I remember the night this aired... and I'm still amazed. She startled America. There have been some incredible talents from Idol but Kelly, to me, will always be the greatest, most versatile and most captivating.
She was the most natural performer that show ever produced. And she was the most endearing personality as well. Oh, and there's that voice thing too LOL. The show has produced some great singers, but her's is easily in the top few, if not the best in the show's history.
While Kelly is great, no one can take that away from her or dispute her talent. But, the MOST SUCCESSFUL AMERICAN IDOL contestant and WINNER IS . Actually, when she won, Simon told her she would be the most successful American Idol winner... and he's right.
Kellys voice is amazing, one of the best singers i've EVER heard! And shes gorgeous! I saw her in concert, she was the first concert I ever went to and I was NOT dissapointed. She is unbelievable live!!!! If you haven't seen her I recomened you do next time she comes close to you!!!!

i am so happy that after 11 years she's still in the industry & still selling big... Her latest album "Stronger" is really a hit.. This just show that America did the right thing voting for her & proclaiming her the 1st ever American Idol.. If Kelly didn't make it big after winning American Idol then maybe it won't even have Season 2 or 3... She establish AI credibility of making a big star in the making...

Having a powerful voice does not mean she's shouting, if that were the case she would not be the American Idol and her powerful voice is what made her the winner. She is wonderful regardless what people may say about her, I think it's just jealousy and people will always find ways to pick on her.
Kelly does have charisma. And a wonderful aspect to her performances is her command of the stage and how she relates to her audience. It just seems so natural for her. Not all idols have it and I won't name names.

I've followed Kelly Clarkson since the beginning of her career and I still think she sounded the best during her time on American Idol. She sounded healthiest and was always consistent. I miss the cleanliness of her voice.
i hate it how on American Idol now they always gave a standing ovation like on every contestant every week while before they rarely stand... Kelly have never had a standing ovation even when she performed her fantastic rendition of Natural Woman it was only during her winning performance that they finally gave her a standing ovation..
That girl did not just sing her heart out - she sang her SOUL OUT! Idol has a Motown night? Is that consistent in all the seasons, or in just the first few? That girl was acting like the stage was her bedroom and the audience was a mirror and the mic was her hairbrush! It's cute and it's rare for all the seasons that I have watched. Usually you can sense some kind of tension from the singer - that small bit of anxiety leaking out of their performance.

What I like about these is that Kelly has pure joy in singing - it shows so much. As for her putting on weight - well if you buy a record because of the way someone looks, rather than how they sound, then there's something wrong with you.

I was the only kid my age that i knew watched it in canada anyway) (i was like 14) I saw her perform RESPECT and was like wow she can belt it. and i loved her expressions, couldnt vote cuz well lived in canada but i woulda. then this performance i was like awe she's kinda shakey at 1st, but still loved her performance then she said she had laryngitis. i was like "i wish i could sing like that normally and she can do it with laryngitis! she'll win!
So for those comparing Jacob's to Kelly's performance, obviously the track in Kelly's song is much faster than jacob's. They had completely different bands. If Jacob did it back then, they would have him sing it in a similar fashion. Likewise, if Kelly sung it today, she would have been able to take her time more especially with the producer they have working with them this year! But I don't see why we're comparing! Kelly has won grammies....Jacob is just getting started! Come on people!

I still remember clearly that the show at the very beginning didn't give much attention to kelly (probably she just a girl next door not cookie cutter popstar they had in mind though they said they weren't looking for that on idol) BOY, SHE PROVED THEM WRONG!!!! All of them (producers including simon) were blown in top 10. SHE IS THE BIGGER STAR THAT CAME OUT OF IDOL...i honestly think if idol hadn't happend. Kelly would still be where she is now because she is talented and BLESSED. i love her since 2002 till forever. She has been my 1st vocalist for years...there are other singers that i like (comes & goes) but no one can replace her
