A brilliant actor... not since James Dean have I seen such screen presence. Some actors have the 'it' factor but only half a handful have had the [....] factor. It can't be described but you know it when you see it. Michael, you were taken from us too soon. There were decades left on your acting dance card.
Hands down Omar is one of the greatest characters of all time. First time I saw him I was like why is this guy still alive? Then I was like, this guy's really evil. Then you slowly understand why everyone's afraid of him, why he's still not locked up and so much more. Omar is a complicated character on such a level where you even understand context of everything else through him.
The real Omar is shown in the series a couple of times. He rides in the car when Omar hits the apartment and jumps of the balcony. And puts that phone book around omar's waist in prison.
I knew that and I was in my teenage we talked about what we would do and he really did what he said he was gonna do. I slept on the train with him both from different sections he’s from Flatbush and I’m from Crown Heights and every time I see something in the morning I just cry. I miss that man so much
I think the Wire as a series has such a high standard of quality that making a clip like this from its memorable parts devalues it. Rest in peace Michael Kenneth Williams, gone but will never be forgotten.
Omar's whistle tune shows up in an episode of Law and Order where a ruthless killer whistles it to scare Stabler's mother. The tune is synonymous with incoming danger.
Michael K. Williams(rip) is right up there with James Gandolfini(rip) as the most important and legendary actors in TV history. Yes...alot of credit should go to the writers...but its the actors themselves that bring the characters they play alive and give that authenticity that's needed for greatness.
I lived in Baltimore from ’75 to ‘82 on Egerton a block from Forrest Park and Garrison Blvd. Most of this was shot away from my house but it was close enough to see some landmarks like Mondawmin Mall. Such a great show and tragic loss of Michael K Williams.
When Omar goes on the run he goes to Puerto Rico. The house he's staying at is in a very old neighborhood in Old San Juan thats famous for drug dealing called La Perla which is Spanish for The Pearl.
Jules: Ezekial 25;17 "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children And I will strike down upon thee With great vengeance and furious anger Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers And you will know my name is the Lord When I lay my vengeance upon thee" Omar: "How do?"
Naw, it couldn't end that way, sadly... you don't tapdance on a razors edge and not get cut, eventually. But... his name was HIS NAME! AND it rang out long after he was gone. Unlike Marlo...
RIP Mickael K Williams.
Omar, one of the most historic characters in TV history.

I doubt anyone could watch this and not want to watch the wire.. that goes for folks who haven't seen it and folks who've watched it a dozen times.
