Really wish just once someone would demonstrate the incredibly deep synthesis capabilities this machine is said to possess. Under the hood it has "Dynamic V.A.S.T"....which is supposedly a massive expansion of the already insanely deep V.A.S.T of the original K series.... as well as their virtual analogue engine - VA-1, and a full blown FM synth engine....and yet all I ever hear from it is basic piano and organ patches.
Actual talk about the K2700 starts at 05:45.
We have been waiting over 20 years for this keyboard actually! 😉
Tried it at Superbooth last year, and it's great to see how easy it is still to program when you're familiar with the older K2x00s. It's a lot more modern, yet so familiar.
Glad you are letting everyone enjoy all the episodes of Talking Synths! That's a great decision!
Just want to say Carlos did an excellent job on playing the variation button!
Really enjoyed your initial look at the K2700... I'm an old timer with a Kurzweil PC-88 MX bought in '93 still in the basement that works like new with killer pianos, strings, etc. (I was also in a band playing Steely Dan stuff in the late 70's with my Rhodes, lol!)
Did several months of research, at first decided I should get the K2700 if it ever showed up (back in early April) - then got my head turned around & ended up buying the Montage 7. BIG MISTAKE! Thought I wanted keys that made less noise that I could play faster on (turned out the synth keys on the 7 version are noisy too). But -- I am first and foremost a piano player, & the tone and dynamics on the synth key Montage pianos sounded pretty pathetic to me. I'm boxing up this Montage on Tues, taking a long road trip to the music store where I bought it to exchange for the K2700!
Beautiful chord at the end there
Want a K2700 but my skill set doesn’t justify owning one. The mind is willing but the fingers are weak.
Thanks for the review.
You'll never be a player if you use cheap midi boards.
My skillset does justify owning one, my wallet doesn’t :-)
My buddy bought a K250 when it came out. I recorded some tracks with it. We thought it was from the future!
Nice overview. After owning several other 88-key boards over many years, I got a Kurzweil PC3x almost 20 years ago and it has been VERY good to me. I used it in a Journey tribute band and was able to get the "Separate Ways" synth sound exactly like the record, along with manhy other unique sounds. I've heard so many people/musicians say, "Man, that things sounds great!" even after all these years. But I've been waiting for Kurzweil to come up with just the right replacement for me; it looks like the K2700 might be it. My PC3x keybed is worn out! But EVERYTHING still works, no problems EVER. I'd still lke to hear more sounds and try the action. I've tried so many and they don't respond quick enough. NO reviewers ever show the rebound speed of the keys...if you play really fast (like I do), a key that take 4 times longer to rebound is worthless to me. My 2 cents!
Would’ve been nice hear it in stereo
For sure! Kind of bummed when I saw that.
I have a K2600XS but I need it K2700 viva kurzweil forever and ever
Thanks for the video! Does anyone know how well the k2700 integrates with DAWs to run VSTs and use the k2700 as a midi controller?
I hope for the K2776,i have a small, small studio.
Ooooooo! I’d love to do a showroom performance sometime, sounds like great fun!
Hopefully they have figured out their keybed problem they had with the early K2500Xs. For a unit that was never gigged or even moved, mine lost several keyweights within 6 years.
I'd say they fixed that. I've owned a Pc3K8 for 10 years and not one keybed problem unlike every other keyboard I've ever owned.
I prefer Langweil keyboards, thank you very much 😉
Could you do an episode on the Yamaha SY77?! I have recently purchased one, and there is no information, or videos on this synth.
wow!
Earned a sub.+like! Thank you!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t have any sampling option like the previous models,
Can it do 5.1? And can it work as an efx send and return in a daw?
I hear your room acoustics in your keyboard recording. I don't see any stereo output cables from the 2700. Does the 2700 have audio over USB? Are you recording over USB? The recording of the keyboard sounds horrible. Maybe using speakers and your dialog mic is capturing the speakers? I just bought a Kurzweil PC4 with the full VAST/FM sound design capability. Was hoping for a great acoustic piano sound but only got an average one like everyone else making Dpianos. I will be getting the Roland Vpiano next in the RD2000 my last hope for a great Dpiano for solo play.
Over 1/3 of the video not a word has been said about the actual keyboard.
Starts playing and sound quality of the video is terrible.
I would have loved to watch a good video about the K2700 though.
