Awesome stories from Danny. I had to go up to Topeka a couple of weeks ago just to see the museum one more time before it moved and it was great to see everything again.
jumping a stingray.... been there done that!
Loved the video! I went to the museum last weekend. It was amazing!!! The mack was there. . so beautiful! Thanks for the video and the memories! God bless Evel!!
Great interview and a great person to have their brain picked about dealing with Vegas.
Danny is awesome! Does the other guy teach kindergarten somewhere?
Joe Pennington owns the coolest metal business in Topeka/US and is one of the partners of The Evel Knievel Museum.
Joe P mustve smoked a blunt before this show, compared to the others.
Excellent interview
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVEL KNIEVEL ❤️🤍💙
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVEL KNIEVEL!! ❤️🤍💙
HAPPY 86TH BIRTHDAY TODAY EVEL KNIEVEL!! October 17th❤🤍💙
Evel's birthday is tomorrow..He wouldve been 86. Wow! He is still my hero! I remember I couldnt wait to get to school to argue with my cousin, Darwin, about the Snake River Canyon Jump! I was a 5th grader, I think. And a tomboy at the time. And still somewhat of one today. Me and my bf both ride motorcycles, Im from Alabama, while he was born in Dillon, MT in 1954. We live in Bama, but we go to Dubois, Wyoming every year for 3 months in the summer. I had NO IDEA tgat you guys had a 50th Anniversary deal at the canyoon! We couldve went!! My sisterinlaw in Missoula couldve ridden her bike down to meet us! Cuda shuda wuda...but we didnt know! I love the fact that Lathan got Evel's Mack and restored it. My bf's great aunt in Lima, MT., were friends with Evel and Linda in Butte. I was told that she had an oil painting of Evel in her living room, that he had given her hubby. I kept trying to get Cal to go visit her but he never would. The lady was 90 and a widow, and her children had all died. So now, I learned that she died 2 yrs ago. I wonder what happened to the painting?! Her name was Shirley Harkness and she had once worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Butte. If I can find out from my bf's stepmom what happened to her things, the painting would make a great item for the museum.
excellent interview !
Great job, everyone! I'm glad I got to meet up with Motor Mania-John and Company in KC and loved seeing and shooting the stuff I had only seen on TV and the internet. Thanks Guys!
I personally would ĹOVE to see a total restoration of the Wheelie car, but thats just me. Evel talked about it while he was alive but obviously wasn't able to get it done.
I saw a picture of me with the dragster.
That was the hook, Mr. Cook. 😊

Did you move to Vegas ?
great jump spec. on a harley ;-)
I Was there with Evel, Robbie, Spanky Spangler, Super Dave Osborn and BOOM BOOM Mancini. Sorry, that's a Test Bike ....
So where's the jump bike then?? This guy seems pretty damn confident he's got the correct one
Krysten, that's so cool. I'm glad you found his bike. I actually talked to your Grandad once. He was jumping at the fair in Monroe WA. Around '70. I didn't see him jump, but it was a thrill to talk to him. I have scars on my knees emulating him jumping off a sawhorse with a 2x12 ramp.
It's the jump bike.
Grew up on Evel, crashed my bicycle many times jumping too. Looks great but it was sad to see that original paint go.
I can't wait to force my family to go to the museum next summer!
It moving to Las Vegas in November
I'm now 65 years old, looking back in my young days when I was just a kid Evel Knievel was and still is my hero every stupid thing I ever did on a mini bike or a dirt bike is directly related to Evel Knievel! You haven't lived unless at 11 years of age you tried jumping the drainage ditch that ran through our Farms on a 3 horsepower mini bike😅😅 yep my shoulder still aches every time it's going to rain!! Memories😅
That's really cool! The 60s music was a nice touch. I've always thought that jump while not overly far, was really dangerous looking with that catch ramp edge looming as a deadly obstacle that had to be cleared. The fact the the YT algarithim didn't pick this video up a boost it is a shame
I met Evel as a kid around 82 and got an autograph. I almost peed myself.
Really cool seeing new footage for the first time!
This has to be one of the most expensive vehicle restorations in history. Who paid for it?
Topeka Harley
Great video!
Nice video.
Draft Dodger
Knievel served in the Army in the 1950's. He jumped 50 times as a paratrooper and also joined the military's track and field program as a pole-vaulter.
Nobody revolutionized the History of Motor cycle's the way Evil Knievel did To: The Knievel family I'm sorry for you're loss of you're beloved Evil Knievel and ,the loss of Robbie Knivel I send my prayer's 🙏 to the family God bless
That's so amazing. Great group of people who did all of that. Hats off to you all.
Great interview, Mike and Lathan. Thanks for the stories and the updates. ✌️
Awesome interview
thank you Lathan and Mike, Evel was the greatest of all time. I hope to travel to see the museum someday. thank you!
Amazing place, HISTORIC HARLEY DAVIDSON in Topeka, KS.!!! In fact, the wife and I are here in Topeka from OKC, OK on vacation. I have to visit of course, every time we come up !! I think the museum is AWESOME because I grew up watching EVEL on t.v. and then his son Robbie(RIP) I asked them at the store if they might do something special b4 they shut down and move to Vegas, probably not but I think it would be cool if they did . Im really gonna miss it being here cuz itsonly 5hrs away from home, not 16. Thank you for the wonderful memories, PRICELESS!!
I'm wearing my EVEL shirt right now!!!
Any idea when the opening will be? A movie script is done about Gene and in the process of being sold. Several of the scenes in the movie will be about life with Evel.
Dose anyone know what the name of this song, and who performed it?
Michael Stanton
@@janetphillips2875 Thanks
I got to know Gary pretty well. I met him when I was working with my father building a custom car for Evel Knievel, and Gary was working with Evel at the time. Gary taught me how ride dirt bikes, and let me ride one of his brand new bikes with him. It was amazing what he could do on those. He also had motorized skate boards that we used to play "tag" on and, again, he was just amazing on those. I must've fell off mine 100+ times trying to tag him, or avoid getting tagged by him. Gary did stunts in lots of movies and TV shows. His talents are truly an amazing thing to witness.
Impossible to watch and not feel pride to be an American, I’m not white just old school.
ABC "WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS" and I was never same after that. 🇺🇲
Thank you all to everyone who has helped putting this beautiful icon together. It is a wonderful pice of history. Thank you all again.👍
Who sings this song ?
IM gonna be 55 in June, the GOOD OLD DAYS RIP Evil
It's always funny to hear stories that are concocted some how from somewhere decades after they claim the story happened. Jay Sarno had nothing to do with the whole coma story because at the time the jump happened it wasn't a thing, it wasn't part of any newspaper clipping, magazine article, TV or radio interview Evel did talking about the jump, it wasn't part of the George Hamilton Evel Knievel movie, it wasn't mentioned in any of the books written in that era. It wasn't until the documentary Last of the Gladiators Evel Knievel came out around 1987 that the whole coma thing was said and then gained traction in 89 while promoting Robbie's Caesars Palace jump to help hype the PPV. Don't get me wrong I'm somebody that loves Evel Knievel as much as anyone who ever walked the earth and was a good friend of his the last 10 years of his life. But the facts are the facts and I realize you're trying to sell a book about Jay Sarno but don't give him credit for something he had nothing to do with when it comes to Evel's Legend and the whole coma gimmick. But I will agree with the author when it came to speaking with Evel on the phone or in person something I did many times including a few days before he passed away. He had an incredible presence and a Aurora of greatness like no one I've ever known in my life. It was one of my greatest honors to know him, call him my friend, tell him I loved him the last time I spoke with him and him telling me the same. I have memories to last a lifetime because of that friendship.
Evil didn’t have anything on guys like Art Arfons or Tyrone Malone the bandag bandit. They had full truck shows going down the E-way.
Was he supposed to?
what song is that?
I grew up in the 70s and saw the front footage many times, but never the other angles! As many times as I saw it, I didn’t notice that his leather jumpsuit busted open until i heard him mention it in an interview shortly before his death. Thanks for posting this!!
What the name of song?
Evel was a true AMERICAN DAREDEVIL - I was 10 at the time and had the Evel lunchbox. Still have it today. Great Memories and an AWESOME JOB restoring his truck. 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁Thank you for sharing.
I wanted an Evil Knievel lunchbox, but I had The Osmonds🙄😁. My sister had The Adams Family and my friend had Disney's Bedknobs and Broomsticks!
