Correction: the first use of the Anti-Kryptonite suit was against Parasite in the episode "Feeding Time." Our bad.
you forgot 2 costumes the one when he work for lex luthor and the justice lord one
We have chosen to focus on the superheroes of "our universe" for these specific videos. We did the same with Batman to avoid tie-in comic book continuity confusion when dealing with the Justice Lords universe.
Watchtower Database I think the Betond suit needed more time in the design stage. It just isnt Superman. It reminds me of Superman Lives how they tried to give him no cape and a black and white costume. I think givng the costume the classic colors would have helped or at least allow for some yellow and red.
America Eagle they also could, and should have borrowed some elements from the “Kingdom Come” storyline, for his “Beyond” outfit.
The Scuba suit is also in "The Prometheon"
Superman: Ah I have quite a few suits maybe I should shorten them down. Now that I think of it how much suits do you have Bruce?
Batman: Uh how much time do you have cause I’m not sure if I made a yellow one
shit where'd it go, it was right here in starcrossed!!
I never thought his trunks were black, just a very shiny, metallic red. But maybe they were going for black! If they were Red, though, it is weird because Batman's suit has a similar effect and is obviously black. Same with, like, Bruce Wayne/Clark Kent's hair in old comics, and even Spider-Man's black parts (instead of blue) in his first appearance. It probably is just the broader color pallet, though. They should have just gone with plain red in the beginning.
No, they weren't black. The darker portion was also red. Just a darker red. When something is black in a cartoon or comic book you almost never see highlights in anything but blue and sometimes grey. It's a convention that's simply been accepted and doesn't make much sense to change. So if you see a red highlight odds are that item is meant to be red. They were colored that way to add some detail because they thought it looked cool. It's called a highlight. It's similar to the DCAU Flash because they draw him to appear lit around the borders of his model and the rest is shaded. That's called rim lighting. It's just meant to look better onscreen.
I just found a picture of the toy released in 1996 and he clearly has red trunks, not black.
We Remotely Low in apider-man’s first appearence, his costume was indeed red and black, then it turned into red and navy and Ditko drew him both of those ways until around when John Romita took over, either him, the colourist or the editoriak decided to do his costume as red and light blue.
@@pamir2593 Yessir!
@@hezekiahramirez6965 Yeah, well also with Flash, Supe's trunks more closely resemble that type of red look in Justice League
I love his Caveman outfit it shows he's a survivor
While I generally love the blue and red design from TAS, I would give anything for a good “DC Collectibles” figure of the Beyond costume. Capes are so 20th century!
NO CAPES.
PLEASE do this for the REST of the DCAU characters! As a future character-designer, I LOVE seeing all of these amazing designs, listening to the stories they hold, and picking out which is my favorite
I love the Batman Beyond suit and hope to see it appear as a skin in MultiVersus, along with Batman's future suit as well, or course.
Always did like that space suit he used in "The Return." I liked all of Superman's costumes: even if the special ones were made to sell toys, they were great designs and there was always a valid reason for Superman to wear them.
As for his main costume... I think Superman the Animated Series nailed it. You hardly even miss that famous yellow S that's usually on the back of the cape in the comics. His Batman Beyond suit was also fantastic, and I wonder if the creators had a backstory in mind for why Supes decided to switch his traditional colors for black and white. If they ever do a Justice League Beyond like they had contemplated doing at what point, maybe we'll find out!
Gokitalo or a “Justice League: The Next Generation” series. That I would pay to see.
probably to honor his kyptonian heritage.
I feel like Superman's Batman Beyond design would have been great if they had just kept it red and blue.
M. Chedderbeef I think that they should’ve kept the red and blue as well.
I like that it's black like his suit after Death of Superman, implying that since he's older he needs a black suit to absorb more of the sun's radiation to maintain his power
@@alexfrance5545 yep thats the point
Guess Superman watch _The Incredibles_ around the Batman Beyond Era and decided *NO CAPES!*
Classic and patriotic! 🇺🇸
I always considered his ‘pants’ to be very dark red, and the red highlight stripe was to represent that, like on Batman’s.
Okay. Superman could NEVER breathe in space--there is nothing to breathe. He held his breath. Powered down, he didn't always need a spacesuit in the comics but did use an oxygen mask.
Joel U. While it’s not breathing it’s just not needing air
Joel U. Superman doesn't need oxygen
@@thatcomicguy964 he does, just significantly not as much as we do
@@zyaicob in comics he doesn't need it.
How about the fascist Superman in the dimension where Louis dies and he allies with Luthor? Or the Justice Lord Superman? Also, it doesn't seem as if he ages all that much slower than humans, but because of the yellow sun, he still has more agility and stamina. I mean, he only looks about 15 or 20 years younger than Bruce, assuming they are about the same age.
DogFoxHybrid Great thoughts! We decided to focus on Superman's "our universe" costumes, so we aren't counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
Would love a version that has those in it to. I forgot how many alternate world ones there are so would be neat to see.
SteamTitan I agree that there should be a Multiverse section on the characters’ outfits.
Autumn_Sun He does age slower though.
Lois lane: Nice S
Me: Did you forget an A and S ?
Man I loved the space suit the most. I remember when I was a kid and got the toy for Christmas, I was so excited and took it everywhere with me!
Yo I just noticed, Superman's Apocalypse Armour is very similar to Stephenwolf's New 52/DCEU suit
Interesting connection
Yeah it kinda is hey?
My favorite is the one he made while in that alternate future. It just looks really cool to me
Honey, where's my super suit?
"I, uh, put it away!"
Superman: “Where is mu supersuit!?”
Superman the Animated Series suit is the best. The red in the later tv shows were a bit darker, although the cape did look a bit longer.
First time I’ve seen the beyond Superman before, that shit looks dope.
5:20 this costume also follows the Alex Ross redesign formula.
It's same as His version of Spider-Man movie costume or Bucky Cap costume.
Same V shaped torso, with All black legs and some color on arms.
I really like it. Also, ofc, for resembling Kryptonian aesthetic. Looks like he Really embraced Both worlds as his character arc.
Absolute brilliance.
My favorite suit is his Apokoliptan battle armor. It makes him look like a New God, and his power set compliments his image as a God of Apokolis
Love how the outfit is not only expanded by special variations for anti-Kryptonite, underwater, and space exo-travel roles made by helpful allies, but also became influential enough for other superheroes to base their own suits after his fashion.
However, I sure do start to miss the classic look come the Batman Beyond era. Doesn't help that it eerily looks a bit like his Justice Lord iteration's suit.
Addendum: And am spoiled on the idea that he should still function well without a space suit nowadays.
The Justice Lord Superman's costume was pretty neat.
To quote Edna Mode: "NO CAPES! 😂"
Justice Lords! Justice Lords!
DarthAlphaTheGreat We decided to focus on Superman's "our universe" costumes, so we aren't counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
My favorite one is the Batman beyond superman suit.
Good work, man!
In case if anyone didn’t noticed; I believe the symbol for the future suit is a clear reference and pays homage to the Kingdom Come suit (also set in the future). I think they probably knew the comic at the time when they first thought of bringing Superman in the Beyond series cuz they look a bit similar.
Wait, Superman just tied his blanket around his neck!?! HHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Classic suit. Gotta love the classics am i right
Blue_Bat 03 absolutely. Nothing can beat the classics.
Actually the suit's ability to resist damage was retconned by John Byrne back in the 1986 miniseries "Man Of Steel"!
His explanation allowed the suit to be amazingly durable and be amazingly shredded for dramatic effect when desired!
Justice League/Unlimited was my favorite variation of his Super Suit 🔥💪👌
My favorite superman suit is the one from batman beyond
Awesome video
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (the animated movie) that suit is my second suit favorite of The Man of Steel, my first favorite suit of The Man of Steel is the suit in the graphic novel Superman: For tomorrow drawn by Jim Lee
I'm sure someone mentioned it by now, but you forgot to mention the Justice Lord Superman suit, which was an impressive suit, as well!
Didn’t forget, just chose to only go with the suits worn by “our” Superman.
I still love the fact that superman can put on glasses an slouch a little and all of a sudden nobody notices he's like 6"5 and built like an absolute unit
Have you done a video on the Justice Lord costumes? If not, I hope you do. Also, I hope you do one on the costumes of the various Green Lanterns!
Classic suite always
Personally i prefer the first one.
Superman is DC comics linus, he always brought his blankie with him.
Im happy he eventually ended up wearing pants as underwear
DCAU really did well with his powers. Especially for serialized format.
Overpowered Superman doesn't make sense except for Silver Age stories where he defeated villain all along but pretending to be -rеtаrdеd- defeated until final page.
Especially if he is Also Super genius.
Especially if he also has superbots with powers equal to his
Especially if he also has miniature Kandor with Super Squad👨👨👧👧
Also making him unable to go too deep in the water or in space without suit was amazing idea as well.
I feel so bad for you guys, so many Justice Lord comments out there 😂😂
I like both classic and futuristic costumes
Classic
Captain Jakemerica Same
Justice lords suit
You missed one as far as I can tell. The Black costume with Red crest featured in "Brave New Metropolis".
Just the “normal” ones for this video. But this IS a very, very old video. We probably would’ve included everything if we made it today.
His neo Gotham Era suit was best
Perhaps because it was in a hallucination that you left out the outfit he wore during the episode "For The Man Who Has Everything" while on Krypton.
Yeah, just stuck to the suits he wore in “the real world.”
I don't like the Beyond design myself, I'd have preferred it if he had kept the red, blue, and gold colour scheme, especially as it keeps with Jor El's outfit. I feel the Justice Lords version did a better job overall, but I think that shows the black and white suit works better for a villain.
Nothing can beat the classic red and blue. Best worn in live-action by Christopher Reeve (1952-2004).
The real reason Hamilton turned against Superman? He was sick of making new anti-kryptonite suits for Superman.
Why did I have a Kryptonian battle flag on Apokolips?
What was I thinking with the future suit?
I perfect the classic
i thought this vid was about lawsuits concerning dcau.
Onat Now THERE'S an interesting topic...
@@dcauwatchtower whill it finaly happen?
My fav hero
What about the Justice Lord Superman suit.
We decided to focus on Superman’s “our universe” costumes, so we aren’t counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
@@dcauwatchtower Thanks for the explanation. The video was great.
Okay, yes. The glasses thing is stupid. There's no way an office full of reporters, at least two of whom have won Pulitzers, would not recognize that their co-worker is the most famous hero in the world whom they have also seen up close and personal multiple times. No matter how you try to justify it, it's ridiculous. But if you're a Superman fan, as I am, you just need to accept it. If it bothers you that much then I think Superman probably just isn't for you.
I dunno. Some guys can REALLY make the difference convincing. Though as much as I love the animated one, I can't really say that Tim Daly is one of them.
"Honey.. WHERE'S MY SUPER SUIT?"
do a video about Nightwing please
Why don't you include the Justice Lords suits? Those costumes were shown twice in the entire Justice League series. They first debuted in A Better World and returned as the doppelgangers of the Justice League created by Lex Luthor with Brainiac in Divided We Fall.
We have chosen to focus on the superheroes of "our universe" for these specific videos. We did the same with Batman to avoid tie-in comic book continuity confusion when dealing with the Justice Lords universe.
Good shit
Futuristic
Why was the evil future luthor Superman suit not mentioned? Or how it’s similar to the Batman Beyond ver of the supersuit?!
These were just the “main” costumes. Didn’t include any alternate looks. But also, this was a SUPER early video on the channel, we’re much more comprehensive now, haha.
Am I the only one who's bothered by the fact super man can't breath in outer space
Cyber Tiger there's nothing to breathe.
Yeah, you are. He shouldn’t be able to breathe in space at all.
I never understood if Superman's super suit that was made from the blanket he came to Earth in is bulletproof and almost indestructible then how did Ma Kent Taylor it into a super costume how did a regular needle Pierce through it to sew it together?
in fact always and forever the original red and blue
Trinston was here
Don’t forget the fleicher brothers cartoons.
Just focused on the DCAU here!
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THE ‘S’ BACKGROUND COLOUR TO BE WAY MORE YELLOW IN JL FIRST SEASON????
i've got a question how much was roy included in dcau and how old is he just as wally and dick? is a member of the league or was it a one time thing in one episode?
Speedy was a "reserve member" of the League in "Justice League Unlimited." He only made one appearance, "Patriot Act." His age is never stated, though he appears to be at a point in his career where he has moved on from being Green Arrow's sidekick into his own solo adventures, much like Dick Grayson did as Nightwing, so it's safe to assume those two are around the same age. Wally West, however, has been portrayed as a bit older, appearing in the "Superman" episode "Speed Demons" as a full-grown adult around the same time Dick Grayson would have been in his mid-20's.
Watchtower Database thank you mate👍
Wally West was actually the main Flash throughout the whole of the DCAU. It was confirmed several times in multiple series. And technically Roy Harper did appear a few more times but it was in the comics. I don't particularly feel like going through all the issues to find which ones but he even shared a cover with Booster Gold once.
You forgot the Justice Lords suit and the suit he wears in the alternate future where Alex Luther takes over the world.
MeThinks995 they kept it to Earth-1.
You forgot the Justice Lords Superman costume.
We decided to focus on Superman’s “our universe” costumes, so we aren’t counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
@@dcauwatchtower ok.
iirc the neo gotham outfit was meant to mimic police officers uniform on krypton.
For sure! Same design scheme
Batman: The Animated Series is the start of the entire DC Animated Universe.
You got it!
you didn't mention the justice Lord's costume!
We have chosen to focus on the superheroes of "our universe" for these specific videos. We did the same with Batman to avoid tie-in comic book continuity confusion when dealing with the Justice Lords universe.
Watchtower Database Okie dokie
What about the justice lord superman suit
justice lord superman has the best one
Didn’t include any costumes from alternate versions of Superman
what about the suit superman wears in alternate Futures , like justice lord or the pseudo- injustice timeline that lois visited
We decided to focus on Superman's "our universe" costumes, so we aren't counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
honey where's my super suit?!
Would the justice lords Superman suit count?
always found it weird how in the future, he used basically the suit from the alternate dimension where he and lex luthor oppressed the shit out of everyone. how you gonna garble up your family crest? that thing's important.
yeah I agree
Yall forgot his black suit from the alternate universe.
We have chosen to focus on the superheroes of "our universe" for these specific videos. We did the same with Batman to avoid tie-in comic book continuity confusion when dealing with the Justice Lords universe.
Watchtower Database
It wasnt in the justice lords universe. It was on Superman the animated series. Lois went to a dystopian future and he had a grey costume similar to Red son.
Watchtower Database
The episode is "Brave new metroplis"
You forgot the justice lords superman suit.
Zaki Al Hashimi We have chosen to focus on the superheroes of "our universe" for these specific videos. We did the same with Batman to avoid tie-in comic book continuity confusion when dealing with the Justice Lords universe.
The best supersuit is the justice lords suit
Honey? WHERE IS MY SUPERSUIT!?
Mine is his Clark Kent outfits.
Wait... Terry is Bruce’s son?!?! DUDE!! I just started the series!!!!
...when do we even say that in this video?
Watchtower Database huh, that must be an error of the RUclips App, because I postes that comment in the “Let’s Keep Epilogue A Secret”
Oh! Gotcha. There IS a spoiler warning at the start of that video!
Oh really? Huh, I wasn’t paying attention when the alert appeared haha
In the 5th episode of the Justice League called "In The Blackest Night Part 2" Superman wears another spacial suit, does that count as a Supersuit?
Huh. I thought you were going to include Lord Superman.
Just the “our universe” suits for this video!
Well if it's the special suits I like the blue space suit
Did you miss the justice lord costume
We decided to focus on Superman's "our universe" costumes, so we aren't counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
In Justice League his cape is longer right?
A bit, yes, stylistically.
All super suit look like yugi would wear
soo, he cant breath in space but he can in water..?
Nope! Can’t breathe in water in the DCAU either.
I hated that they changed voice actors for Superman Beyond
NGL the Apokalyps suit was DRIP
What about the black and red suit?
We decided to focus on Superman's "our universe" costumes, so we aren't counting ones from other dimensions. We did the same on the Batsuits video. Hope you enjoyed it!
