You are the first reviewer of the 990 out of 5 that I regularly follow that has mentioned the mouse and it's capabilities. Bernina USA owes you...To me, it is a game changer. Thank you..
Oh my when I first found out the machine could use a mouse a couple of months ago I knew I had to play with that feature because I knew from experience that my finger isn’t always the best when selecting things and this machine with its much larger screen that a mouse was going to be a game changer. However when I went into use the mouse and really saw it in action. WOW!!! It’s honestly no different than using a mouse with your computer but being able to use it in almost 100% of the features of the machine is incredible. 🤩🤩
Cody, loved your review on the 990. Best I've seen so far. I've also enjoyed your other videos. They have been very, very informative. I currently have the 590 and refer to your videos at times. Thank you. I know the 990 is not in my budget, but that is okay because I'm satisfied with my 590 thanks to you and your wonderful 590 videos.😊
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 And you know us - we are delighted to listen to you talking about them! When is the machine being delivered to US-American dealers/purchasers (we in Europe have to wait until October - ooh the irony, given that the B990 is coming from Switzerland)? Maybe we can live vicariously through you some more until then.
This is the only video presentation that shows how Bernina engineers have finally integrated FULLY their software into the machine and no longer is a laptop or computer required. @BerninaAG and @BerninaUSA owe you huge Cody. I keep coming back to this video and watching it in increments because you are showing so many amazing features how they can be utilized and combined and this is all ad-lib, off the cuff, so bravo brother! Can't wait for your North American Tour! Come to Canada! ✌️
Thank you. While I was editing, I saw how fast I was talking and all of the background noise I felt really bad. But I was so exacted and I knew I didn’t have a lot of time to talk about it.
@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 The background noise on yours wasn't anywhere near as bad as in other RUclips videos made by other enthusiastic attendees, don't worry a bit. If we find out more from you because you talked at 234789 km/hr, that can only be a Good Thing.
Thank you for showing off the new features that actually make a difference! Not just the gimmicks like everyone else at BU. I’m excited to see what this new BISR technology means for the Q series 👀
Thank you very much. I like to focus on features that will be used regularly and features that truly make the experience better. The Q series especially the Q20-24 still have speed and size while on the frame but the W 16 sit down I know will probably take a hit. Especially for customers that don’t have the room for it.
Thank you so much for such kind words. I love my machines and want to share them with the world and I want to teach anyone who will listen to me. I apologize for all of the background noise in the video but I was just so excited to have the opportunity to film for as long as I did. 😃
Hello Cody! Thank you for this video. It is a great review, and I am blown away by the features of this new Bernina! It was a pleasure to meet you at the airport yesterday. Take care and be well.
Wow...this is the most comprehensive review I have seen yet! I have been waiting for a review like this. Especially loved your demo of the use of the mouse. Can't wait to see your future videos. You're fantastic, thank you!!
You’re welcome. So happy you enjoyed the video. I can’t wait to have it to dive deeper into the machine in videos. The machine blew my mind it checked all of my boxes.
What an incredible deep dive into this magnificent machine! Thank you for pushing as much as possible into the time you gave us. I’m number 365 and am positively giddy with all the features!
Awe thank you. I was dying to get y’all as much good information as I could. I was lucky I had the time with no interruptions to get this video. I felt like I was talking fast but I didn’t have much time but I kept talking. Haha. 🥰
Thanks for the detailed review. My machine embroidery projects require many thread color changes & the large tablet seems like it would be in the way. I currently have the Brother Luminaire XP3 & thread changes are quick & easy. Beyond that, the machine looks amazing & offers many features I would love!
Cody, this is the best review I've seen so far, bar none. Your video has sold me on this machine. Thank you for not repeating the features that left me sitting on the fence. Looking forward to your future videos on the 990 and continuing with the 790PRO.
Great video Cody! You’ve given the best look of all. You went into embroidery features I was wondering about and as I have QMatic with hundreds of stitches I’m thrilled to be able to use. I do hope someday it can connect to my google drive and retrieve files. Can’t wait to get mine. #188
I ditto that emotion, I think I going to trade in my Q20, that I love, but I said that about my 790 plus for the 790 pro....decisions...who knew.... Thank you so much Cody! You are so brilliant❤
Aww thanks. You know I love making and sharing the machines with everyone. When I sat down to free motion quilt on the 990 I felt like I was at a Q series machine. It was incredibly smooth. I was blown away by the BISR. Major improvement over the traditional BSR on the domestic machine. Don’t get me wrong the Q series can stitch much faster. But for those of us who don’t have the room for two machines this will truly be a game changer. So excited!!
Love your videos Cody! My charter # is 348. I can hardly wait! So many new/amazing features. Wow. I’m trading in my 880 but as much as I love my 790 Pro, I’m half tempted to trade that one in for another 990. Seriously in love with this machine. Keep those awesome videos coming. I literally stopped watching the other Bernina video I had on when I saw yours come through! Hugs from Oregon.
Aww thank you 🥰. Oh you’ve got an early number awesome!!! You will see your machine in July most likely. If you have the space you might want to trade the 790 pro in haha unless you want to take it to classes since it’s a little more portable. But you will find yourself looking for the mouse when you go to the 990 haha. Using the mouse just seems so natural for us now. I am so anxious to get my hands on the 990 again to make more videos 🥰🥰. Thanks for following and supporting my channel.
Excellent demo Cody. Just love how you are technically savvy, yet obviously personable! Did Bernina comment on being able to use designs created in DesignWork (discontinued) e.g. PaintWork and CrystalWork?
Thank you 🥰. You know on just love these machines. No they did not mention anything about design works. Only thing mentioned was cutwork. Again glad you enjoyed can’t wait to get more content out 🥰
I said I didn’t need one at the house because I can play with it while I’m at the shop but now I am reconsidering it. After my first class with it I fell in love. After the second class that’s when I decided it was just not amazing its the ultimate machine 🤩🤩🤩
Best review thus far! I understand that there were time limitations given for people to do videos and so I've watched many as most touched on various points of the machine but many were repetitive. I've subscribed and looking forward to more reviews/information in future videos on this phenomenal machine!
Thank you. I could have sat in front of that machine and talked for hours and I will when I get it haha. It’s so amazing everyone is going to love it. 😍
The machine weights 41lbs from what I was told it’s just about 2lbs heavier than the 880. They spent a lot of time reducing the weight since it was going to be larger. The screen is VERY secure and very well built it’s actually metal so is the base of the machine. However since the screen does stick up if your machine is sitting on the top of your sewing cabinet and not dropped down also depending on the height of your chair you might have to stand up to thread the machine. When we were sewing on it in class the chairs we were sitting on were very low so we did have to stand up to thread but it was the worst case scenarios sewing experienced table were high and chairs were very low. So I honestly think it will depend on sewing situation and the customer height will determine how difficult it will be to thread. The video just scratched the surface of its features. I can’t wait to share them all 😍.
Thanks for that fast reply! Getting the heavy machines back and forth to classes is the biggest reason I don't know how to use all my 770 functions. I got one of those sweet Kaffe turquoise machines and I love the ease of use and weight. It's much better for piecing too. Your videos are great and I love that u are honest about pros and cons.
Yes, marvelous integrated firmware/software. However, what about the internals? Sealed ball bearings to replace the archaic bushing bearings? A servo/stepper motor versus a brush-type drive motor?
Thats because it IS an integrated computer on a sewing machine. They’ve been doing this for years on may pieces of equipment. They don’t cost 23,000.00 for them either. 😉
I absolutely Love this machine . Very disappointed and fed up with this sort of pricing . I cant imagine if you could even trade it in for another machine. Or lets say a Brother or whatever. Considering the price, it could support bluetooth peripherals. I don't see why they can't come up with a Bluetooth pedal(s) that you could use. Color scheme has a lot to be desired as well. I hope there will be some special editions of it as well. If Bernina was really an IT company (which they are not), they could add a feature where you could use a "Bernina app" to be able to use your phone/tablet as a second screen. It could be done wired or even wirelessly. Imagine being able to make it retroactive on already existing models. One could even add a HDMI output so one could use any screen size you want. In combination with mouse it would be perfect for sewing classes. Not to mention streaming from all those cameras that take pictures. You could use your external screen as a magnifying glass (like you do with digital microscopes). I think big missed opportunity was not to add any extra features. If anyone want to try out using mouse with your sewing machine, you can download a Bernina simulator for your model and try it out. It's really handy. I think it might be an issue depending on your lighting situation. Too bad they didn't make that screen retractable/rotating. Considering the weight of the machine I don't expect you to travel much with it. But if you are to move it around, I fear that screen can get damaged/scratched easily. I 3D printer a screen cover for my 570QE and it has a scree that is fraction of the size that B990 has. Unfortunately, it seem unavoidable that 1090 or 1190 will have just one huge screen and 1-2 buttons. This reminds me of how cars degraded. I liked how 3-series had a simple, efficient and purpose built interface. 5-series has more features so bigger screen is handy. But I think that's where I draw the line. At this stage, if you are working with such advanced features and you need all that real estate, one could just connect sewing machine to a PC and use it from there. One could integrate it into digitizing software or have a dedicated app/software. I wish Bernina "opened up" their machines so that one could create custom theme and layout for them and integrate them into different software more easily. This will also extend the life of the machines as software will become outdated fast and it will perform slower and slower.

Like the basic, simple 2 dials for stitch length and width. The screen is larger than my iPad's. The price is crazy high though.
