- This video shows the making of a Mexican restaurant style crispy taco salad bowl. For a full description and the directions to making a Restaurant Style Chicken Taco Salad, visit my blog at lifeattheholman.... In the beginning of the video you can see the tools needed to make the bowl. This video shows the bowl being made with a homemade tortilla. The "dark spots" you see on the bowl are not "burns" from the frying. It is the coloration of making the tortilla that show up really dark in this video.
Thanks for the tutorial, it is a great one. The problem with the health nuts is they do not seem to understand that sometimes you just want to eat a GOOD MEAL.The baked one might as well be a plastic bowl it is not worth eating. Just because you are a health nut, does not mean that there is not mean that you should make negative comments when a recipe focuses on TASTE. It took me a LONG TIME to find this recipie because all that is out there is healthy tasteless ones. Thanks for posting!
I’ve been looking at these tutorials all night long, and the one that “Cooking Con Claudia” posted for her taco salad recipe is the winner for me.
I want a full texture and taste of a deep fried taco shell bowl, but I don’t have the money to waste on using so much oil!
She has an genious method where she puts the tortilla in a pan of shallow amount of oil, frying it for 50 seconds on each side, and then she takes it out and shapes them into a oven safe bowl and puts them into the oven on a cookie sheet for something like 17 minutes at 350°, and they came out looking golden and beautiful.
Just thought I would share this tip, because I thought it was an awesome solution! Anyone that wants a legitimate taco salad wants a taco shell that has a bunch of oil in it, but not all of us can afford to use so much oil for making this part of the recipe. :)
Best how-to fried tortilla bowl shell video I've come across thus far.

thanks! Quick and easy, and not bogged down with 8 minutes of talking through the process, like some other RUclipsrs have when trying to show the same thing. Nice!
I have used the "baking" method. While it does create a nicely shaped bowl that is indeed healthier, it does not taste the same. The fried bowl will give you the more restaurant style flavor. The "baked" bowl seemed to me to have a chewier texture. As far as having more bowl shape, I have only had problems getting a good bowl shape when I tried to use too small of tortillas for my bowl. The tortilla needs to be able to fit around the bowl.

Me gustó el video..Gracias
Sweet!
Best video
mmm I want to make these. thanks for the video.
Which is why flour tortillas are better for taco salad shells, they'll get the bubbles and have just thr right mix of soft and crisp. :)
Such a good idea, thanks
Has anyone made them with the flour tortilla without being cooked...I'm wondering if I can make it that way
I use the flour tortillas. The ones int he video are homemade, but I have also used the store bought 8 or 10 inch tortillas.
Is that flour tortilla or corn?
Flour tortilla
Perfect
Good idea!
Great not many people doing it right
wow cool that was easy!
Your shell wasn't gold color. Need to be the oil more hot.
You done good! that's what i was wanting to know, how to make a crunchy taco bowl! Those baked ones lack real taste, guess you need lots of oil for flavor!

Could I use vegetable shortening instead of oil?
I have not tried it, but I am sure you could. Any deep frying type oil could be used.
loves2cook74 shortening work especially the butter flavor Crisco it was not as greasy and made it more crisper.
Thank you ;)
👍
It doesn't have that golden yellow color though.
It actually does fry up golden colored. It is not really yellow because it is not a corn tortilla. It is a floured tortilla. Maybe it was the lighting I used???
Shut up bro
for one little tortilla
that's why u use it for more things genius... god no wonder you people get ripped off so much
+Missy Nissy oh yeah, i wasn't kidding. i really think i will do this for one little tortilla you nincompoop.

It’s not good for you to reuse frying oil. You should do some research on that, my friend.
wrong it is not the same at all texture is all wrong maybe it has to be fried raw or made from white worn meal someone please tell me how to get it right like actual taco bell mexican pizza shells
moe mann is the same process just use raw Fluor tortilla without put the boul on.
The Taco Bell salad, I believe, is a corn tortilla. This is a white flour tortilla. Totally different texture.
@@loves2cook74
Taco Bell used a white flour tortilla when they made them.
It's good for you
Fill the bowl with water so you don't have to hold it down. Trust me it works great.
Pardon me sir, could you spare some skin for my skin graft please. I tried your method and it worked beautifully until it didn't.
Less talking and more cooking please.
thats a lot of oil dude...
That how Taco Bell do it

Yes but we don’t all have the money to use so much oil, and it’s bad for you to reuse frying oil. See the last post that I just left, as it is a great compromise!
maybe they aren't going for healthy.
Looks 👀 like an oily mess.....
