Finally, someone else added the scanning feature, so you don’t need the separate Scan n Cut machine. Plus a stitch regulator!!! So it does quilting. And a huge hoop! No way my hubby will let me buy this, lol. Ahhh, retirement.
Soon as i have a floor model! Its hard to do it here at BU because you have to sign up for time on the machine they have set aside for livestreams. Should be mid julyish that I have one.
Nice that it has an integrated stitch regulator, but why does it still come with the BSR foot? At least that is what I read in “What coms in the box” section of the brochure. Oh and I’m so glad they dropped the crazy bobbin system that was in the B880 and how that has to be threaded differently from regular stitching to embroidery……Good planning engineers at Bernina…you rock.
@@EllicottCitySewVac Why didn't they just skip the separate BSR foot and make the integrated BSR work with both plates, limiting the straight stitch plate to just the straight stitch? Would save $1000 off that ridiculous machine price!
@@EllicottCitySewVac But did I not see a window in front of the needle opening for it to see the fabric, it's not reading it thought the zig zag opening.
I have a local sewing machine guy who repairs every brand there is they’ve been a primarily Janome dealer. Problem with the brothers according to him was when you get inside to the guts of the machine where Janome and Bernina and Elna have metal mechanisms and are created to possibly be your last machine regardless of what stage it was created in, the brother machines are not made as well.
Google says that it costs $22,990. Checked with a local dealership and they said $23,990. Yet another said $24,990. So somewhere around $23-25 thousand dollars.
And how much does it cost to service? …also does it allow someone to actually sew for themselves or is everything automated? Didn’t see it sew a stitch 👀
@@bluedeva Well, yeah, it does allow someone to "actually sew for themselves". What you saw was the machine in embroidery mode. Because they're (Bernina Corp.) marketing to the segment of the home sewing population that shells out the most money. Those being quilters. The "quilting" that was shown was done using embroidery software. That stated, this machine isn't geared to or for garment sewists. It's a beautiful machine, but way more (imo) sewing machine than garment sewists need. Just a thought.
@@EllicottCitySewVac oh that’s a shame as the pfaff icon 2 and now epic 3 have the laser line and is absolutely brilliant. Really thought this would be something Bernina would incorporate.
It's 22,990. And if not for the "average" home crafter, then who? That's what the Bernina Credit Card is for, I'm guessing. Not that I would take the plunge, but no one blinks when a guy lays out thousands of dollars for saws and tools and such. To each, their own. And Happy Sewing.
Right and they are just catching up with Babylock technology and with the new machine coming out in August...it's going to seem like 990 is already behind.
Its much better in person, I felt the same way from the pictures but especially when you're using the live action camera it's nice to have it eye level
I'll write a serious comment instead of a bunch of meaningless snot. The most important thing is that the machine has a hook system from the 7 Series, which is very, very cool, since the hook system of the previous top-end 8 Series was crap. If you are completely out of the loop, then yes, the 7x series were really better than the 8x series. It took *only 12 years for Bernina to pull head out of a*s and make a top-end system based on the 7x hook system. Be that as it may, this is an absolute step forward. 7x hook + hoop A3, this is the bomb. The built-in BSR turns any foot into a computer-assist, this is good, just not all BSR have been used, for example, in 12 years I have never used it. Owners of 7x machines can jump for joy, all our junk bought for crazy money will work on 9x. Everything else is whimsical stuff that doesn’t deserve serious attention. Is it worth upgrading from the 7 or 8 series to the 9 series? I think so, responsible users of the 7x did not upgrade to the 8x precisely because it were defective. For 8x users who are not familiar with the advantages of the 7x, new horizons will open up :) I’ll write a few words about the shortcomings. Bernina also in the 9x inserted a useless, broken piece of sh*t called an auto-threader. This crap shouldn’t be there at all, it will be cheaper and better. Bernina for 12 years has never made an absolutely necessary set of magnetic hoops (let's be honest, Bernina's quick-release hoop system is crap), but built in a laser, a camera, and a scanner, without which normal people managed just fine. The price is insane, even if we take Europe, for this money you can buy a top-end industrial embroidery machine with a hoop 1.5м diagonal
It comes to something when ya can choose between a sewing machine or a car 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i don't know how they can get away with charging that amount of money for a machine !!
Why can't they just make a machine with a big throat so you can more easily quilt a piece without all the embroidery stuff that would sell at a more reasonable price!
@@pk-xc2em That is not quite right. The embroidery is built into the machine and the embroidery arm is not something that you add on. It comes with it. She is saying why not build a regular sewing/quilting machine with that large throat area.

Thanks Brad. Beautiful machine that does some amazing things. That auto thread calculation is pretty amazing.
Thank you, Brad. The best detailed video of the B990 so far!
Great at giving us the infomation we want to hear about all of the new features! Many thanks!
Excellent Presentation 👏👏👏… she’s a beauty and she’s smart!
Awesome video, Brad! Thank you!
Great job Brad !!!
Thx, Brad. Are you going to do videos to learn more about the 990?

Great Video, but I've got a B770 QE PLUS one Year ago. This one will hopefully stay witj me for the rest of my life.
Thanks for great summary of new features!
Anyone check the price? Not in this lifetime.
$23.0K
I’m sure the dealers are taking trade in, so that will lower the cost
It’s £12,950 price in the UK

The standard BSR can still be used in case you want to use the straight stitch plate. The integrated BSR requires a 5.5mm zigzag plate.
Thank goodness this now has the same bobbin as my 570 and a similar way to wind bobbins.

Great information. very detailed
Wonder if Bernina dd a giveaway of the machine during/after the convention? If so, somebody went home VERY happy. 😀
They didn't, would've been a nice prize though!
Would love to hear your views comparing the top of the line Brother machines to the new 990!! Did not realize you sold Bernina. Might have to visit.

Is there a projector on this machine?
Great video TY
Nice 👍🏿
Looks like the janome with the screen I like it but I’ll never have one ☝️
Does it embroider faster than 790 PRO?
Yes its 1200 vs 1000 on the pro (this is wrong, see below)
@@EllicottCitySewVacActually it’s 1000 SPM for embroidery and 1200 for sewing according to the spec sheet. That aside - your video was awesome!

LOVE THIS
Does it have an automatic threader like my Luminaire?
Yes!
What about laser placement? Only pin point?
4 point laser placement
Does the laser only pin point or does it go out to show line to follow sewing?
It just does the pinpoint, but it's so much more accurate than the projector or foot based methods I ain't even mad about it!
