I just bought the roll n lock for my husband for Christmas. I did a lot of research before buying and it had everything he wanted. I feel pretty positive after watching your review. Thank you! We plan on getting a TruXedo Luaggage Expedition Cargo Bag installed to take care of smaller cargo that can roll around in the bed. Hoping that will fit with this cover and solve that problem!
Thank you for your review. I am in the process of reviewing bed covers and divider for my 2022 F150. Your 2-year review is awesome in helping me decide my purchase of what covers will work for me. Thanks again for your unbiased review.
Tx's for the review, I'm narrowing down to a hard cover roll up. May not be as convenient in some situations. The advantage of easily removing for full box length & cleaning as you mentioned are very important for my application. I have a an 8' bed because I need that @ times.
Thanks for sharing. I'm disappointed to learn about the cargo manager. Seemed like a pretty innovative product. It won't do anyone much good if it's too flimsy. I still like the Roll-n-lock cover.
Yeah, it didn't work for me. If you have boxes, grocery bags, etc it works perfectly well. It is attached to the top of the bed on a rail so for heavier, low cargo that slides around, it doesn't work as well. Really depends on how you use your bed. I found I was taking it out a lot to get full use of the bed and it wasn't helping me much when it was in there. Thanks for the comment!
@@upnorthguyI ended up going with the Roll-n-Lock and the cargo manager. I've had it about 5-1/2 months now and have been very happy with it. I mostly haul luggage, fishing gear, action-packers, groceries--stuff like that. I remove the cargo manager when I have heavier stuff. You're right about that. I don't think it's made top keep heavy items in place. But it rocks for 95% of my use cases.
I don't understand the complaint of it taking up too much room. It's a tonneau and will limit your bed with the intent of covering it..... absolute definition of. Is there something that doesn't? Isn't this the best option for limiting the space a tonneau cover takes up? i e. a trifold or 1 piece
A trifold comes completely out of the bed and gives you full access vs the roll up that has the box. Roll n Lock has the smallest box, but it still gets in the way from my experience. Thanks!
Nice video. Long term user reviews are the best. I'm deciding between the Roll N Lock vinyl cover and the Retrax. Retrax does have the bigger cannister. Did you ever consider the Retrax?. You probably would have mentioned it but has your Roll N Lock ever come open when driving?. Thanks.
Hi- I did not look closely at the Retrax, my focus was on the smallest box for the retractable, which the Roll n Lock has. I did have the cover come open a couple of times, right after I installed it and when going over some bumps. I just had to tighten it some more, and then kept it locked which prevented it from opening. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for reply! Mine only stays closed when it’s all the way closed. If I leave in another position it rolls back into the canister shortly into the drive (tried multiple adjustments) Customer service from Real Truck told me it’s not meant to be driven in the other positions which I thought was weird and couldn’t figure out why you would have them otherwise. Thanks for letting me know yours operates how I thought it should.
When you open the Tonneau cover, it does expose the bed. There is only one lock at the back of the cover. The cover is one piece of connected slats that rolls in and out of the box at the front. Hope this helps, thanks for the feedback and comments!
I'm wondering have you notice any noise coming from the box, I hear some sort of rattling noisy coming from the box. Is there anyway you can tighten up any bolts? Thanks for your input.
I didn’t hear any noise in mine. The only thing to tighten might be the tang and screw that attaches the side rails on each side near the box. Or perhaps the screws that hold the box lid on are loose? Best of luck!
Other than an occasional little bit in the corners after a long or hard rain, it did not leak. I think this is typical of all tonneaus, they are not watertight. It did not leak at all through the slats, even after taking it through a car wash.
I'm debating between getting the a series or the m series roll n lock. I've had the m series before and that vinyl cover really kept about 99% of the water out. Do you find the metal slats do just as good? I understand pretty much every tonneau covers going to leak at the back corners near the tailgate but what I don't want is my cargo getting wet. I currently have a retrax pro and it is awful as far as leaking is concerned.
Yes could do that, it would eliminate the cord problem. But electric ones more expensive. I ended up replacing mine with a trifold & rack system which I am getting more use out of. Put a video on my channel if you’re interested!

You’re welcome! Best of luck in your research!
I’ve had mine almost 3 years. I noticed some paint coming off on the part you grab to move it. They sent me a new canister. I’m happy with it overall.
Great! Thanks for the comment!

@@jimgrill great to hear! glad you are enjoying it!
Water does get in the box, but it flows out through the drain tubes (assuming they are not clogged)
Does it have a locking feature where you need a key? Or can anyone just walk over and open it?
Yes it has a lock that has a key. If not locked anyone can get in.
I m going with XT. M Have the option to put a rack on is my choice.

Can you drive in the other locking positions without it closing on it's own? Supplier says it's only meant for loading and unloading.
Yes you can! That is the advantage of the multiple positions when you have loads of different sizes. Never heard it wasn’t for driving that way.

Sir, what type of liner do you have in your truck ?
I have the Bedrug, and love it btw!

can you still open the Tonneau cover without opening the bed? or is there a lock under neath to prevent it from opening

Do you have any issues with ice or snow building up in the track or box?
Not the track or box, but it can freeze between the cover slats if it melts then freezes. Didn’t happen too much for me but it does happen.
Does it leak water and if so how much and can you stop it from leaking

You can always move up a get the electric cover .
