Old man moment:
I went to check out the prices on the cheap ramen recently so I could try out some of the recipes here on RUclips, and I couldn't believe my eyes.
Now here's the old man moment...
Staring dumbfounded at the price, I said aloud, "I can remember when these things were only eleven cents!"
(Does anyone remember hearing their grandfather saying something like that about candy or soda or whatever? Old man moment.)
Too funny 😂
Yes!!!
My dad said a snickers candy bar was 5 cents when he was a kid. And that it was HUGE lol 😆
@@christinastewart4893
The cheapest I remember candy bars like Snickers (I preferred Nestlé's Crunch) being is ten cents. But your dad is right - they were HUGE compared to today's candy bars (larger than today's so-called "giant size" candy bars).
< Bwaaaah! >
OLD MAN ALERT!
OLD MAN ALERT!
< Bwaaaah! >
I remember finding a quarter when I was in 6th grade and trying to decide between buying a McDonald's hamburger or getting a DC giant size comic book.
This was back when McDonald's used to run a commercial about buying a meal deal of a hamburger, fries, and a soda for a dollar and getting change back.
Ask your dad if he remembers that.
(BTW I chose the comic book because I could keep it to enjoy for years, reading it again and again, but the hamburger would only last for a couple of minutes. I was a nerd and comic book geek even way back then. Lol!)
My dad tells me he pumped gas at a full service station for 35 cents a gallon. Granted, that would have been 60 years ago.
I remember when they first came out , they were 10 cents a pack.
🍝
I will not touch this even if they! pay me!
@@vabanknine8417 Obviously you've never really been Hungary.😐
@@vabanknine8417 even if you were starving to death I don't think so!
@@blessedhappycatlady lol obviously she must call for take out food or has a chef. Or lots of money for high priced ingredients. I guess she doesn't have to live on a budget as for the rest of us we're thankful for any budget-friendly recipes that could feed a family
@@wendydubois3872 Exactly Wendy.
I lived in So Korea for a few years. Ramen there is a amazing meal. I also had Ramen in Japan. Ramen is an art form in both places. A protein is added. Usually egg. Veggies. spices. This idea of boiling the noodles and adding the sauce packet.. and done.. is a very Americanized version of ramen.
I believe it!
In the USA there are ramen restaurants that treat ramen as an art but for most Americans it's just a way to eat protein & veggies with carbs.
Shin Ramyun is the best balance of taste, price, and health with added egg & veggies. It's worth the extra cost.
I haven’t bought ramen noodles forever because of the MSG and such high sodium content, but now with these wonderful recipes, I’m going try them! They look so delicious and easy to make! Thanks for sharing 😋
@@MealsWithMaria😅
I use Ramen Noodles in my stir-fries. People make fun of using them but hey just as good as pasta and less expensive usually.
Absolutely!!
And they cook a lot faster when you don't have the time . LOL 😂
Looks great! I buy a pound of fresh ginger at a time and immediatly freeze it. Then I take it out and use my microplane to grate it while still frozen. so good and no waste.
I definitely need to do that! Keep saying I will then…
I do this as well.
Wish Ramen noodles were diabetic friendly.
peel the ginger first then its easy to grate from the freezer
@@charlestait5303 its all about moderation.
I remember when they came out I still use them.
I always have grr n onion growing on my kitchen window sill. I take the root left over from green onion and either put it in water or soil and they grow back. I also add hard boiled eggs and snow peas to ramen.
I finally started doing that!
@@MealsWithMaria They don’t really grow back as nice as they are when you buy them but hey free food.
They need time
I have them outside in large pot
They grow back over and over and are big and sturdy
This is fantastic and should be reshown from time to time, these are delicious and very frugal. Plus the fact that you can add in anything in the fridge including proteins meats and eggs. The ideas are Neverending.
Agree! I’ve got some new ones coming up too!
Have you tried stirring in a cup+ of broccoli in these dishes? Some bell pepper will also add some color to the dish as well as veggies. Thanks for the recipes.
You can and should absolutely do that! It sounds delicious and healthy!
I made the first one, and it was good! My kids liked it too. I would double the sauce portion of the recipe. I didn't use the everything bagel on top cause I didn't have any on hand. But I'm going to use it next time, cause after tasting it, I can tell it would go really well with it. I did three ramens and I think 5 eggs. This served 3 people for $3.26 (1.09 per person ) Although the prices of food is going up, at least we can still be thankful there are still ways to eat cheap. 😊
🤗 so glad it was a hit!
My husband makes this for us adding celery carrots chicken like soup. 😋 yummy
Yum!
For some reason, when you say something will be “absolutely delicious” I always believe you! You sound so sure if it, calm and factual!! 😊
Maria you are awesome at picking recipes! We would especially love the 2nd and 3rd recipes. Its great you offer different foods to your kids. Expand those palettes now. 😋 Thank you so much and have a blessed week! 💖

You’re welcome! Enjoy!
Lol I'm gonna keep using my garlic press and feel just fine about it! 😆 Great recipes, thanks.
You should! I’ve already gone back!
I buy it already chopped up. Fresh, chopped garlic comes in 3 different size jars. Having this in my fridge means I am ready for any recipe.
If you have it , use it. Not doing so would be wasteful. I am sick of these over “enthusiastic” people.
These look very good! Thanks 👍😊
Your fireplace is beautiful!

I put green onions and red pepper flakes and some Sesame oil. Yummy! If you put the roots of green onion in dirt they grow back fast.
Yum!
Does it matter where in your yard? Shade or sun?
Maria, I also use the ginger paste from Aldi in any of my Asian inspired recipes. Thanks for the video!
Oh that’s a good idea!
Love your fireplace
Thank you!!
Luv ur fireplace...it looks so old & antique - ish♥️
Aw thank you! It’s from 1760!
Do u cook in there ? So impressive!
I bought sooo much ramen when the lockdowns happened. It was so cheap on Amazon then. My husband and I were the only ones in our home at the time but we have two adult children and three grands so I had them in mind. Things changed over the next two years and our daughter came home to live with us. She loves asian food, as do I. So, I am grateful that the ramen I purchased is being used by both of us now and your recipes, especially the first one, look soooo yummy. Thanks for sharing those.
delicious ramen quick and easy thank you for the better version
You bet!

Interesting. Thanx! 👌
Try a stir fry (with more onion, bell peppers carrots, cab, spinach, green onion, etc.), and then add in the cooked/strained noodles. Add in your soy/brown sugar garlic sauce, and a little sesame oil (optional).
Sounds fabulous!
Noodles anyone wow delicious.
I like adding green onion, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, peanut butter, sliced carrot, lettuce or whatever I have.😋

New sub here. Thanks for sharing these fast and tasty recipes. And I agree about your sentiments regarding ramen and onions. My family and I love the extra onions!

"Swirl them up... just swirl em up"😅🤣😅how adorable are your babies?? Omg... so sweet!! Love these recipes! My son is a ramen freak... gonna try these out!! Thanks momma...I really love your videos!❤
Yay! Enjoy!!!
We didn’t have ramen when I was in college the first time. Later when I was in the Air Force I was stationed in Japan. There I was dating the widow of an Airman who had died in a plane crash a couple of years earlier. She was a fantastic cook, and the one who introduced me to ramen. When I came back to the States she sent a package of ramen with me, and the customs inspector in California asked me what it was! Ramen was one of the things that seemed to follow me home, and soon it was everywhere.
Oh that’s a really cool story! Ramen is always watching 👀🤣
Really like all of your recipes. I make my own recipe by using the ramen noodles and the seasoning packet plus I'll add either a chicken bouillon Cube or a beef bouillon Cube depending on if I'm using chicken packets or beef packets. Then when it's about ready I will add frozen shrimp and frozen veggies like carrots broccoli or any other veggies I have on hand. But I love it it's very filling and very fast and something hot that tastes so good it's like eating soup. You also have a new subscriber.
I love your new eye glasses Tess ! Very pretty ! I use brown paper grocery bags for wrapping gifts. I have the most boring looking gifts under the Christmas tree, lolol.
It all looks so good! Something I do to too ramen that is really good is add some black pepper and Kraft cheese slice and it is delicious
Oh interesting!!
I agree cheese is delicious in Ramen. Also, I like to make it with chili, and cheese. 🌿
Chili crisp and green onions. Love ramen.
Yummm
lol I've been using this style of recipe for decades. So versatile and adaptable to what you have in your cupboard. Glad to see I'm not alone. great ideas Maria. I really like the fact that you explained the egg thickening the broth and adding to the overall flavour (brit) Nice work :-)
Wow, 💡👍 great budget meals ideas !! Luv ramen 🤩🍜 will try it. I beak up the ramen, shorter, my preference
Just found you!! Love your ramen soups!! Cool!! Liked and subscribed!!🤗
I’m so happy you’re here!!! More ramen and fun to come! Enjoy!
I will try this
We use these noodles often
I sub’d. With COVID & staying home more & cooking three meals a day you run out of ideas so these look great! Imma try all three. I can see adding spinach leaves to the third one, yum! TFS 💕
All your Ramen noodle dishes are amazing too with a few chopped peanuts over top if u have em on hand
Just found you on the RUclipss. Love your content!

Wow! What a Great video! You got a new subscriber here 🧡🍜
that looks amazing with a bit of parm sprinkled on top or a lot yummy love instant ramen noodle, I do throw the packets away those are deadly and add stuff
I need to try the parm!
Looks delicious I like to add peanut butter, peanuts, or even Cashews to my Ramen noodles
Yum yum yum!
I love adding a raw or soft boiled egg to ramen - the egg yolk makes the broth so rich. Cubed tofu is anther cheap and very easy way to add protein. Thanks for sharing these recipes!
Fantastic ideas, Maria. Ones I would actually serve to guests!!..I guess
you know this but I use kitchen shears to cut my green onions. Easier
for me. Thrilled to see how the eggs turn out. Thank you!!
You know you can make for breakfast too. My kids said they stayed full till lunch time. It was very satisfying for them . Thanks for sharing 😁❤️👍
Interesting! I know I’m some cultures, a savory breakfast is very normal.
This is my favorite video of yours! Thank you so much. I am making the beef stirfry for the 3rd time :-) I added cabbage and carrots to bump up the veggie factor, and it is dynamite. FYI, Aldi ginger paste in the tube works very well for me ;-)
Yummmy! So glad you love it!!
I buy the frozen chopped ginger in the Trader Joe's freezer section. Makes it super cheap and easy way to use ginger.
Yummy! Endless possibilities w ramen.my dad use to make all kinds of meal w ramen w diff veggies and meat each time.he always used what we already had at the moment.always delish😋😇😎😘
Hi. I am watching your video. If I can add to a recipe (one we eat at home): boil your water. Add your flavorings (here we keep it simple & use maggi chicken powder). After the water is in a rolling boil (you can add frozen veggies, onions etc @ this point) you drop in your noodles. Move them around so they are somewhat separated. Then crack how many eggs you want into the pot. Don't mix the egg up. When the yoke looks about done, take it off the heat and let sit for a few mins to settle. Garnish as desired. This is a soup. It's pretty filling. We have also used other types of pasta, too.
I have to try the first recipe you presented. It looks really good.
She loves some Ramen too: ruclips.net/video/Nmw2R_Nxsuk/видео.html
I love recipes or throw together meals like this. I keep frozen shrimp on hand to toss into ramen with veggies I have on hand. I took a package of ramen to work the other night. I put it in a container with some frozen carrots and peas. I added the season packet and a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter to the bowl. When I was ready to eat it I added water to the bowl and cooked it in the microwave. It might not sound good but it was delicious. I will be making it again. I am planning on adding cooked chicken to the next one I make. There are so many different yet delicious foods you can add into ramen to make it a meal. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks for the great ideas.
I love that idea! Thank you for sharing!
Just made this for me and my daughter as a snack without the sriracha. We both loved it
I sort of liked ramen back in the distant past. Nice college student meal. I happened to look at the back of the package at what is in these noodles. I haven't had them in about 25 years since.
Wow
I add a fresh chopped potato carrots broccoli and garlic with the water and the seasoning packet then I pour that over the Ramen and let it sit for a few minutes. Dinner!
