  • BASS pro, John Crews, shows how to tie the FG Knot. It connects braided line to fluorocarbon line. The knot is actually stronger than either line individually when tied correctly. Watch and learn the best connection knot.

that was the best demonstration I've seen tying this knot. I am still not sure it's worth the hassle, but i will have to try this again, using your lesson. Thanks John!

Been tying the FG Knot for about two months and am doing fairly well with it. I liked the advice on using your knee to keep the leader tight. I think that will help me on tying this knot more proficiently.

By far the best video on the FG knot yet! Just got a couple of new daiwas with ags guides so I really need to make this knot perfect.

Thank you John. Best demonstration I've seen yet on this knot. I love using it but now that I have seen your tips on it I won't DREAD tying it. 😆

Thanks John!! That was well done. Alot like a bimini twist in the fact it requires tension. Many have tried to show me this one but they all suck at it. I got it now

I have been learning the FG Knot and plan to use it this year. I have sausage fingers so it is difficult but I bought a Daiichi Seiko Knot Assist 2.0 tool and it works amazing. The one thing I learned is to make sure the leader is thicker than the braid or close to it.

Best FG Knot video... But correct me if im wrong... I seen you do half hitch or overhand knot on braid, then sinch it down and repeat... Other guys i watched i thought did half hitch or over hand on both floro and braid... Was this a mistake by accident or is this just how you do it. Thanks John... Quickly becoming one my favorite channels.

It is just how I do it. It keeps the knot from unraveling. Thanks!

Can you do this same video opening but when you go to tie it put the camera on your back left shoulder up high? This will give us the perspective to nail this knot and get it exactly right.

What you have shown makes more sense. I've seen other demonstrations of it and followed their steps only to see the leader slip away. They use the braid instead of the leader to do the weaving and what I always end up with is the flourocarbon leader just pulls right out.

I had that problem too but I found that you need tension on the 20 wraps as you make them. Then the two 1/2 hithches, pull to tighten. I found my floro pulling out when I didn't have enough tension on those 20 wraps. Another decent knot, and easy to tie it the Alberto. Very strong but slightly thicker knot. I'm gonna try the FG and see how it goes....

I have been playing with that knot for almost two years now, and I still screw it up every other time I tie it! It usually slips on me.

My problem is the leaders break when I cinch it. My finesse stuff ig's 4-8lb test. Very hard to seat an fg with that line

This is what I was using before the FG Knot. I found that it was unreliable with lighter fluorocarbon leader.

Me too but one cast of the thin fg knot sliding unnoticed through my guides and I havent gone back. Each their own though. If it fishes, right?

It is an amazing knot and I use a tool to tie it. I tested the FG using a uniknot at the hook and fg to the braid and tested it 20 times. With 20 lb leader it broke at the uniknot at 18 to 19 pounds every time. The combo is perfect for bass fishing.
