Fantasia took to this like a seasoned performer. While Diana was cute here, it was evident who the winner was going to be. But, the way that Fantasia put her arm around Diana's shoulder and gave her the little kiss on the cheek, they almost looked like big sister and little sister. But, when they hugged each other at the end, it was like a mother hugging her little girl. Don't know about everyone else, but it was clear to me who the winner was this night...:)

This was the best season of Americal Idol, and Fantasia was the best contestant that American Idol ever had! Liked Diana DeGarmo, but she didn't stand a chance against Fantasia. I knew that Fantasia would win, that was without a doubt, but I loved seeing her perform. So, I was glued to the TV the night Fantasia and Dianna went head to head. Diana gave a good effort, too, but it was all Fantasia that night:)

Diana was trying to engage the audience and telling them to get up on their feet, and I don't know if she was doing it because she forgot the lyrics or what, but it threw her off key/pitch and she didn't sing the whole verse. When one sings a song like that, they have to be engaged in the song itself and focus on the staying on key along with the lyrics. So she was really done once she made it to the stage. Fantasia is a performer for sure, she owns the stage, vocally and presence wise. Fantasia will give you a show regardless if she's off key for a minute or not...She's going to make up for it with vocal acrobats and dance moves. Though Diana was a good singer, Fantasia was a seasoned singer and performer. So it was no doubt in my mind that Fantasia would win, even over Jennifer Hudson who was good also, but Fantasia outshined her in performance along with great vocals.

Diana’s pitch was off in “knew you were waiting” & she fell flat several times. Compared to Fantasia’s flawless performance, they are not equally matched. Fantasia sings effortlessly, Diana has a great voice & tries but just can not touch Fantasia.

Fantasia’s voice has so much soul and wisdom in it. Like you know she experiences every word when she sings a song. It’s not just enough to have a voice, the voice has to invoke emotions into you. Diana’s voice was bland at best and that’s why Fantasia won. Her voice takes you on a journey.

..I had no idea Diana Degarmo made it that far in that season. I have a vague idea of some of the other contests that season. I didn't watch that year. This is a good reminder to download that song, the one with George Michael and Aretha Franklin..unless I'm confused.

@@dannydark1452LOL. Fantasia was 19 years old when she won. The difference is, she grew up singing in the church and was just a much better singer than Diane. Fantasia is a natural singer not a trained singer.

This was a common sense decision...like night and day of who's clearly the better singer. Fantasia outsang this poor child without any effort. Its like listening to a amatuer VS a professional. It was kinda interesting how the show tried to play up Diana degarmo's vocal talent to compete with Fantasia's when in actuality , her ONLY competition was Jennifer Hudson and Letoya London...who did ocassionally outsing her. Either way the cookie crumbled the right person won the competition that year.
YEA LOOKS LIKE DIANA WAS TRYIN TO OUT SING FANTASIA AS IF TO SAY "PICK ME PICK ME" AND WAS VERY PITCHY ON HER SOLO PARTS. THEY MESHED WELL TOGETHER THOUGH. FANTASIA WAS FLOWING WITH HER NOTES AND DIANA SEEMED TO BE FORCHING HERS.
Y’all are being nice to dianna. She didn’t deserve to be top 2. At all. Top 7 at best. She was always super pitchy (but still very talented). But she was a cute 16 year old with a very clear and high soprano voice 🤷🏾♂️. Imagine a Fantasia vs Latoya finale or a Fantasia vs Jennifer finale. Wow 🔥

they both sang well , fantasia over powered the situation and attitude of the song. Diana is jus a sweet holsum kind of artist who is very suited for contemporary music thats fun loving and next doorish. i actually like that about her more than fantasia, but fantasia has the stronger voice.
