I think this is why I appreciate the older lego video games allowing for more walkable surfaces; if I need to skip a small area or get to a place I shouldn't be yet, I can just double jump to get across an area or use a hover character to get there instead of going about it the way the game wants you to go about it.
It has to be said, for the games to be based around one of the most creativity inspiring toy brands in the world, the games themselves are awfully restricted and linear. Even modern ones have the same issue where there's 1 way to play each level and that's the only way.
@@Bendernity freedom of exploration, as someone who came from Quake and DOOM, going against the rules of the game to achieve a goal early or without much effort is a good thing for both developers and their player base
Funny how ever since I was a kid I technically was doing a speedrun technique, the DV3 jump was something I figured out on my own and did every time I did that fight and it’s still in the back of my mind
I spent a majority of my childhood playing this game, countless Saturday mornings lost to the complete saga. But I had no idea how big the speed running community was for this game! It’s incredible, so glad I found this channel!
I vaguely remember having either attempted or actually done the DV3 jump when I was playing through the game once, not sure how the devs didn't anticipate players to try that.
Honestly the most interesting thing about this video was seeing a classic Lego Star Wars level with a free cam. Makes it look wildly different, honestly. Kinda makes me want some sort of remake of the classic titles, even Indiana Jones and Lego Batman.
I would personally like to see a remake of Lego Star Wars III. It was one of the first games I bought as a kid, and needless to say it was a big part of my childhood.
It’s just so baffling that you can have quite literally the perfect run. Every single level before this done perfect with no time loss, over 2 hours of perfection, only to have the last two levels absolutely demolish everything
Love the visualizations in your videos, I'm playing through TCS again casually but I like to look up speedrunning strats just to see what people can do with the game. Keep doing what you're doing, these videos are great.
I decided to 100% the game. When having to do this, THIS LEVEL SUCKS!!! I completed super story with 1 second left. Everything came down to this level. I got lucky😮💨
I feel your pain. The I-III Super Stories were easy enough, but the stormtroopers in “Death Star Escape,” “Cloud City Trap,” and all the Gammorean Guards in “Jabba’s Palace” and the bogies in “The Great Pit of Carkoon” brought the IV-VI Super Stories down to the wire.
I HATE THIS LEVEL! hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate it. And that's for normal play. It was such a pain to get those minikits. Only that spiral staircase in lego lotr has given me similar suffering. Lego games are a joy to kids and probably trauma to some adults.
There is a software called BrickBench developed by two community members that lets you view the map files and assets of the game. If you're curious, you can download it here: github.com/BrickBench/BrickBench
Yeah you need to do a bit of work to be able to actually use it. This video covers how to get BrickBench all setup: if you are interested: ruclips.net/video/Iig69LBNtS4/видео.html
Can you send me a spreadsheet of how many minikits it’s possible to get in every level in story, and how it’s possible to do that? that would help me very much.
You're actually such a clown lmao If you don't care, then why did you clearly click on the video AND comment? Plus there are people who actually care about what the video has to say, it has thousands of views You definitely deserve the pin of shame, cuz holy shit, that's such a pathetic comment to make. Are you like twelve years old or something? Geez.
For people that like glitchy and highly exploitive runs Lego runs really are the way to go. There are so many weird skips and specific tricks and none of them completely destroy the game, so it's still a long run. Every movement is highly optimizable.
Something feels thematically appropriate about this level being the one that makes or breaks a speedrun. A true test of a learning jedi.

Level redesign or lack of detailed testing
I feel like many people attempted that as kids. Still don't remember if I ever succeeded.

indiana jones has to get a remaster especially w the new movies

Another banger as usual, no surprise there. Literal chills when fastest dv1 started playing 🔥
Wish you made more of these videos more often. High quality as always
looking to do so more in 2024, hopefully another one of these soon

great video, i learned about the floor next to walls not being respawnable part and fastest DV1, also glad i could make a very short cameo at 12:56

Loved this game as a kid!
It always amazes me how games are broken down and analyzed for speedruns
It scares me.
11:30 can you use this method to help with the precise jump in DV1 and DV3?
You can do that, but getting an edge boost is about as hard as getting DV3 normally, so people don’t really do it for that reason.
this is hugeeee
Very good chimkin!
Good job, very well explained.
Dammit, now im gonna go watch speedrun videos again.
