Vordhosbn (33 RPM)

- This is the track 'Vordhosbn' from Drukqs, slowed down to 33.3 RPM in Audacity. Its original speed was 45 RPM. I apologise for the slow panning across the image in the video - I made this during a class at school, when I was supposed to be paying attention, and didn't feel like fixing the panning on the image. And the main focus of this should be the music, not the image.
If you have any suggestions on any tracks you would like me to upload in 33 RPM, simply leave a comment and I will be happy to oblige.
that synth line at 1:39 just hits so different at 33 RPM
Weird to think that people still say drukQs wasn't good. This is so intricate, almost unbelievable when you slow it down and listen carefully to all the the different variations of drum sounds, effects, synths, etc.
ive read that the last track for drukQs is Nanou 2. That track made me speechless
Who tf says drukqs wasn't good?
Edude117 Most critics, the critic consensus is around 6/10.
he was ahead of the time ;)
to be fair, this isn't Drukqs. This is like... just a small fraction of the whole that is Drukqs. So this could be one of the best tracks you've ever heard, but if you just like all the breakbeat tracks, and think most of the rest ranges from meh to passable, I can see why someone would rate the album a 6/10. Not that that's my opinion, but I'm just saying there's more to an album than a single track.
I’m 99% certain that rich records his songs at this speed and masters them at 45 rpm
142 bpm (allegro) google says
nah^^ you notice, that all the samples sound to "pitched down" for that. the clap is muffled for example, just like it would warp if "pitched down" - bit its clear and crisp on normal speed. just like you "expect it to sound"
@@noiselessfox7618 this is what warping is for, changing the speed of audio without pitching it up or down
that's because this is RPM slowed down. he would have recorded it at a lower BPM in his tracker, which wouldn't have pitched down the soudns @@noiselessfox7618
Back when this came out I never really paid attention to RPM and used listen to all my records in whatever rpm felt right. I played that at 33 for a good year before a mate was like “yo it’s actually 45”, which in context was insane. Hearing it at 45 after listening in 33 for so long was mind blowing. Almost sounded ridiculous lol
it gets you lost in all the breaks
"Almost sounded ridiculous "
>that
>is
>afx
hearing him since a friend introduced me into like .. idk 20 years ago or more tbh
its true this song sounds really strange still if its played at 33 but much more "normal" as with "Normal" speed, this song is hard, but soft at the same time, need times, but gives you a feel of time not existing...
@@gotlifez355833 was normal for me, and 45 just sounded funny.
Still mind blowing slowed down. I'll never understand how he makes these intricate drum sequences from scratch. Every time I try I fail embarrassingly.
in an obscure french interview, he explained how this album he was the most reflective on (at the time), he kept coming back to the tracks and making minute changes. I wonder how long it took for him to make the bangers off of the albums...
The main trick in terms of production is to use a tracker.

One of the most sophisticated songs I've ever heard
And It's been so many years since I first heard this song
Can I ask what would be some others you feel that about ? Like not Richard cause I know his music very well , but if you maybe knew of other artists I've never heard maybe? Anyhow be well my friend thanks

Ha, I made that image. I made it for the sound cloud dump. I made a bunch for different playlists. its cool to see them floating around the web
Ah, yeah, I remember finding it along with a bunch of Soundcloud covers on Reddit! I thought it looked sweet, loved the aesthetic. Great work dude
Jeff Goldblum is such a renaissance man
You are a man of diverse talents Jeff. I particularly liked your performance in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Your hands are iconic.
fuck Jeff Goldblum, man.
its you richard ?
Remember kids, don't do drugs! Listen to DrukQs!
preferable is both at the same time
Can't imagine the patience & knowledge required to produce something this complex.

This is why electronic music is my favorite. Its some of the easiest music to make (overall) yet, its the most intricate because of its specific creation process.
i don't think it's that easy if you go into the rabbit hole. It is really easy to cross the line between the good track and bad track when you are making electronic music, especially on analog equipment. And even when you made a good track you need to make it unique, so it won't just be another "techno" or "house" track without anything special.
Nothing will ever be as exquisite as the marvellous unworldly beats formed by Mr James
Except maybe his children alrwady making music at 5 yo
4:42 love how the drums change there.
5:12 love how that synth line comes in; sounds very melancholy
5:27 love how the drums fade out.
5:41 love how the drums come back
Were you high writing this? :D
@@TheActualTed no. I was sober. I just really adore this track.
It sounds great high too, though.
It's like some demented Hip Hop beat from a parallel Universe or something.
Dear god, the way this makes my iCue software light up is more detailed than any other music I've put through it. This guy's music has continued to surprise me for more than 15 years for me now.
rich is rich and his music is rich
this is mindblowing...
0:53 best sound ever
5:10 Exactly the right amount of utter hopelessness for the modern human playing this through it's sound system
5:27 the melody is so wheezing, it doesn't bother me in a way. it looks like it was on purpose
kayn wasted this flesh, raast will not
Best version of this on the internet. Mind-melting
Pure chills when I listen to this track. Fast or slow.
My friend had this big old crappy analogue organ with rythms built in, salsa, rock, polka etc. featuring a tempo slider, after about five ten minutes messing about with it I discovered the birth of the Aphex Twin 🫒 love you Richie 🦠🧠🦠🧠🦠🧠
for me from 3:40 to 4:26 sounds like heaven. the whole track is a masterpiece though
how am i loving every timeline of this song, 62.981% speed, 59.628% speed, 33RPM. bruh AFX is lord of the analogs.
Hes the analord
Arguably one of the most detailed pieces of music created in the modern era. I hope Richard David James goes down in the history books with the other truly great European composers.
Actually modernity ends in 1945, postmodernity in 1991, the belle epoque of the XX. century in 2009 and from that on transmodernity… This is a 20th century belle epoque piece of music…
goodness me. this is quite 'the jam'
Whish my students would be doing things like this when they aren't paying attention to class ;-)
I've always wanted to make drum beats the way RDJ makes them, but i could never figure out how. Listening to it slowed down, i may actually have a chance now lol.
its funny how tempo changes totally change the feel of the syncopation and rhythms and shit as well
Wes Marsen don’t think the tempo changes during this track but it does in T69 Collapse
@@hamishmacdonald8593 yeah I meant how when you slow it down like this it feels different. Not that the tempo changes during the track
Wes Marsen ah gotchu
(At least from what i heard) Aphex Twin changes final song BPM artificially quite often to maybe 10-20 BPM more than what the drums were programmed originally
just got the drukqs cd cuz the vinyl is like - impossible to get - streamed the album a ton but this one coming off a disc sounded way more full and crystal clear than Spotify over Bluetooth, and it is literally a two disc double album lol splurged tho and got the Japanese cd with the OBI cuz I don't believe Drukqs will ever be repressed on vinyl- idk why but the fact it was his contract fulfilling album and like the last AT name release for like a decade + and already has ultra collector satus and fan appreciation exponentially larger than when it first dropped
Holy fucking fuck my mind got flipped over itself
genius
I'm pretty sure the AFX logo has a shadow affect composite; I always see a pole dancer fixing her right stockings 😋 could also be a vinyl needle 😋
3:05 real banger begins
it's 1:47 for me
This is the most intricate piece of music ever produced
Literally no joke

Very intricate n bliss inducing... can u do the same speed but with the same pitch as the original speed? I bet that would sound even better... 🙏

that keeps the same pitch mate, i want the original pitch but at this speed. thank you tho!

I honestly would quiver to death if i had to estimate the price of his machines that he makes music with, and he's not just mixing up shit thoughtlessly, so i'd say it's really hard to create something similar
Rpm auto sale? Lol
WHY DONT THE APHEX TWINS SOUND LIKE DEADMOUSE?
HE SOUND MORE LIKE SCRILLX BUT SCRILEX HAS BETER DROPS
Aphex twin is the god. Rest are prophets.
I completely forgot I wrote that comment.
RDJ is just another savant musician. It's amazing how massive he hasn't become with pop culture in America; I would wager he is most of today's electronic artists' favorite composer. Dick is on a wavelength stream of conscious that rivals the content created by the Grateful Dead, classical composers, and probably jazz musicians whom I haven't found, yet. Not many people know how to appreciate it, and it is all okay the way it is.
