WSU shocks the Beavs, ends a 16-game Pac-10 losing streak.
Cougs finally got a upset
Troy Aikman was a future two time Super Bowl winner for the Dallas Cowboys. I would say that’s a pretty good win for the cougars to beat him.
Another fun fact about the Posse: during spring drills, they did a series of 40 yard dashes to establish the fastest guy in the team, and it was Mark Fields. All 240 lbs of him. He was an athletic freak.

Jason David, Marcus Trufant, Eric Coleman, Lamont Thompson, Karl Paymah. 5 NFL DBs between the 2001 and 2002 WSU Defense. 7 DEF players overall and honestly D.D. Ancholonu should have been 8. Such a great time to be a Coug. Loved being there with and for those teams. GO Cougs!
Why did you cut it off at the end? Worst possible time. :/
Totally agree! It was terrible and completely unintentional. The DVD I got of these highlights cut it right at that moment of the last play. I'm sure there are better highlights out that have that finish but if it was available I would have kept it.
All these guy's look like men compared to today's players. Guy's were manlier in the 90's than the kid's are today.
Go cougs!!
I was at that game and we were the better team that day. I still say we should have had a couple more scores
Back when this game was an actual rivalry. After saying this I need to go vomit now.

Best D ever!!
That WSU team was very good and very underrated that season.
# 1 and UCLA Football...WELCOME TO FANTASY ISLAND I'M YOUR HOST -- MR ROURKE!!!
What a game!
I love how you have Bob Robertson and Jim Walden announcing
It is pretty cool! I wish I still had the disc, it was the entire game with the radio feed over the game, someone made it for me back in the day but I can't recall who it was. I lost the disc several years ago but at least we ripped the end of the game anyway. Good game, great win!
I'll never forget this game! When I heard this game would be on National TV, I was so embarrassed because WSU had lost most of their games and UCLA was #1 in the charts. UCLA must've been over-confident . .. . NO!, WSU won because they had a good team who beat UCLA 34-30!!! GO COUGS!!!
God Keith sounded so happy to see his alma mater pull off the upset
Will Derting was a beast on defense for WSU! Inspired me to wear # 51 for my senior year of high school football in Alabama.
You guys are all delusional about their defense back then. It wasn't anywhere close to how you guys glorify it.
We won't agree as you already have your mind made up, but it was a really good defense and probably the best in WSU history. Different era compared to today and it was that classic 4-3 defense with 8 in the box that might have problems against spread/air raid of today, but 11.3 ppg allowed over a 12 game season is really good in any era. 4 rushing TD's allowed all season, gave up just 2 yards per carry for the whole year. And you have to consider how bad they were offensively, constantly on the field where they only averaged just 16 ppg.
You're fuckin high!
That defense had several guys that played in thr NFL - Fields was a first round pick, Hayes did several years as a DB, Eaton played for a long time as well. Great group. They got a lot of field time as the offense was just terrible. The most hilarious thing was Chad Davis declaring for the NFL draft a year early when he could barely throw the ball better than your mom.
Thank God for Old RUclips videos otherwise we’d never see Cougs beat Huskies.
Thank God for old RUclips videos - Let’s coug fans experience an Apple Cup win.
Lol
This video is awesome!! Why don't you post one of your more recent apple cup wins?? Oh... wait..... lol
Would if I could....but I can't....so I won't. This was more about highlighting Brink's 3 AC wins in 4 years than anything else. Good luck against Ohio State.
@@sedihawk haha I love that you have a sense of humor!! I hope the cougars do well in coming years, I typically root for them unless they are playing us, anyways good luck with your channel!
Thanks HuskyFan01 (if that is your REAL name)...it's not actually a channel though, just a place to hold some videos that were ripped off DVD's several years ago. It was mainly done for our old blog, wsufootballblog.com which is now part of The Sports Daily site (thesportsdaily.com/wsu-football-blog/). When we do write, we write about pretty much all things Cougs but Pac-12 as well.
@@sedihawk I'll have to check that out! Good luck with your writing!
I was there
God bless Bob Rob
It’s unfortunate that WSU always had great offenses but when they finally get a legendary defense the offense is terrible.
I'm still pissed about his game. So many great players on the field for UCLA. It shouldn't have been close. I guess that's why they play the games.
Totally get that, UCLA was loaded. They had a big lead in this game too but WSU was sneaky good that year, 9-3 bowl winning team with Dennis Erickson in his second year in Pullman. Timm Rosenbach led the nation in total offense at QB and they had two 1,000-yard running backs as well. Erickson would bolt for Miami after the year.
fuskies are triggered
let's see a repeat of this tomorrow! go cougs from Woodinville
@7:25 "we can go out and play with those Texas's and Oklahomas" really cool moment for those kids. As a Texas fan, watching this game as a kid was frustrating, but you could also see how much it meant to that Cougar team and staff, and that will always be a cool college football moment
Hey Husky fans!!!! One note as you continue putting the Cougs down. No matter how bad we have been, we have never NEVER gone 0 for the entire season. How can a team with all the advantages and $$ of the University of Washington go 0 for the whole season. I don't care how many Rose Bows or bowl games your program has gone to. You put up a big 0 fer and the Cougs in their worst seasons have won at least one game. Bow down to Washington??? What a joke!!! Go Cougs!!!
how'd it feel getting rocked again this year bud
And this year bud... when you thought you actually had a chance to win the Pac and this season was "special" lmao this was the best cougar season of all time and this was a down year for the huskies and we still beat you 28-15 and kneeled inside your 5 yard line to end the game😂😂
And while you make fun of us for 2008 and laying a goose egg we have also gone undefeated before.... how many times have the cougars done that?
@@Brandon-zg1ze we should've won the game anyways I like you to trash about the COUGS huskies are such big bandwagon fans they can't stand losing games
( Coug desperately searching for statistics to build up his self esteem )
@cougrrr Price wasn't coach in this. And Doba was DC. Doba was head coach and Robb Akey was DC for this game!!!
We Coug'd this one hard. But MAN could Will Derting hit!!!
Greatest defense of the Pac-10 era.
This is really a fun video. Nice idea to mix the radio with the video. What a game!
Great game. The best part of it was running to the Coug with three buddies to down a pitcher each, and then returning to see the Palouse Posse stomp UW. Chad Davis was probably the worst starting quarterback for a decent WSU team. Ever.
Don sasa
I love the design of these Washington State uniforms :)
Memory lane. I'll never forget how WSU let this one get away. No disrespect to ND, but WSU was the better team THAT year. I believe Drew Dunning, who was an All-American kicker, missed 3 FGs/PATs in that game, which obviously is uncharacteristic of an All-American kicker. Any one of those would have prevented the game going to overtime. He almost did the same to us against Texas in the Holiday Bowl. To be fair, Notre Dame played with a lot of heart, and came back and snatched victory from our hands. Julius Jones was the RB that year, I think, and he was darn good. I don't think anyone on WSU was used to a crowd that big, either. This game haunts me, because it's not every day WSU has a program like ND on their heels. It will be a long time before we have another chance like this, even if with Leach at the helm.
Time for Halliday to light up the Puppies like Alex Brink!
How'd that go?
fuck dennis erickson
UCLA DIDNT TRY HARD
That was horrific coverage by the secondary. Oh well. Go Cougs!
Most underrated Cougar Quarterback of all time.
Sammie Moore went H.A.M. !!!!!!
Yes, the Coug's PALOUSE POSSE defense was simply awesome in 1994! The Cougar offense behind QB Chad Davis was a bit inconsistent, especially on the road. If the '94 WSU team had add an offense like the '92 Bledsoe offense, or the '97 Leaf / Fab Five offense, the Cougs would have won the Natty in '94.
The cougars couldn't win a national championship even if they had all of their best players in history in their prime next year. And every other team was normal. They are just not a top tier program capable of real accomplishments.
Go Beavers!
The Huskies losing to the Cougs isn't exactly rare. The Apple Cup isn't a game that you can usually call. But yes, you guys did blow your bowl game. All the talk about your bowl game was about how it would help you recover/ prove that the Apple Cup was a fluke. Both of those games just reflect the current mentality of the team and the "too good to lose" attitude and it's a shitty way to end a season.
The huskies losing to the cougs isn't rare? We have never lost to you more than two years in a row.. and we lead the series by nearly 40 wins... what are you talking about.
