Another fun fact about the Posse: during spring drills, they did a series of 40 yard dashes to establish the fastest guy in the team, and it was Mark Fields. All 240 lbs of him. He was an athletic freak.
Yes, the Coug's PALOUSE POSSE defense was simply awesome in 1994! The Cougar offense behind QB Chad Davis was a bit inconsistent, especially on the road. If the '94 WSU team had add an offense like the '92 Bledsoe offense, or the '97 Leaf / Fab Five offense, the Cougs would have won the Natty in '94.
The cougars couldn't win a national championship even if they had all of their best players in history in their prime next year. And every other team was normal. They are just not a top tier program capable of real accomplishments.
thanks for the upload...been looking for this game footage for a long time! How did UW even manage 6 points?? Most dominating defense I've ever seen....too bad our offense wasn't better in '94
Great game. The best part of it was running to the Coug with three buddies to down a pitcher each, and then returning to see the Palouse Posse stomp UW. Chad Davis was probably the worst starting quarterback for a decent WSU team. Ever.
Such great memories prefunc partying then drinking from the field house to keep warm and just yell your lungs out as a student to watch the U get manhandled by our Cougs. Let's hope Leach makes Defense a priority and not just offense.
We won't agree as you already have your mind made up, but it was a really good defense and probably the best in WSU history. Different era compared to today and it was that classic 4-3 defense with 8 in the box that might have problems against spread/air raid of today, but 11.3 ppg allowed over a 12 game season is really good in any era. 4 rushing TD's allowed all season, gave up just 2 yards per carry for the whole year. And you have to consider how bad they were offensively, constantly on the field where they only averaged just 16 ppg.
That defense had several guys that played in thr NFL - Fields was a first round pick, Hayes did several years as a DB, Eaton played for a long time as well. Great group. They got a lot of field time as the offense was just terrible. The most hilarious thing was Chad Davis declaring for the NFL draft a year early when he could barely throw the ball better than your mom.
Thank God for old RUclips videos - Let’s coug fans experience an Apple Cup win.
Lol
What great memories.....best D I ever saw
How we could never recruit a quality QB for that season is still a mystery. With a solid QB we go undefeated and to the National Championship game.

Greatest defense of the Pac-10 era.

Best D ever!!
It’s unfortunate that WSU always had great offenses but when they finally get a legendary defense the offense is terrible.
magik1969 youare right. best ever. im sure im bias. my brother was #98David Knuff.TE
All these guy's look like men compared to today's players. Guy's were manlier in the 90's than the kid's are today.
Go Cougs!

You guys are all delusional about their defense back then. It wasn't anywhere close to how you guys glorify it.
