    Old man moment:
I went to check out the prices on the cheap ramen recently so I could try out some of the recipes here on RUclips, and I couldn't believe my eyes.
Now here's the old man moment...
Staring dumbfounded at the price, I said aloud, "I can remember when these things were only eleven cents!"
(Does anyone remember hearing their grandfather saying something like that about candy or soda or whatever? Old man moment.)

The cheapest I remember candy bars like Snickers (I preferred Nestlé's Crunch) being is ten cents. But your dad is right - they were HUGE compared to today's candy bars (larger than today's so-called "giant size" candy bars).

      OLD MAN ALERT!
      < Bwaaaah! >
I remember finding a quarter when I was in 6th grade and trying to decide between buying a McDonald's hamburger or getting a DC giant size comic book.
This was back when McDonald's used to run a commercial about buying a meal deal of a hamburger, fries, and a soda for a dollar and getting change back.
Ask your dad if he remembers that.
(BTW I chose the comic book because I could keep it to enjoy for years, reading it again and again, but the hamburger would only last for a couple of minutes. I was a nerd and comic book geek even way back then. Lol!)

I lived in So Korea for a few years. Ramen there is a amazing meal. I also had Ramen in Japan. Ramen is an art form in both places. A protein is added. Usually egg. Veggies. spices. This idea of boiling the noodles and adding the sauce packet.. and done.. is a very Americanized version of ramen.

In the USA there are ramen restaurants that treat ramen as an art but for most Americans it's just a way to eat protein & veggies with carbs.
Shin Ramyun is the best balance of taste, price, and health with added egg & veggies. It's worth the extra cost.

But I'm going to use it next time, cause after tasting it, I can tell it would go really well with it. I did three ramens and I think 5 eggs. This served 3 people for $3.26 (1.09 per person ) Although the prices of food is going up, at least we can still be thankful there are still ways to eat cheap. 😊

I love recipes or throw together meals like this. I keep frozen shrimp on hand to toss into ramen with veggies I have on hand. I took a package of ramen to work the other night. I put it in a container with some frozen carrots and peas. I added the season packet and a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter to the bowl. When I was ready to eat it I added water to the bowl and cooked it in the microwave. It might not sound good but it was delicious. I will be making it again. I am planning on adding cooked chicken to the next one I make. There are so many different yet delicious foods you can add into ramen to make it a meal. Looking forward to more videos. Hi. I am watching your video. If I can add to a recipe (one we eat at home): boil your water. Add your flavorings (here we keep it simple & use maggi chicken powder). After the water is in a rolling boil (you can add frozen veggies, onions etc @ this point) you drop in your noodles. Move them around so they are somewhat separated. Then crack how many eggs you want into the pot. Don't mix the egg up. When the yoke looks about done, take it off the heat and let sit for a few mins to settle. Garnish as desired. This is a soup. It's pretty filling. We have also used other types of pasta, too.
I have to try the first recipe you presented. It looks really good.

I like ramen so I eat it on the regular. My favorite is what I call fake pho that sounds a lot like your stir fry beef. I use minced onion and 1/3 the flavor packet (I started doing this for less salt 40 years ago, now it's just a habit!) and enough water to almost the top of the noodles. I cover and microwave for 90 seconds. While that is going, I slice up a couple of regular lunch meat roast beef pieces. At the ding, I turn over the ramen with a fork, put the beef on and I add cashews. They're not in pho, I just like the hit of flavor. I then cover again and do another 90 seconds. I do this with ham lunch meat too. One can add veggies too. Anything that will steam in 3 minutes will be done by the end. Broccoli, edamame or asparagus would be my choices.

Even though some don't do well with spicy food, after adding to the entire bag of mixed vegetables it is not so spicy but has a very good flavor. Simple easy and looks beautiful with green and white and orange vegetables.

This is my favorite video of yours! Thank you so much. I am making the beef stirfry for the 3rd time :-) I added cabbage and carrots to bump up the veggie factor, and it is dynamite. FYI, Aldi ginger paste in the tube works very well for me ;-)

I buy the frozen chopped ginger in the Trader Joe's freezer section. Makes it super cheap and easy way to use ginger.

Looks good. Do you have any suggestions for oyster sauce replacements? I'm allergic to all seafood. Thanks!

There are Asian companies that make a vegan oyster sauce, I think mainly made out of mushrooms.

Put a twist of citrus 🍊 juice, protein, vegetables and you have a complete meal. E.g. coconut milk, lime juice, peanut butter and scallions makes a mock Tai version!

I noticed in the 3rd video, cutting board was moving around, to stop that from moving while cutting put wet towel underneath and board will stay still( I use a separate Clean White Wash Cloth for keeping my boards still)

One thing I do is venison, peas and bbq sauce mixed in the ramen and it tastes great too me. I'm sure stew meat would work the same too.

We didn’t have ramen when I was in college the first time. Later when I was in the Air Force I was stationed in Japan. There I was dating the widow of an Airman who had died in a plane crash a couple of years earlier. She was a fantastic cook, and the one who introduced me to ramen. When I came back to the States she sent a package of ramen with me, and the customs inspector in California asked me what it was! Ramen was one of the things that seemed to follow me home, and soon it was everywhere.

To make this even cheaper try adding TVP that is rehydrate. TVP is super cheap.
You can also take your ground meat and nix with pureed onion and broil it flipping once and serve with rice. It's called Chelo Kabob. It's an Iranian kabob.

Ramen can be used as a substitute for soft pasta.
It can also be boiled with canned beans or baked with gratin sauce.
I also like to soak the cup noodles in a little hot water, mix them with 2 eggs, and bake them in a hot sandwich maker.
For my health, I never use Korean noodles.
