Chris, stretching tenses and stresses muscles. Massage gun loosens muscles which is really what you need. Stretching after the gun is ok but the gun is what you need
Chris/Will-Thank you for keeping it honest. As buyers, we often can’t/don’t pre-test every paddle we buy. We rely on you guys to be the honest voice for us.
I never buy 1st run of any new production model in any product; car, computer, home appliances, NOTHING! It's like the 70's all over again, when you bought a new car the dealership would tell you to bring it back in a month or two and they'll fix everything that's broken for free. You knew you were buying a broken car.
Even at $100 it shouldn’t be crushing!!! I think we all have a warped sense of a dollar! I mean this shows even more we are becoming immune to us being in a Throwaway Society
My Hyperion 14mm lasted less than 3 play sessions and has a rattle so pushed on the face and it's starting to crunch. Tried to submit a warranty claim and system was down 😞
Maraca-like sounds after a couple games to 11. After two to three days, captain crunch pressing into the face. This is for both Magnus and Scorpeus 16. 😡 No, I’m not a fan dealing with warranty.
Love your podcast guys. For once I feel like I have something to chime in on: Chris, it's not really about stretching, but about improving your functional range. Strengthen your body IN the deep positions that require you to be more flexible. Similar to how yoga might put you in these positions, but you can add more movement, and more load. This will help your body adapt to the new demands. Also, day of, warm up first, that's much more important and will enhance any stretching or flexibility exercises you do. Keep up the great work. And for the record, my Scorpeus 3 hasn't had issues yet after about 20 hours of playing...
I think its an important distinction...is it "breaking in" or slowly deteriorating each use until the paddle is no longer useful? To me a break in is the paddle changes over a couple of weeks and settles in and plays consistently for a long while.
2 of my Gen 3 Anna Brights make sounds, are uncontrollable, and the spin is diminishing. They were great for the first 2 weeks. Back to my Mach 2 Forza 14mm. 😢
My old gearbox cx14 still sits in my bag 1.5 years later after hammering it for a year and still works just like it was when new… I’ve moved on to other paddles, but she is still there, old reliable. Don’t think I could break it if I tried.
Interesting for me to hear all of these recent reviews on Joola. I’ve had all the way from Gen 1-3 and I’ve never experienced any of these issues. Maybe I’m one of the lucky one but I don’t feel that issues are as common as the internet makes them appear.
Played against a good player (4.0+) today who had a Joola Gen3 Perseus. I’m happy to support a ban on those things. I’ve never seen a pickleball move like that (spin and power).
If these paddles are truly getting more and more powerful as time goes by, they are risking a lawsuit. Someone is going to get hurt . concussions are possible. I heard that one person got a concussion on the pro tour. I can see amateurs going crazy with this paddle, not controlling it and hitting people in the head and in the eye and in the nose and doing some serious damage. The question is who is responsible the manufacturer or the user. The user knew his paddle is getting more powerful as time goes byand continued to use iteven after it exhibited core crushing. Howie B

No. Not at all. Pressing with just your thumbs isn’t going to have nearly the impact that hitting a hard ball that’s going 40+ mph is going to have. If it can’t withstand pressing with your thumbs (even pressing hard) it can’t withstand gameplay. These paddles are all just garbage.
No, because I’ve pounded on Gen 1 paddles trying to break them, cut them open and tried to crush them with my hand and nothing happens. Most people are not applying enough force with their hand to do any damage to the core.

The price and quality of these new "power" paddles have been 💩. I always go back to my 2X, which still has core crushing issues, just not after 2 week of use. 🤣😭

Great pod. Glad I held back on the ONI. No way a face sheet can "stay put" when a core material is moving and changing like they do.Floating cores will have durability issues. There are foams out there that are solid and are not injected, but the labor to build a paddle using them would take a lot more time. Don't pay any attention to those REDIT fools.! No more invites to Joolla releases for you Chris😆 Back problems at 70 are a bitch. Arthritis and bulging discs are my thing. Stretching is key to stay on the court. Sitting is the killer. Rec players don't have PT Trainers to work em like the pros.
Guys, I think it would be great if yoiu added to your paddle reviews the play of different paddles in relation to the skill level of the player. I find that some paddles are better suited for different skill levels and playing style. For full disclosure I am a Six Zero guy, and the DBD still is one of (if not the) best paddles for 3.0 - 4.5 (maybe 4.35) player. As someone expressed to me the DBD increases the efficiency of the skill level of the player. Six Zero has proven to be consistent with a pretty uniform quality during the life of the paddle. .....Thoughts?
Exactly why I never will buy a Jolla. Their QC is non exsist and has been that way for years. Many of my friends rushed out to buy these and now we all have to wonder about them. Ridiculous!
Gen 3 14 Scorpeus Gen 3 14 Perseus turned in today top has BB rattle sound and crunch after ONE week. Completely lost confidence Joola now I have to get refund from my poor ambassador. Selling garbage at top price point to pay for all the player sponsorship at the sake of the people. Gearbox is indestructible these are just broke. They don’t harder they end up hitting clunky and flat!
I would love to do a poll. Where are people these days in pickleball? 0.0-4.5 rec 50% buy a paddle - use it forever. 25% buy a paddle under $100. Will replace in 2-5 years 15% will pay over $100 because “they like tech” 10% will follow the host Will and Pickleball Chris 10% but all the paddles and play them all cause it’s too fun not too!

No way a face sheet can "stay put" when a core material is moving and changing like they do.Floating cores will have durability issues. There are foams out there that are solid and are not injected, but the labor to build a paddle using them would take a lot more time.
Don't pay any attention to those REDIT fools.! No more invites to Joolla releases for you Chris😆
Back problems at 70 are a bitch. Arthritis and bulging discs are my thing. Stretching is key to stay on the court. Sitting is the killer. Rec players don't have PT Trainers to work em like the pros.
6 days in no crunch!
not yet...
Two days in crunch….
@@123BV8 ouch. Sorry to hear
0.0-4.5 rec
50% buy a paddle - use it forever.
25% buy a paddle under $100. Will replace in 2-5 years
15% will pay over $100 because “they like tech”
10% will follow the host Will and Pickleball Chris
10% but all the paddles and play them all cause it’s too fun not too!
PaddleTek marketing actually did a great job avoiding a PR disaster with the name. Imagine if instead of TKO-C it was just KO-C. Not a good look! Lol
With respect to deflection; what type of testing is required, equipment used and acceptable range? You guys are "crushing it"😅. So many new variables!! I am keeping my broke legacy so I have the power of the Joola and Gearbox😂😂😂😎
