Aaron from Trail Pittsburgh was one of the first people to reach out from Pennsylvania when I announced my 50 State Shred. I always love seeing what MTB clubs are doing to take action and improve their home parks.
These folks have put a ton of time and effort into Frick Park and it was FUN little spot. Unfortunately Aaron wasn't able to ride with us as he busted his ribs about a week before I arrived, but Justin and Carl gave me a great tour of their home turf.

Proud yinzer here. Really glad you made it out and were able to enjoy Frick.
Yinz Winz.
Oh yeah
I had to laugh when I got the "I rode with BKXC today" text from Justin while I was on vacation. Thanks for featuring our little park! We had 900 volunteer hours in 2019!
Your videos are great too really helped me out finding trails.
hey ryan, i watch your videos every night before sleep, it sets the right tone and makes a perfect way to end the day, keep em coming bro
@@SageAndSmudgey Thanks, glad they helped!

me: watches first minute of a BKXC episode
These trails look awesome - may have to take a road trip to Pittsburgh!
Much more than Frick to ride in Pittsburgh too!
The guy you are riding with is shredding it!
If you make it back to Pennsylvania, you'll have to check out the 2 IMBA EPIC trails we have.
Brian, your Uncle Dennis is smiling down on you. You are making lots of people very happy!
Outstanding. Love these videos. Thank you
Another awesome installment. Keep on going - you got this!
Thanks for all the history with the shedding!!
I think this will be an awesome playlist to be binged for an interesting history refresher.
Another great upload! Thanks Brian! 😎🙌🏼
Those trails looks absolutly amazing.
YAY! Glad you made it through PA! Glad to see you in our area. 💯🙌☮️🐧
This is badass! Im actually headed out there to pennsylvania for work this sunday. Might make time to go ride this same trail too! Thanks and keep up riding!
Always love your content and video quality. You made my home trail look amazing. I was so pumped and was smiling ear to ear watching you shred some of my favorite trails.
Great riding with you Brian, thanks for checking out Frick Park!
I was just out to Frick Park on 8/26 for the first time, I loved the trails. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks for the vid!
That jersey is bangin. Great video Brian. Glad you're getting through the states.
Great looking trails and it looks like Brian really enjoyed riding them. I could get into those kind of trails. I loved the video Brian just keep riding.
Glad you made it to Pittsburgh! Frick is fun and we are blessed with so many good trail systems.
The video I've been waiting for! I just hit up Frick a couple days ago and ended up completely destroying my rear derailleur! :(
Glad you got to enjoy our sweet little park!
Looks awesome. Michaux state park near Gettysburg has some of the best trails in the state if you ever make it back to Penn
Michaux State Forest has THE best trails in the state. Sorry State College, you are awesome, but Michaux will always be the best.
I’d like to check out Michaux. What are the best sections? It’s huge on Trailforks. Right below it is Frederick watershed which is awesome.
@@concrerto hard to say. It's all really good. I haven't been there in a few years, so I don't have the best beta. Some of my favorite trails are 1500 Block, Vista & Moss. Those are all in Norchaux. Then there's Scientology that's more in the middle. Really just pick out a popular route off Strava and it will be great.
@@concrerto oh yeah, the Shed is totally awesome too!
That is a well built and supported trail. Looks fun!
I grew up right down the street from frick park. It's a beautiful trail and I'm so glad you got to experience it. Best of luck on your journey around the states!
Another awesome video and trail system to add to the list
We moved out of state 7 years ago but lived across the street from Frick for 7. Love that place and so happy to see it, here. A big upvote here for the D’s recommendation for beer selection and hot dogs after riding Frick.
As always, history lessons before shredding. Love it
Thank you man for a good mood :)
Brother! I’m soo happy you got to ride here!
Keep shredding man! Awesome videos!
I always enjoy the history side of your 50 state shred.
Glad you got to tear it up here in “The Burg “ this area is getting better each year. Lots of support from leaders and a LOT of work from those guys and volunteers all over western PA.
Wow that's so cool that bkxc came to our home trails.
My local trails, cool vid and Trail Pgh is an awesome group doing great work
I love Frick! It amazes me that trails like that exist like 5 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh.
Man... You are my inspiration.. I am just a beginner... Long way to go... Now a days, I am binge watching your stuff... So lovely and encouraging.. Love from Bangalore, India.
Looks a really nice trail and a lot of work has gone into it like you said in the video 👍
Shhhh don't tell people about frick. The thing people may not realize is this is smack dab in the middle of the city (not downtown).
What’s amazing about Frick Park too is. It’s literally in the middle of the city for people that don’t know Pittsburgh.
This!
Thanks Brian.... love your vids , inspiring !!!! We are just staring our African spring
here now , so hopefully our cold rides are over .
hi. I love these videos so much. thank you
Can't wait to see you ride the north during this winter
Love watching these videos I just wanna ride so bad but it just snowed in New Jersey you live an awesome life!
Really fun looking trail.
Frick is great! If anyone visits, make sure to hit the "slags". Technically outside the park but arguably the best trails around. Humpular is razor thin singletrack across the side of a cliff for 3 miles.
Glad you made it to the 'Brugh. Really hope you got to the slags while you were at Frick (best trails in the park)
Is Carter/humbolt the "slags " ?
@@mikeh5034 Crater humpler
Those trails look awesome!
Great trails in Pittsburgh! Go Steelers!
Hey Im a fan from Philippines, you inspire me everyday and I enjoy watching you and shred those trails I loved the combination of nature and the mtb, notice me and Im glad. Thanks God bless you ride safe bro.
Great trails, cool jersey...nice shreddin'.
Love the vid good job
Another great place in pa is Glen Park, they host enduro races there every now and then. Fun stuff. Great vid!
I’m so geeked you were out here in my city! Trail Pittsburgh is awesome. You’ll have to come back and visit again another year, non-Pandemic times!
Is Frick the best place in Pittsburgh for riding?
Frick park my favorite place to go to glad to see u here
"I've never seen a beaver" Oh my...
I just stumbled upon your channel, and this was the first video I watched. I live in Pittsburgh, ride regularly in Frick Park, and drink regularly at D's. Glad you could enjoy some of the great parts of the 'Burgh. Also, now that I've watched a few more videos and have seen your van, I'm quite confident that I was driving behind you on my way to work the other day!
Let me just say that with the upgrades to all the trails its truely an honor to live right next to the entrance to dinky bridge and get to ride it every day
thats on my bucket list as-well. seeing historic stadiums like Wrigley.
Great trails.
Thank you for posting these awesome videos! I can't wait to get back out and shred some trails. Btw, it made me laugh when you said " beaver eaten trees" because I was thinking..."man, those are some savage trees killin' all those beavers."
This trail looks pretty gnarly.
One of our first trips on 'dog walking' trail in the city we seen a beaver. It is what got us started posted videos. And that beaver walking across a trail is our most popular video. Haha
idk why but the sped up dash cam at the end of the videos are always so satisfying
My mans in my city love you for that
Been so busy in recent time to not keep up with this channel, have a bit of free time - need to catch up! Best riding content on YT.
Frick Park used to be my backyard up until a year ago. I miss it a lot! (That and D's)
Well Atleast we get to hang out now
@@Tkolbo_ You know you miss your old trails, too. I won't tell your fans.
@@KeanuSwayze Oh it's definitely true. I was spoiled when I lived in Wyoming...there are some insanely good trails there!
Dude Frick park! Hell yeah, my local!
Awesome to finally see Pa but bummed you didn't come to NEPA there is tons of trails out this way that would ove been right up your alley
Yeah, a sunset ride down Blueberry at Moosic Mountains would have been sick.
What you said about it being a terrible time to get a replacement bike, its extremely true. I cracked my frame about a month and a half ago and the company hasn't been back in stock and most likely wont be till the winter, stinks that im gonna have to miss the second half of the riding season 😢 atleast i can watch you and bcpov so i can atleast live vicariously through yall 😂 keep it up man love the vids!
I love Frick Park!
Love your vids there so cool!!!
This video inspired me to hit these trails. I got a little overexcited and got lost! Luckily I was able to loop back around to near the tennis courts where I parked. I'll be back again, and will bring the GPS! And I will go before 4pm.
Sweet flow trails.
Love this trail. Looks so fun. I would love it... Hope your bike last with no parts breaking on you. And lol chatting away then stack it. 😂
Good stuff there!
That’s quite the salad Carl was rockin’ on his head! That trail system looks awesome though. Probably my favorite yet out of the places you’ve gone so far.
I used to go to school right by Frick Park as a kid.
Bummer yinz didn’t do the slags, great ride though!
Welcome back to BKHistoryLessons
The pirate trails are by far the best ones there btw! Hope you rode them off camera!
Awesome video as always. Brian, has you given a review of riding the Ripmo with a coil shock vs. air? Would love to hear your opinion!!!!!
I used run in Frick Park when I was in college. I agree with the Raystown recommendation and I'll add Glen Park in Stroudsburg, aka Enduro Heaven.
Frick is fun, but for the next 50 state shred I’d recommend for PA - Coopers Gap or Moraine State Park or Laurel Mountain for some gnarly tech and big rocks. For the best flow, check out Allegrippis trail system in Lake Raystown!
Yeah... it's pretty upsetting to see that he drove past all the TRUE gems of the state.
Allegrippis is amazing.
Frick is FINE. It’s not even what anyone would really travel to ride. If he had to be close to Pgh, Hartwood Acres is even better, but yes definitely my home turf of Laurel Mountain. Or even Raystown or Rothrock, Jakes Rocks, there are so many BETTER choices.
Even North Park is better than Frick Park.
I love riding Moraine!
Glad yinz had a good time in The 'Burgh
pensylvania boii, love that state
Wow I want one of those jerseys!
I want a kitty bike for my cat. That downhill section at the end of the video looked like a blast.
I saw a Beaver maybe 6 months ago when i was riding Bicentenial greenway in NC, yeah i know Greenway's arent much but it was drizzling and other trails were closed, was still 15 miles with some inclines/hills , something for an old man of 65--hehehehe
Frick park yessir!
You should go to alameda park it is within 1 hour from Pittsburgh and has amazing trails. You need to try flying squirrel and turn down 4 what
I am learning about this right now in school😂
Welcome from Pittsburgh. Fun fact Pee-Wee Herman's famous bike is here at Bicycle Heaven.
If you’re ever back in the area I Highly recommend checking out Alameda Single track. Just about an hour north of frick with much of the same flowy riding and some down hill jump lines.
Seven springs has mountain bike trails ski resort in Pittsburgh that just open in summer with mtb trails
Brian another great trails set! Have you ever considered riding the Colorado Trail? Some friends are doing it right now, crazy demanding!
Oh man, sick trails but I read steel city and thought this was South Mt Bethlehem. Definitely check out some of eastern PA sometime!
I was hoping you'd hit Frick park when you came here to PA! So glad you enjoyed Iron Gate, its my favorite trail there. If by any chance you're still in Pittsburgh theres a few other good places you should try to hit if time allows! Alameda park in Butler, and North Park in Mccandless, and Allegrippis in Raytown Lake. Theres also a few mountain resorts in PA like Seven Springs and Blue Mountain.
@2:30 look at Brians fork. The wiper seals look like they've seen better days. Plus on the right stanchion it looks to be scratched.
Sweet video especially when you’re from Pittsburgh
