I'm pretty sure a fainted Pokemon isn't completely passed out. They collapse from exhaustion in the battle as they retreat to their pokeball, but they are just out of energy to defend themselves in a battle. When you're exploring, they can still use their other abilities to help out, even if they're not able to battle.
Honestly, that makes more sense the more I think about it. They may faint from the battle, but after the battles over they have had enough time to rest and wake up again.

In the anime, they seem to wake up quite quickly if they're not put into their Pokeballs so that's more evidence in favour of this.

I think it's because he reads more fighting type than water type, whereas vaporeon, Squirtle and piplup read very water.

I can’t help but feel a little attacked when people say they dislike Hop and Hau for being good sports from losing at something they’re having fun at. Like them, sure I’d get a little frustrated, but I never really let it show. Instead, if I wanted to win so bad, I’d try and figure out what I did wrong, what I could’ve done better, and how I can improve. I actually liked how Hop actually switches up his team to see what works for him. Easily the best rival for that. I even like that Blue does it a little.
I can see it possibly being a little immersion-breaking for some people - you hand somebody a horrible, pride-sundering loss and they just chuckle it off and move on (though admittedly that sounds like a valid coping mechanism haha). But I do agree, I like seeing my rivals trying to improve, and I do really like how Hop was handled conceptually - in some other life Sword and Shield got just a bit more dev time to get everything fully baked.

Fun fact: Pikachu and Sachiko (Corpse Party) are both voiced by Ikue Otani and you can definitely hear Sachiko’s voice when Pikachu screams.
Did Noble forget that Hop loses confidence every time you beat him and becomes kinda depressed for a while until he decides to go down the path of a researcher instead of Champion? When he loses to you in the finals he turns his back on you and shakes his fist in frustration. He's later even more discouraged when he loses to someone in the postgame
A lot of Hop hatters ignore that and it causes people who don’t pay attention to the dialogue to think that way too

The only thing I know of Hop is one clip I saw showing that he calls your first battle a close call no matter how bad you destroy him in the match. For that alone I'm glad he canonically gets his dreams stepped on by the protagonist.
The Hypnos being scared of a thristy trainer I don't pity them.

It's not what Hypnos do, it's what people draw Hypno to do. Hypno only have a few if not just 1 dex entry about hypnotizing people, whereas other pokemon have multiple messed up dex entries. They are just the victims of the internet here. And I can't believe I'm defending Hypno considering the fact that I absolutely hate those images.
Tbf hypno looks a little creepy and it doesn't really seem nice at first glance, so can you really blame them?

Scarlet and Violet just wanted to pay homeage to red and blue, not only by being similar color variations, and pokemon red and blue easter eggs like the sprites on the psychic gym. But with the bugs as well. A true re-creation. 🙃

Unfortunately they forgot the most important part about Red and Blue: Most of the bugs required doing something specific to trigger them. SV (shouldn't it be StV to distinguish Scarlet from the other 5 S games?) just dumps them on you whenever it feels like it...
I think that the reason why early generation Pokemon are so weirdly small is to keep them from being too intimidating to kids, and to scale to the smaller scope of the first two generations, since the biggest events in RBY and GSC were gangs causing the occasional ruckus. It was when the games got into gods, alternate dimensions and near apocalypses that Pokemon started getting bigger in size to match.

You know, I'm surprised BDSP didn't do something special for Piplup since it's the most popular Sinnoh starter, like how XY gave Charizard two Megas and ORAS let you get a Torchic that has Blaziken's Mega's ability, Speed Boost, and a special form changing Greninja. But then again, BDSP was so badly managed that they probably couldn't fit in that sort of marketing because they were too busy making sure those games wouldn't delete people's Switches hard drives because they walked on the wrong grass tile.
The fact that Hisuian Pokemon exist in Kitakami is probably based on how a species that lives in one place can go extinct there, but can still be found in other places. In real life, wolves have disappeared from most of the US, but they can be found in Yellowstone. In the Pokemon world, the Pokemon considered Hisuian forms likely spread across the land as animals do before going extinct in what would now be called Sinnoh, and now they can still be found in some other places.

In regards to Gen 1 ghost... It also didn't help there were only 2 ghost moves, night shade that did flat damage based on level thus not getting a type bonus. and lick which has a base power of 40 and thus COMPLETELY USELESS.

That's maybe the funniest detail people consistently forget. Pokémon are actually way smaller than we imagine them, most of them just look big because the player trainer is always a quite young kid. But at the same time, it's realistic. Pokémon are animals, and when you look at the real world, animals aren't all that much bigger (relatively speaking, of course) and the really big animals are *really* big. I think we've kind of lost our sence of scale in modern times because a horse is a really big animal when you think about it, and a blue whale have a heart so large you could stand up right inside it, but I've heard people unironically say that they're "surprisingly small."

Fortunately I'm one of those people that was born not into the Vaporeon thing. Unfortunately the more you show me these creatures being "into it" themselves, the more I ask myself "Why not?"
never was into it especially since my first team ever included umbreon, jolteon and vaporeon. And vaporeon was one of my ace mons.
Funny thing @LostPause if you disable a Magikarp’s Splash move, it actually becomes a threat, and uses Struggle, (which is not a move listed in the Pokémon’s attacks btw) to do damage because the Pokémon doesn’t have anything to do and gets frustrated. Better yet, you can’t disable Struggle because it’s not an actual attack move. Evidence of the Pokémon Company outsmarting the player, right there, lol.

Funny personal anecdote about the MGM lion. When I was a child I vacationed in Las Vegas, where my parents and I went to visit the MGM studio there. I got to have my picture taken with a live lion cub in my lap that was a direct descendent of the MGM roaring lion. It was sleepy, soft and adorable.

Pokemon when fainting shrink down to a really small size until they recover, then grow big again. The poke balls take advantage of this shrinking to capture Pokemon.
It's never emphasized or shown in the shows, but it explains where the fainted pokemon go when they.. ya know.. shrink and disappear in the games.
