You will man. For me much of this comes from just not spending money on other stuff. I rarely go out for drinks or food, and keep my bills in good shape. Otherwise I couldn’t justify this equipment

I do not spend much on those, despite I'm being a musician, which means I cannot avoid completely going out once in a while and spending some on musical toys.. unless for that going out is not so popular nowadays. However, my main problems are, first my local currency which lost so much value in front of the dollar and euro in the last period, and second are my country custom taxes are mental. Stuff usually gets here by double the price.. big and heavy things suffer a lot more on that matter. My best opportunities to afford such things is while traveling abroad. Thankfully I managed to save some money and when I have the opportunity to travel again this DD wheel system is something I'm keeping a close eye on. Fingers crossed this pandemic can end soon enough. Love your videos btw. Have a good one m8 :)
I’ve owned my Podium DD2 for a year now. You’d think I’d have let go of all my resentments towards Fanatec by now for the janky QR system on a $1500 25nm wheel base. Nope. A tiny Chinese company is kicking your ass Fanatec.
Yep the fanatec QR doesn’t do it for me at all. Simagic are doing a decent job I think. They need to lunch their site and not depend on Facebook so much, it they’ve got a great product.

Hey there, awesome video. Right at 6:11 in your video it looks as though the m10 is mounted from the bottom. Do you recommend this or have any info? Of course it's possibly but the m10 has a lip where it's not flush. Have you just mounted it with a little space between the base and the rig? or perhaps it's stock footage you're using. It’s all my footage. I can’t remember having issues with a lip at the bottom. In theory, spacers the height of the lip should work as long as the bolts are tight
i'm new to the SIMAGIC ecosystem and was recomended by a friend to pick Alpha Mini Direct Drive Wheelbase instead of the Fanatec CSL DD. I was originally going for the Fanatec CSL DD because I really wanted to use the Podium NASCAR wheel rim. Is there a way to use this wheel rim on this base and if so what would be the neccesary items for it?

Is the Simagic QR compatible with the stock Cammus base qr? They look very similar, I've been looking at the Simagic GT Pro Hub for it's clutch paddles and an aftermarket wheel. Would be nice if it just worked (USB connection of course)
the cammus wheels fit on simagic but simagic/moza don't fit on the cammus. You can file down the cammus base side QR or replace it with a simagic base side QR.
Hahaha! In fairness, fanatec has some ‘problems’. Firstly, it’s not wireless. But it also need to be backwards compatible. Changing their quick release system could cost them many loyal customers
Looking at adding this to an SC2 Pro, does the kit from Digital Motorsports include the motor-side part of the QR mount? The pictures seem to only show the wheel-side mount and there doesn't seem to be a motor-side mount, is there any way to mount this to a non-SM base? Any help would be appreciated.
The kit doesn’t include the motor side part of the QR unless you buy a base. There are ways I’m sure but I’m not really in a position to talk as I haven’t done it myself.
What about those ebay/aliexpress NRG style quick release? Are those reliable or campatible? Will they damage thye Simagic wheel base QR? I was worried they will have different Manufacturing tolerances that might damage the base or get wobble after few months of heavy use.

I did choose... Simagic all the way. Software is strong. I have been using mine for 6 months now and it is great. Fanatec is good but Simagic wins for me.

Great info! I ordered the Cube Controls Formula Pro and Alpha Mini and wondered how I would mary those two together. The Alpha Mini came with a GT1 wheel as a bundled kit. Can you fit the NRG quick release to the Cube Controls? I'm thinking buying a NRG quick release on Amazon and put it on the Cube Controls that way I don't have to remove the cable from the Sim Magic GT1 wheel. I fell in-love with Fanatec but with the advent of the Sim Magic Mini Alpha, Fanatec became a thing of the past... You can buy any aftermarket steering wheel and mount it to the Sim Magic! It's like MAGIC!! Thanks!
@@LaurenceDusoswa Quick update, the NRG QR gen 2.0 that I bought on Amazon here in the US the male portion of the base is bigger in diameter and will not fit on the Alpha Mini but the female fits perfectly but I had to twist and turn the collar so the ball bearings will snap in place the lock the collar in place. I just received my Alpha Mini and GT4 rim. i was so excited. Now Idk what to do. It seems when i popped the spring the red shell got stuck. there is absolutely no movement. I can't retract the red piece. it's completely stuck.
Do you know if the qr works with a normal dd 70mm hub? As in i can buy both ends and mount it to a different platform. Was looking at mounting this to my t300 with a tm qr to 70mm adaptor.

Hello, if i order GT1 wheel do you know if it comes with the big quick release? Also is it possible to assign the 4 buttons on the wheel to ingame settings instead of them controlling the rotation of the wheel?
Gt1 has big qr installed already. Yes all buttons are assignable in game. They only do rotation when you flick the switch at the back to put it in maintenance/config mode

Hahaha I was in the same boat a few years ago. It’s all good though :) I think a formula style rim and a round or d shaped rim are must haves for a higher end setup. But a good round rim makes it hard to justify buying an open rim

I’ve owned my NRG products (in the video) for 6 years now and they have the same design. Can you point me in the direction of a ‘proper quick release’ please? Genuinely curious to see if there are easier and quicker systems out there.
So, to avoid sounding like a dick, which obviously I’ve come across as, I’ve changed the title from “best quick release ever”. There will always be better, for different reasons. I just think it’s the best but shouldn’t force that opinion on you guys either.
I don't know why you said he never used a proper quick release. This one is a D1spec used on real car. I would never user a quick release from Thrustmaster or Fanatec in a real car !

My Fanatec quick release sytem only takes about half an hour to change wheels.

i'm not sure. but even if you get it mounted to a QR, don't expect any buttons to work. I think the nascar wheel doesn't have buttons anyways

It depends on the rim really. Just make sure the bolt isn’t too long.

They connect via USB, just like they always did. Simucube wireless wont work on the simagic wheelbases.
Want to try a Sim Magic Wheel and base there is no where in Brisbane, Australia where I can try one out sadly.

There’s no desk mount for it. A desk mount for DD would break pretty quickly

I have never tried, but I guess it could be possible. You would need to do a usb conversion on your fanatec rims though.

You can buy the mini with or without a quick release usually. It’s slightly more expensive than without.
But yes, the Simagic quick release will bolt right up with a nardi. My nardi fits just fine

So, to avoid sounding like a dick, which obviously I’ve come across as, I’ve changed the title from “best quick release ever”. There will always be better, for different reasons. I just think it’s the best but shouldn’t force that opinion on you guys either.
I don't know why you said he never used a proper quick release. This one is a D1spec used on real car. I would never user a quick release from Thrustmaster or Fanatec in a real car !
