I like these new designs, wireless rims, little to no pins present. This is one of the reasons I went with MOZA and not fanatecs offerings. I have seen so many people posting weird issues with cracking and knocking QRs and even seen a couple bent and utterly destroyed quick-releases (plastic) one, hoever even with the metal one I've seen random disconnections and knocking sounds.
My DD1 is closer and closer to going up for sale. We need more Simpit, this was the original channel I always went to and it is still great today, although I do miss the entire original gang
Sold my DD2 a little over a year ago. Got a SC2 Pro. So much happier. I think Fanatecs great for entry and mid level gear. For high end direct drive that requires a real QR. I think Fanatec has failed. They should have at least released the QR2 before the CSL DD. Nope! They don’t care about the Podium line much.
I have the M10 with the GT1 round rim (leather not Alcantara) and the GT4 rim as well. The pedals are in the near future for me. I love this system. Also if you really wanted to use another rim you can use USB rims from other manufacturers and buy a quick release from a Simagic distributor. I bought an extra quick release and a cheap carbon fiber Huracan replica rim off eBay. I use the button box from the GT1 rim with the Huracan rim and 3D printed a spacer for the round rim. I only use the round rim for Rally games so I don't need buttons or paddle shifters on it.

Great review Simpit👌 I know it's been some time since you reviewed the Moza R16 base & it's gone through some updates since, but how would you stack up the Alpha against the R16?
Waiting to see what you think about the T818 now. Already have the SF1000 so it’s easy to think about that. But I’m starting to like simagic more and more
Great review. I liked how you distinguished between setting up your wheelbase settings vs in game settings. Hey, any chance you'll review a Cammus 15Nm (whoops, not 115!) wheelbase, wheel, and pedals (Retails for about $1000 and also from China) in the near future?
What's your opinion re FFB details between this Alpha or the Mini? I understand its 15Nm vs 10Nm (or I've read some say something like 16Nm vs 13Nm, for a $180 price difference). Coming from an R9.
It would be somewhat of an upgrade, but not by much if you factor in the fanatec power pack of the CSL DD that you can purchase for it as an addition. Both are great wheels. It really comes down to how much power do you really want.
D shaped wheels have a weird spot in sim racing. The only reason there's D shaped wheels is to save space when getting into a vehicle, which is not as tight in most simracing cockpits
@@clinte1 absolutely worth it, amazing ffb and overall quality. being racing nearly everyday. so addictive. i had the csw v2 for years so this is a much better improvement
The rims are cheaper for us canadains than the fanatec's higher end rims and these are cnc machined aluminum, no plastic and buying the alpha bundled with a rim works out to about $350 or $450 for the cost of the rims subtract the base price.
What's really wrong with all sim rigs? Imagine siting like that in real car looking up and wheel above your head? Isn't wheel supposed to be more at chest height and screen inline with your eyes/head?
Mann great review but you have to stop with the background music its crazy honestly I can barely listen to you with that anatolian rock kicking in the background
He says there no flex and then pushes the wheel and there’s tons of visible flex. 😂😂😂. PS the DD has zero flex but their wheels do. Is it bad? No but to say there’s no flex is misleading. How do I know this? Well #1 you can see it in his video and #2 I own this same setup. I do love it and highly recommend it! Just know there is flex in the wheel but not the DD.
It's not about using the 20nm it's about the dynamic range and extra pop to the details. But I do agree once you get to that 15nm point it's harder to tell the differences even on more powerful bases. Regardless the spikes will be felt more in details and corrections etc.
