This channel provides some really nice data about HDDs :$
Keep it up the great job my dude

Great farming efficiency video. This is what people should focus on for chia farming. Please make a plotting video using a sub $100 raid0 with used SAS drives, HBA card, and cables. It kills me that there is nothing on the chia wiki about plotting with a used fast SAS raid0, especially for budget plotting.

What's your opinion on 2.5" drives? I wonder why you never include them in your videos.. They consume around 1.3 Watts while farming, so a 5 TB disk has 0.26W/TB which can be pretty good.

development on 2.5in HDDs isn't really happening anymore, as nearline large cap HDDs are the only growth segment left for the HDD market. But by all means if you can snag a good deal on a 5TB the 2.5in JBODs are usually very cheap compared to 3.5in

Realmente es un gran proyecto pero aun esta madurando, quiza en el momento en el que se lanzo no fue bueno pero a seguir adelante

for those that are still farming chia, i commend you for your optimising, but i suggest you stop buying lottery tickets because no one can be that lucky

Anyone get the issue every so often when their computer stops recognising all the usb hdds? So annoying

I would like you to do the math on something. If you pay a LOT of high capacity drive and I pay much less for lower capacity drive, isn't this like the solar panel debate? Or the more efficient GPU vs. the cheaper one? I think of it this way. If you spend $1000 to get a super efficient GPU but I spent $200 on a reasonably efficient GPU, are you doing things better than me? Look ma, I'm really power efficient. And I'm sitting here having invested 80% less than you. I also always like to say sure your GPU is less power hungry than mine, but it's only a question of the DIFFERENCE between the two. Same with hard drives or chia farming equipment. I might pay more for hydro but who cares? You take a huge risk on big investment into hardware. I might make a bit less but that's far wiser in my books. If Chia price blows up, I'm not caring too much about an increased power bill. Sure, I could make more by spending a crap load more money for efficiency. Sorry, everyone needs to decide whether an investment is a sure thing and that they have a lot of spare money to throw into it. I'm not investing into Chia hardware that doesn't earn. A box that hold drives doesn't earn Chia. Chia should be about using old hardware and making use of that. If that means lower capacity drives, so be it. The messaging shouldn't be about getting the highest capacity drives out there. Oddly enough these are the farmers who have tapped out and left the space.

PLEASE UPWOTE THIS COMMENT. You can do 3-4GB drives plus K36 plots and put aggressive timings to turn them off. In such scenario - drives should do nothing for a long time and don't use energy at all. IT should not be nft plot - just regular one. Also chia team can decrease amount of checks per minute and this will make all network spend less energy - we have no idea why they don't do it. but theoretically if community push they can make 1 check distributing 6 xcv per minute and this will drive all network use 3x times less energy.

it always cracks me up seeing people use chia. They know its >90% pre-mined right? Maybe its a fun hobby for them- I I don't know. I just hope they don't care about money or the vision of the project because otherwise they are wasting their life. But yeah, I guess its fun to run calculations, make graphs, and buy drives all day. Fill them up with shit and let the sectors go bad. Could be a cool way to learn irrelevant info about storage mediums i guess.

It's a good blockchain technology that extends the useful life of used enterprise storage where data redundancy doesn't matter. Don't be surprised when another coin comes along using the technology without a 21 year prefarm.
