- Watch this abbreviated cut of the resurrection of Evel Knievel’s world famous Mack show truck & hauler, also known as “Big Red.”
A massive undertaking led by the Evel Knievel Museum founders, Historic Harley Davidson, and an assembled team of 92 individuals with one singular goal- RESURRECTING EVEL.
Grew up watching that man jump a true pioneer in extreme sports. Thanks to everyone involved in the restoration and persevering his piece of history
My Dad, Bob Rogers, was a painter at Mack Western. He designed and did all the original pin striping on the truck by hand. Have an old black and white photo of him and all the other guys who worked on it as it rolled off the line :)
That's my Dad standing to the left of the guy in the black jacket at 9:43 :)
Big thanks to all these people who brought that rig back to glory!
True that . A true piece of American and Trucking History .
Evel, and Mack Trucks, two American icons!🇺🇸💪👍
Harley Davidson too
@@yanni2112 Harley Davidson and Bud Light go great together.
@@dr.jiIIaIicecooper2587 that wasnt nice🤣 former Mack owner, current HD owner (3) and non drinker
God Bless each and every one that took the time to restore this piece of history....
I got an Evel Knievel toy for Christmas in the 70's. 'MERICA!!!
I remember this truck and trailer parked behind the old Jerrys Hot Rods in Clearwater Fl.
I used to run into Evil at the clubs from time to time in the early 2000's....
What is really sad is how they let the truck get to such bad shape😪 good job resurrecting this Mack
That’s what I was wondering. Did they just acquire it ?
@@Iz0pen Evel had to let it go like that, after so long, he really didn't have the money to maintain it. Also, i think by then he had other priorities. The guys that restored it, made it happen after Evel passed on.
Ah, great times as a kid- Thanks for taking me back and awesome resto team! Hope to see it someday...
What a great job restoring this,my thanks go out to each and every one of you involved in this project, many thanks.
thank You very much for preserving a important piece of our history Well Done
So cool to see such a meticulous restoration. As kids my brother and I frequented our local cycle shop in Great Falls, the owner of which was good friends with Robert Sr. Quite often he would put bikes, helmets, suits on display, and even met him there a couple times. It is absolutely awesome to see this truck restored. Last time I saw it, it was still fairly new. Great job!
What a beautiful restoration…man was iconic
He was one of my idols growing up! So glad you posted this! Thanks for bringing back the memories!😊
Beautiful restoration!!
Saw it on a episode of Shipping Wars and it was sad to see it in such bad shape. Congratulations to all involved!
Thank you and to all that saved this equipment. We need more folks like him now.
Very cool! Awesome that it is restored and saved for the future folks to enjoy.
I am glad somebody had the foresight to find this truck and restore it as a piece of American history that it has become. Great job to all involved
Great job to all of those involved in the restoration of this piece of history.
Watching this brought back some really great memories from my childhood. I was one of those kids obsessed with Evel Knievel and I'm still a fan today. Every time a clip of him pops on RUclips I just have to watch it. Thanks for doing this awesome restoration and for the bringing back those great memories.
Brilliant restoration. Watched the man on TV when I was a kid.
The three kids riding wheelies with banana seat bicycles at 6:58 is a powerful image for anybody who grew up in the 70's. Great video, this was an incredibly authentic restoration process. Thank you to everyone involved.
Thank you for Rebuilding this Truck! I can't tell you what it means to me.
Best Wishes from Montana! M.H.
What a true American icon. I too grew up watching Evil do his jumps . A true American . 🇺🇸
I like to say this to each and everyone of those men that worked on this Rig,,,,,,,,
Thank you for saving and bringing back part of America’s growing up memories of what we all thought was the most unbelievable and most gutsy man on a Harley Davidson.
Thank you for saving our generations memories.
When I was a kid in the mid 70s I had all if his toys. A legend right there.
Seeing this masterpiece is so uplifting. An absolutely beautiful tribute to a great legend. This is so cool. Evil Knievil the legend lives on.
About a year ago I spent a afternoon enjoying y'alls museum. ❤
what a great tribute to the legend and what a undertaking to restore that rig unreal great job now i have to go and find it to see it with my own two eyes
Las Vegas on 2025
Great American!! Thanks Evel for the memories.
Everything that is shown & done here including putting the video together is absolutely over the top . So amazingly cool . Hi 5 and double thumbs up to everyone who took part in this project on any level . I do have 1 question though 🤔 after Evil retired , why on earth would Evils family not have wanted to restore this rig just to keep the memory of Evils achievements alive . Why would they have let it deteriorate to the state it was found in , let alone sell it ?
Also his jet was found in dessert in shambles 😢
I watched a video of when it was discovered and pulled out for the first time in a while and was blown away to discover I'd been driving right past it for years. I knew where it was the moment they showed the sign in front of the building.
Tucked away in the back lot of a body/custom shop, hidden in plain sight, but with the overgrowth and fencing it wasn't visible from the road. lol
And it made perfect sense since Evel lived just a few miles from the place. I met him briefly on one occasion when I worked at Lokey Mercedes in Clearwater Florida because he had a burned out marker light in his Benz. Swapped it out right there in the in the drive and he was on his way. An absolute legend to me growing up. I'm glad to see this history live on.
I was surprised there was no footage of Mark from Shipping Wars hauling it from there. I thought for sure they would show that. I wonder how much of the original truck they were able to save because the cab was completely shot, they obviously used a donor truck. Maybe the frame is original.
Wow, folks!
I'm 70 & I remember just how great America was back then.......Aust.
Amazing restoration, Truely an American treasure. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was a kid in the 80’s watching abcs wide world of sports and they showed one of his jumps after that i was building ramps for my bike and jumping anything and everything.you learn alot from falling still have permanent scars on my elbows but the memories are still there of some of the best times of my life escaping an abusive home, this video was amazing
I live in the Topeka Kansas area. I know Mike P. When he told me about this opportunity, we both were excited. I was able to attend the grand opening and meet Robbie and the other crew members there. I am sad to see it go.
I love MACK trucks and Evel. This was a great project you guys restored the truck back to its original condition. Evel would be proud 🙏
One of the greatest showmen .
I do remember the recovery of the Mack in Florida a few years back....
Evel Knievel was a very important part of my childhood.
That "BOING" you hear upon Evel christening the truck (its a bumper of a Mack truck for Christ sake! ..someone should've got walked that day)..says alot about those times in general...Beautiful restoration
Thanks to all who helped with this awesome piece of art. God bless America!
Thank you for bringing a piece of history back to life. I wish you could bring it to the Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show in St Ignace Michigan in September
This is the best thing ive seen in a long time !
Absolutely epic!
Great restoration wow!!
Thanks for the memories reborn again💪👍
Gold dog Mack, means every component on this truck was pure Mack, thrills me to see trucks like this brought back to life, especially this one. Many miles, days, and nights I spent behind the wheel of true Mack. Also RIP Evel, you were truely a legend.
Awesome job and thanks so much for sharing GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!!!!! ✌🏻from Ga.
Now that is a total 100% restoration right there... Nice job and well done... HOOAH!!!
At 57 years old this brings back alot of memories.
Wide World of Sports on a weekend watching a crazy dude jump a heavy street bike with my Dad.
The Oly beer brewy was 26 miles away from us in waSHITon state.
The good old days.
That's so amazing. Great group of people who did all of that. Hats off to you all.
What a true legend as a kid i had ever toy he put out damn wish I still had all them now, awesome watching all his stunts that brought back some great memories
I've flown by the remnants of his old ramp over the Snake River Canyon many times, and all I can say is he had big balls.
He was truly a trend setter- there’s people that have jumped twice as far- ,or more since .-but to do the things he did -😮basically riding a anvil on wheels .and make it so exiting watching him . What a show man ,jumping knowing he probably would die doing it .but he still did it anyway . He was one of the greats .on parr with elvis
I always wondered what happen to it after Marc on Shipping Wars transported to its new owner. It looking awesome! 😁 Evel Knievel would be so proud of y'all.
Us kids in Canada admired Evel Knievel too, I had the truck play set.
a thank you that would never be conveyed. Evil is just a description of time or mindset. I grew up with his adventures and tried everyone. Little kids on bikes and sidewalk ramp.
When i ever first heard about him I thought Evel was spelt Evil! To me its just sounds better, mad respect for what this guy did in the stunt world
I met EK in Clearwater, Fla., My brother and I had taken my father back to Montana where he was born in 1910, we stopped at the Harley shops as we drove around the state and this night I was wearing a "Saints" Harley Davidson teeshirt. Standing at the bar somebody came up behind me and whacked me on the back, it was him, couldn't believe I was actually at the dealer where he got his start. He was on a cane, had a fortune in gold and diamonds on and two young beautiful girls with him. R.I.P.
What an amazing restoration!!
Evel was the nicest, kindest most respectful, righteous man that ever lived. The perfect example for our younger generations.
Awesome job guys
What a rider he would be on today’s motos,he wasn’t afraid to go for it.an inspiration for me.
Great production. Great work!
To all those involved in bringing this truck back to life you have done a remarkable job it is beautiful! Also, what is the name of the song?
“Ridin the Wind” by Michael Stanton
@@ronzeuli2687 what album is it from?
amazing story on how they restored Evel Truck. Glad you guys have it and Jeff Lowe does not but the story of the restoration is as great as Evel himself.
Evel's Mack was saved just in time. Hard to believe that it was allowed to deteriorate that badly.
Evil Knievel was not just a Legend in his own mind , but in mine and Mattel's as well !
I like the Truck and the song
What a great video,best restoration..country loving patriots!
Awesome project.
Fabulous,what a great job.
This was so cool back in the day, watching this on T.V., us kids wanted to be like Evel, we'd set up bicycle ramps and other crazy things, amazingly we weren't seriously injured or killed by the ridiculous things we did.
Grew up with Evel, i remember when igotthe stunt cycle for Christmas, i was on the top of the world.
I saw the trucks traveling down the highway when I was a kid. My dad was a cross country truck driver. The snake river canyon jump was happening than. I’ll always remember that and still tell the story. He was my idle growing up. We ruined a lot of bicycles back than and have the scars to prove it 😂😂
That footage of the Caesar's Palace landing was shot by none other than Linda Evans.
My Grandfather hated Knievel with a passion after being his jailer at Mira Loma. He ranked Knievels release as one of the happiest days of his life. I never did tell Grandpa my friends and I idolized Knievel, we were 7 at the time.
Grew up on Evel, crashed my bicycle many times jumping too. Looks great but it was sad to see that original paint go.
Lets not forget. This guy jump with some HEAVY motorcycle's with little suspension travel.
He had some brass ones for the day
I drove one like that in 1990❤😊
Nobody revolutionized the History of Motor cycle's the way Evil Knievel did To: The Knievel family I'm sorry for you're loss of you're beloved Evil Knievel and ,the loss of Robbie Knivel I send my prayer's 🙏 to the family God bless
One of my idol's growing up in the 70s and watching Evel jump on ABC'S WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS.
I really enjoyed the music the Truck & Watching Elizabeth Truck Center, In NJ & Staten Island NY in the are-Building. of The Evil Truck a few years Back …
Does anyone know the music score on this vid?
Privileged to be aboard a few times. Thanks!
I remember seeing that truck towed to Elizabeth new jersey for restoration somewhere near dowd Avenue near wakefern some years ago!!!
Is there a full length documentary of the restoration of the truck?
I had an evel Knievel pedal powered trike chopper when I was a kid. I wore that thing out.
Nice video.
Mack did have a Western factory in Hayward on Corsair Blvd. off of Winton Ave. near the golf course.
Nice. Old. Truck
would have been nice to see truck up close and more details
What is the name of the song and who performed it in this video. It's awesome!
What song is playing? It’s perfect!
2:47 hell yes.
When I was young about 14 first truck I have a drove was a b model Mack with a quad box
awesome job from everyone involved, but why change the color? i thought it was blue, red, and white the trailer and body
I grew up with Evel Knievel even had the evil Knievel toys when I was a kid out of curiosity I'd sure like to know who sings the first song and what the name of it is in this video
The song is called "Ridin' the Wind" by Michael Stanton.

@@mr.intensity2685 thank you
@leeshaver7825 You're welcome. Someone else commented that it was Waylon Jennings, and it does sound like him, but I Googled some of the lyrics and this is what I got.
My mother said she knew that Evel Knievel was a junkie because when he came to Portland in the early seventies he said bring my stuff up to my room
