Dude just get yourself Odin 2, Steam Deck or upcoming Retroid Pocket 4/4+ and you can play PS2, GameCube, Wii, DreamCast library. Ever since I got my RP3+ and Odin 2 I haven't picked up my vita since then.

Also it really wasn't a mod but a full remake of team fortress 2 so Valve is kinda right, the mod team also was hosting Valve's asset which raises some red flags.
It's something I've asked myself for a long time but I think I have a good idea about the issue. 1st you have to acknowledge that the Vita failing was Sony's own doing, they stopped supporting it and left many studios that scored hit games in the PsP era in the dust . Some died, some went to mobile, PC, later Switch, whatever. 2nd Sony probably realized that to beat M$ in their futile console war VS XboX, supporting two consoles that can't run the same games was NOT possible. The PS3 had a very rough beginning because it was too expensive and only became successful near its end of life. When the PS4 came out, failing wasn't an option thus the Vita had to go... 3 when you look at 2023 and even the beginning of this year with all the massive layoffs in the videogame industry, it gives more perspective as to why having 2 different systems to feed with games is just nuts. 4 there are rumors about a Vita 2 for 2026 and it has to be able to run ps4 games natively and ps5 ones with patches, and if it fails to reach that goal with decent battery life it'll most likely never see the light of day because as explained above, it's just not profitable to have different systems that run different games.
I love the Vita. Just such a perfect handheld. I wish I had more time to tinker like this. I’ll just be happy if it can play all my old systems I grew up with- NES, SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, and maybe a bit of N64. Oh- don’t forget about game boy & game boy advance! I don’t know where to start though… I do have mine modded…. But am unsure how to get retro arch running on it. Or the other emulators.
We are so lucky to have ps vita device when it has no chance to play without hacks but nowadays its get amazing news and it will continue. Viva la vita!
I really need to get a vita 1000 this year, i got the 2000 mostly because of the charging port, battery life, and internal storage, but honestly i mostly play at home and internal storage isn't as big of a deal with a modded vita, so now im kicking nyself in the butt for not getting that beautiful oled screen

all the games i wanted ported to vita from ps2 were Spiderman 2 and Resident Evil 4. but i just got aesthersx2 on my phone and connect my dualshock4 controller to it and it runs basically every game perfectly (ya just gotta know which settings to change to enhance the performance)
I'm happy with all these updates and ports but I'm too old now to play games that requires a lot of pressing stuffs, not a fan of metroidvania games as well😢 my vita 2k is full of jrpg games, mostly turned based. I'm hoping they will port some Jrpg 😢
You seee this must my unlucky month, because I just made a bid yesterday ended up getting one of the psp vita for 90 usd and it would have taken an extra 30 usd due to international shipping, I am hoping I'd till have time to install and mod some of the ds games while enjoying ps1,vita ,psp games before it's too late. edit: It hasn't arrived yet and it will take a month before it gets here let's hope no one steals it along the way.

My right stick constantly moves to the left (sometimes top left and sometimes bottom left) and I've tried cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol but it didn't work. 90% of the Vita library is unplayable with this issue going on. I'm prepared to open up my vita but I wanna know what the issue is and how to fix it first.

The true problem is about T2 lawyers, let's not forget what happened to the poor dev behind the GTA re3 project and it was just a reverse engineering project, let alone what it may happen with a port of an illegally leaked source code game
