    Seems to me the Super pocket is a gateway drug, but also a potential companion to VS/EXP. I'll probably pick up the Taito one in the new year.

    • @TornadoCreator
      @TornadoCreator 8 месяцев назад +1

      I'd be considering them as potential Xmas presents for someone who's expressed an interest in retro gaming, but isn't all the way invested. Both the Capcom and Taito versions have great built in games. The only shame is that there isn't a cartridge with these built in games. So if you want both the Capcom and Taito games you essentially need to buy two systems.

    I think it comes down to how much you're looking to spend and whether you care about extra features...I have the EXP and pre-ordered the Taito Super Pocket, if I like it I plan to buy the Capcom Super Pocket as holiday gifts for family who are more casual gamers.

    Brilliant as always Burger Sir!
    Have the limited editions of the handhelds on order, I guess they are the same except for having transparent cases. Have to say I was a little alarmed when I seen the handheld you tested in your video, I could not help but notice quite substantial light bleed on the left hand side of the screen!
    I guess the vs is for extended game sessions, exp for soap opera sessions and the these for quick blast sessions!
    I am really looking forward to the Duke Nukem vs and games!
    Stay amazing Sir!

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  8 месяцев назад

      Lol cheers Sam. When looking straight on whilst playing the super pocket, I never noticed the light bleed. I've been assured the final versions won't have this.. we will see... none of the early reviews have commented on light bleed.. suppose that'll be up to me to check when I get them. On release day hopefully!

    I picked an EXP up from Argos in May this year and when you play it in a dark room you can see the green and orange lights from the charging socket and whatever else they are very clearly. Doesn't bother me too much, but if this was not a deliberate design choice I'm surprised it passed testing.

    Great video and good comparisons. I love my EXP. Thy only areas I'm not keen on with the EXP are the god awful speakers and the Tate mode, which is a great idea but in execution is really quite poor and uncomfortable for more than a few minutes. But everything else is spot on.
    As for the Super Pockets, as an Evercade owner and collector, they're not for me. I can see the appeal, and it seems that they're really well built for the price, but there's just not enough there for me - especially the Capcom system, which has 6 less games than the EXP has built in. It's a great entry for anyone interested in compact, officially licenced retro gaming, and a good value for those wanting to get into the world of Evercade, but for someone like me who's invested in the Evercade ecosystem, I just don't see the need for them.
    Could be great stocking fillers though!

    • @CrazyBurger

    If you cannot update the firmware on HyperMegaTech, then the compatibility with Evercade cartridges will become limited over time. Some newer carts require system updates to run properly (Team 17 etc.). But as an entry-level hardware to the Evercade ecosystem, it looks nice.

    I think the Super pockets actually could be seen as better?! 🤔. If you can see them as “Collection” handhelds ONLY. In which Blaze has the option of giving us those out of bounds game companies games !Which you know you know we will NEVER see on the EXP! They just need to push forward in giving us MORE than these Two though to do that! I personally think they are a distraction to the main machine! 🤔

  • @obsoleteworlds
    @obsoleteworlds 8 месяцев назад +2

    Already on my second EXP and not really interested in the Super Pocket. I wouldn't recommend the EXP to anyone just purely on the vast number of issues people including myself have had with it and the fact that screen aside it doesn't feel anywhere near as premium as the price tag justified. The sound is worse than the original handheld and many of the issues with build quality are retained. You also can't be sure which batch you'd be buying for and its becoming increasingly clear that the initial batch most likely all had faulty batteries.

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  8 месяцев назад +1

      I've had zero issues with my founders edition. So can't complain there. The early batches of the white were definitely flawed.

      Agree. Also on my second EXP. Blaze was great with the customer service, but it makes me wary of their hardware going forward. The OG Evercade (with most current firmware) has been great for me still.

    Have they officially announced anywhere a revision of the exp that resolves all the early teething problems with the launch models I'd like to know. So I can ask a retailer wether I'll receive a model free of issues before I buy one, this is one of the main reasons I'm hesitant to buy. Cos I'm not willing to buy one with the launch issues

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  8 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly I've no idea. I wouldn't have any confidence in saying any unit you buy now would be free of issues. It would be unclear what versions retailers are stocking. I'd like to think they would be good stock but I couldn't guarantee that.

    I've got two EXP, both faulty. This right now looks like a much better deal. Until I hold one and see how comfortable it is, I'll never truly know. But, the fact they got a basic form of dip switch and excellent screen, this to me is better. Dip switches for Evercade are still not coming until NEXT YEAR 😂😢

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  8 месяцев назад

      Wow that's brutal. They've taken forever to get dip switches onto the EXP.. yet we'll have the ability to choose easy mode for the arcade games straight from launch of the Super Pocket.. I wonder if this will work with every arcade game or just the pre installed ones?..

    • @yandman26
      @yandman26 8 месяцев назад

      @@CrazyBurger All arcade games. This has been designed with a very similar but different O.S. Sadly it would seem that as nobody ever thought dip switches were required, the Evercade systems have no capability for it, meaning they're trying to shoe horn something in, that doesn't really fit. Like most things with these systems, I have to question the thought process and design of those involved. These are basic requirements for anything these days. To create physical systems without it, is ludicrous.
