I remember one of my friends back in 6th grade saying some shit about wrapping himself in phone books - was over a decade later I finally watched The Wire and got the reference.
The guy holding the shiv is the real deal. The documentary about him he's the real life Omar. Just look how he holding that shank though like "you can fight back it won't help little guy".
I will always love this show for how it portrayed characters like this , with a special nod to Omar. Just enough reality balanced with theatricality. Michael K Williams was such a talent , and gave so much of himself to make the role real , the same way he did on Boardwalk Empire. Of course , he always stood out on screen...he had that factor that not only makes a star , but a true artist...however , those two roles shine for me because he was given enough screen time to really develop the characters and show that he wouldn't just steal a scene , he'd steal the whole damn show.
The wire truly delivered when it came to opening scenes but this one with Omar and the character he was based on in jail is the most memorable. The one with brother mouzone in the alley comes second.
When TV Omar met the real life Omar aka Donnie Andrews whose exploits were dramatized on the Wire. In the episode where Omar jumped from a 4th floor apartment escaping Snoop and Chris, Donnie jumped from a sixth floor but with less injuries.
@Rusty Shackleford At least someone said it. Omar is a very cartoonish character, it's not realistic at all, even if it's based on a real character. Thanks also to the great connections The Wire makes to the soul of Baltimore.
Wow
I went to school with Fran's youngest didn't even know the whole time
Rest In Peace Michael K. Williams “Omar”
I remember one of my friends back in 6th grade saying some shit about wrapping himself in phone books - was over a decade later I finally watched The Wire and got the reference.
Thanks for doing this. Was pretty cool to see all these in a row.
RIP Omar Little aka Michael K Williams, one of the greatest actors I ever seen. 🙌🙌
I thought Omar was definitely going to die here.. one of the best scenes in the whole season
After becoming obsessed with The Wire I have come to the conclusion that all I really need in life is a friend like Butchie and/or Michael ✍
Yup. Hit me up.
@@amirali7093 😂😂
its cool to want a friend like that... Its even better to BE the friend like that
when you come at the King, you best not miss
They missed a opportunity to show bird and him fight.
Love how they both outsize him but he squares up anyway
WTf you expect you simple bish.
@@AE-yr6mo you'd be crying and getting your back turnt
thanks for the post, and the summary you posted is awesome!
Man chalky white really loved this book... And invented time travel just to pull of this great move here. What a guy.
Omar was so relieved that the 🥷🏾 with the shank said "butchie sent us"
The dude with the beanie is the actual real life character that Omar is portraying for real
HE TALKED BACK
Electronic91 what does that mean?
he probably offended a policeman to enter the prison
@@Herbert2892 a 22-55 and "he talked back" are pretty much the same offense. Although, it's not a crime...the most you can be is detained.
Talking back to Marlo is a death sentence, ask that security guard. Power tripping at its finest
The shank is made out of a piece of acrylic, bed sheet wrap for the handle!
glass
its plastic
Acrylic and sharpened to perfection.
And won’t set off any metal detectors
@@shadygaming6523 def not glass. glass is brittle plastic/acrylic sharpened on a grinder then sanded smooth. just as sharp as steel.
Marlo's rise was as fast as his decline. No one knew about him for longer than a year or 2
The wire truly delivered when it came to opening scenes but this one with Omar and the character he was based on in jail is the most memorable. The one with brother mouzone in the alley comes second.
Nah, the alley scene comes first by a mile.. the dialog was incredible..
Absolutely no other opening even comes close to the one with Mouzone and Omar.
There's no way you limp your way around the hood robbing gangsters and exiting the scene slower than my grandma and you get away with it all the time either.
@@hfvales I heard the stories are pretty similar to real stories, but he didn't last that long doing it, it was more like a 4-5 months thing. Obviously not that slow and calm, but without a mask on, which is what made him famous
The real life Omar makes an appearance. “I’m here on a 22-55.”
He wasn't afraid to jail but he was really scared. Eyes don't lie
@0:15 when you face all the criminals you’ve robbed over the years 😬
its a fucked up feeling when you get tossed into a pod and like 30 guys start circling around you, too bad for me I had been locked in the drunk tank fit for four ppl max and had to share that space with 15 other ppl in the hot summer with no shower for a week. yeah.....not a fun day.
Omar was the lowkey best character. The relief on his face after the knife being pulled on him show's humility, great acting & brotherhood
One of the little chuckles that kept the show from becoming too dark, cynical, and angry: "they got honey nut in here?" Lol :-)
I love in the first scene where Omar is being jeered on and threatened by the crowd, the one white dude is off to the side looking at him like, “Huh, wonder what’s the deal with this guy”
"Aint nobody see shit" 😂😂😂😂
I have the box dvd set but yet every time I watch a clip of that series here I realize more how much of a brilliant series it really was.
bhbest I also find or see new things each time I watch it. To me, greatest show ever.
Truly some great writing. Excellent show.
One of the top TV dramas I ever watched. Loved everything about it.
RIP Mr. Williams, no doubt🙏🏽
Bunk said it, he wasn't really hard. Good with a gun in his hand. Love Omar but that shit rang out
00:15 shout out to the random white dude probably named Kyle staring down Omar
He looking like "That MF took my alternator" 😂
Probably White Mike from the harbour
Still cant believe this awesome show never won any major awards or was only nominated two times. What a shame. Breaking bad wasnt around until its final season and the sopranos ended in 2005 or 2006 i believe so the wire had a couple years without those shows to battle against.
You know what would have been the crossover of the century? If Omar was sent to OZ, along with Paulie from the Sopranos (that time he did a few months in jail). Too bad they didn't have an HBO shared universe back then...
Yeah, and Carmela was a prison guard there, cuz she needed the money after TS got killed at Holstens...listen to yourself you sound demented!
The inmates’ reaction when Omar stabs dude in the ass always reminds of “Hancock”. Lol.
Quite right
Justin Figgins wow thanks for the confirmation that’s where he was stabbed
well he had some until Renaldo ate the whole dayum box
TF kinda jail is this?? No uniforms? Inmates get to walk wherever? A full shanking can go down a d the corporate gets away ? WTF?
mandalor-83 J the guards are in on it
mandalor-83 J it’s central booking in Baltimore lol it’s literally where every arrest goes while processed before they can see a judge.
@Michael yea central booking like that here
Yes that's b more for you
in Camden (Jerz) it's the same way..but once they say u going upstairs, u gotta run them clothes..but it ain't no prancing around the jail all freely in street gear..nah, you'll b in the bullpen...#facto#
Two of the coolest but scariest bodyguards ever
Omar was legit about the throw down😂I love this guy
Trust me it’s more important to fight to be someone’s bitch in jail
Butchie sent us :)
Yea thank fuckin god.
who da hell is butchie?
+james bondero the blind guy marlo and snoop kill youtube it
Butchie saved the day
Buchie was like a dad to Omar that was definitely a good looking out.
Omar thought his wig was gonna get split lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Omar sure did have quite the welcoming committee when he got to jail lol😂😂😂
GODDAMN!!! ..I miss this show.
thnx for this! 👍
RIP Michael K Williams. I just got to season 5 on my rewatch, and truly saddened by his passing.
He ripped off too many dope dealers!! lol
he had a 5k bounty on his head
@@justeungars7356 Not 5k. 5 figures. So 10k
I love how this is the adult equivalent of Bodie in being in boys village and asking "who in there?" And the guy says DC boys. He knew like Omar he had to get up out of there and back on the street regardless of who's in there. Survive no matter what lol
the man that gave omar the knife ..is the real omar !!! if u know u know
These gotta stop popping up in my feed.
Im 👌🏽 this close to rewatching the entire series for the 84739th time
