes for his follow up, the spin has quite a lot of reach. If he double bites it'll be almost instant after the charge, but the spin has him charge it for a second at the end of his charge attack. If he throws rocks one evade to the side should get you in between two of the rocks, it's not hard to avoid as a gunner frankly.
      Once you've laid into him a bit he'll enrage. This also always happens with a roar, stay clear of the area right in front of him and you'll be fine. This is around when he'll start doing multiple charges in a row, with follow ups at the end. Same spacing rules apply, just watch what he does and focus on staying out of his reach. His jumps can be annoying but usually rolling towards him takes a lot of the threat out of it. He can do that in his initial state too. Really there's not much more to it than that, avoiding the charges and constantly staying out of spin range keeps you safe from 90% of his kit. Don't try to punish ongoing charges especially when enraged and you should be fine. Eventually he'll tire out and you should have him on the ropes by then.
      As for Heavy Bowgun? Sticky cheese him to death and feel no shame while doing it.

You could maybe get one shot as a gunner, on the other hand, you could probably do way better as a gunner since people cheese blos with pellet since the shots "magnet" towards the tail/tailstub which is a weakspot. Now, my new wall is the Rajang and I'm stuck for a long time. I'd like to raise my rank, but I'm also stuck against the Shen Gaoren in multi.

    For any new comers to Freedom Unite don't neglect your farm in general, it is tedious at times and yes it will feel slow but its worth it to upgrade and collect everything from the various farm points after each hunt. As you upgrade you naturally get the chance to farm rarer stuff from the different farm points which can save you some time in ore/mushroom/fish/insect collecting but it also gives you more chances to net lower rank items to sell. It may seem insignificant but by the end of low rank you would have multiple stacks of 99 of items like iron ore and honey and what not that you can sell off for good money which helps significantly later on as weapons and armour become more expensive.

      The farm is the most important part of every hunt imo. You won't realize just how much time you can save by it when you unlocked a new equipment and find you're lacking that one resource you need that you can get in the farm, but the best thing about the farm is getting you a ton of money early on to basically make money issues non existent. It's really that good

    Tigerex in FU is like the Anganath and Nergigante in World when it first came out. Major choke points for hunters that are still pretty wet.

    Good luck doing the guild quests idk if you can play with others (as was intended) since servers might be shut down due to how old the game is. Sadly it's the only way for G-Rank - the true monster hunter experience.

    The last cheese seems like a purely gunner exclusive, I mean yeah as a greatsword user I probably could make Tigrex eat a sleep meat but its definetly gonna be pretty tough.

    Dunno much but if you're a Gunner main then it's understandable that Tigrex would wall you at some point, that thing ALWAYS spams very fast rush attacks when you're far away like you owe him money. A combination of his roar(unless you're wearing earplugs) + the rushing attack will always guarantee a hit from him.

    what Cheese strat i did with the gathering hub urgent vs 2 tigrex was: when both where in the same area i got them near a loading Zone, went the the different area, reload then went back shoot them immediatly like 1-3 shots and rolled Back to the safe area.
    the thing is in Freedom Unite when you just got into a loading Zone it Puts you like 1 1/2 rolls away from the loading Zone so.
    i am not proud but i was also frustrated with 2 tigrex.

    Tigrex really was a wall for most of us. when i started playing FU, it was after freedom so i already had a bit of experience and still i couldn't manage to kill it. so i gave up. soon mhp3rd was released and i play thousand of hours of it. and only then, after becoming really good with the game and doing GS naked run against tigrex in P3rd for hours was i ready to go back to FU to kill that wall.

    I dont feel like you cheesed the Tigrex. It was the perfect Method for the perfect predicament in your Monster Hunter experience. :D
    In my opinion, Its not a wall, if you can still think of new strategies you havent tried yet =). Adapting while "not moving forward" is also progress. Cant wait to play that game :D. Nice video
