#FPV #communityproject This series is brought to you by: www.getfpv.com Sovol SV01 PRO 3D Printer: bit.ly/3RGhO1o So now..... what should we name it? Comment below
You guys are super funny per usual 😆 Super stoked to get my hands on this frame. Looks like a fun build for sure! You should call it the Ummagawd Fold&Flow 🔥
You guys are amazing!! This will absolutely change the hobby in such a positive way. Thank you for all your hard work on this I hope you guys will be getting a patent for this as well you guys have earned it! 👏👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@madhatterstunts instead of carrying my quads on the outside of my bag we could put them inside making our packs way less bulky and not getting stuck hanging up on everything.
@@FPVian yeah that's what I figured but it would be nice to see ummagawd Co get a patent on it because of all the hard work and time they put into the design.
Hey, Tommy hope all is going well, yes i personally think this frame eould be a hit, as it would be unique, hopefully you can find the time energy and tunds to bring the to light. Hang in there!
I know there was a long conversation of putting the Bathroom sign up on the wall for the intro. Love the final frame. The tucking wires is a great solution. The one and only, Folding Freestyle frame. F3 Ummagawd quad.
Awesome work guys! Thx for sharing the thought process. Anything with “fold” might sound too cliche. Thinking more towards “origami”. How bout The Ummagami 😂
Hey Tommy and Ryan, I hope you are doing well! We miss your fantastic videos and your crazy innovations in the hobby! Hope the folding frame will see the light one day…or the copycats will never know how to make one properly 😂
Production value on this video is off the CHARTS! Tommy coming in and out of frame interjecting each point made me laugh SO HARD 😂 Also, that into, 12/10 top tier comedy
I found it too distracting to the point I was starting to get annoyed and almost closed the video. But because I like Umma and I know my continuous watching will help his analytics, I watch through every cringy interjection. I look at it like this: If it's not adding helpful info to the video, than it's just an interruption for sake of interrupting or just trying to be funny. It was funny the first time, then after that it loses its charm.
I emailed ummagawd from their website and this is the response I got incase anyone is curious where this project is at. Wish the ummagawd team the best and hope to see more come from them in the future. "Hey David To make the long story short, I came across a series of events that has just caused me to be extremely busy, so busy that I've felt burnt out. The guy I hired to run operations moved onto bigger/better things, my intern graduated from college, and the industry in general swayed more towards the cheaper brands like gepRC, iflight, etc... The only thing paying the bills was flying cinelifters on production. And so between that and trying to wrap my head around Ummagawd again just made it difficult for me to keep creating content let alone drive projects. I was (and still kinda am) just trying to keep operations going and focusing on letting others market product instead of me. That said, I'm in a much better position now than before and have somewhat of a breath of fresh air again about the hobby. So yes, the folding drone should probably be resurrected... i just don't know when. But I do have a new project that I'm personally stoked for and hoping to see that through before I do anything else. So thank you for your kind words, it's folks like you why I keep doing the hobby side of things (even though it doesn't pay the bills for me or Ryan). We haven't given up, just took some time to think about where we want to go. Cheers Tommy"
Switch back! That's what came to me... I'm very impressed. When you told us you're making a folding drone. I thought it was silly... But you two have made me a believer. Assets to the world of FPV. That shit is next level!
This is amazing!!!! Thank you for you're hard work and ingenuity to help progress this hobby!! Much love and will definitely be getting one of these!!! ❤️❤️💯💯🔥🔥
@@AB-officialGPM hey thanks for the comment. That should give the both of them enough ingeneering insentive;-) to prove you wrong. Here lies a project witch many think is impossible to pull off. A foldable 7inch drone with stiff enough Arms for great freestyle.;-) can you create the impossible? Thanks for all your work guys.
@@AB-officialGPM No one told this the guys that build the Alta X and gues what, it can fly.... Yes your right it is not like a 5" but i dont whant to call it impossible.
@@zefixx6659 Alta X team found different solutions to mitigate vibrations, without mentioning the gimbal mounted camera. A 7 inch fpv drone should be rock solid even without digital stabilisation on the gopro... If you ever tryed blackbox logging you should know how low frequencies noise are such an asshole to deal with.
Awesome design, can't wait to see the final product. Also, the Sovol SV01 Pro looks like a great upgrade from my Anycubic Mega S so thanks for introducing me to that brand and printer. As far as names go, how about "Cartella" - Italian for folder, easy to remember, sounds fancy.
Butterfly frame with emphasis on the butter, or just the Balisong Frame. People do all kinds of flips and combos with butterfly knives and it folds in a similar manner. The hype man bit was hilarious. Can't wait to build one
Looks great you guy’s! If I decide to get it it’ll be the third Ummagawd frame I would purchase. The Remix 2 and Acrobrat still phenomenal frames and now hopefully this one.
OK. Names! The... UmmaFlip, UmmaHobo, UmmaTang, UmmaSwitchy, Umma5witchy, aaaaand GawdMode! That's all I got excited to see what you pick. Haven't been excited about a drone frame in a long time this looks really awesome!
thats awesome! However those wires will fail where they pinch. maybe wont matter, as it could be 100s or 1000s of folds. Maybe experiment with wire going through the pivot, it would be a redesign, but the wires would be bulletproof.
I would be more inclined to design a wire that bent through the entire length of the wire. Designing a “notch” that focuses the stress isn’t in any way beneficial but would absolutely be only detrimental to the integrity of the wire.
So what happened? A lot of us are still waiting yet it seems this fell off the map. Hope all is well as there seems to have been a decrease in the pace of development.
Thanks for sharing the process and the details. Great design. I think the build and this video were done with plenty of highly caffeinated drinks. I think you should call the new drone: Espresso ☕
Do you have to remove props before and after folding? If so there isn't any real benefit to a folding kwad. Slinging a 5" drone into the torval pro back pack on efficiency Id guess it would be quicker than installing and taking off props on a folding kwad? What is the AUW of a fully laden folding kwad? Immense design and props to you all, but its really a niche market IMHO
Tested frame resonances...I want to see how tuning goes if Rosser and Spatz get a hold of it. But pretty cool though. You could fit a bunch in a suit case.
If you bend the motor wires enough in the same spot to many times, won't they break the strands inside rendering the motor having less current flow to the point of failure? Also, will you do a crash test video when the production frame is available?
Yes, there's really not much you can do about it though. There are only two ways of reducing the fatigue you either have to increase the radius of the bend or you have to have a cable that's longer than needed and can freely slide. That being said you're probably going to break a motor before you reach the fatigue limit of the motor wire. You could increase the radius of the bend by just adding a slightly larger gap between the heat shrink.
Great work on the design fellas! Funny video too. I think you already named this one Tommy? Has to be the "UmmaGrow" for sure. Community Grown, Grown to impress.
Tommy: Keeping it Hyped up! Killer project, love how the frame came out!
Please do a 7" version as well!
The "UmmaGami" Quad.. you know, like "origami" the art of FOLDING paper into decorative shapes and such..
I had the same name idea! “UmmaGami”
Ummagami for the win!!!!!!!
I like this ⬆️
Thats good
+1
💥❤🔥💥 Love it!! Love to see the final design and all the process!!! Well done!! After the 2Fiddy maybe "2Foldy" its a good name 😂

Just curious how this will change the hobby?

Thinking 6". Like compromise but lil more umph than 5" lil smaller than 7.. make sure it can run 21700 li-ion
7 inch suffer of vibrations problems. It's impossible to build one

12/10 on this frame design. Absolutely awesome.
That wire solution is dope!

Folding props. They're not all that bad even.
Folding or quick release props? It looks like you may get away with leaving the props on, but they will obviously make it bulkier.

3.5 makes no sense. Its small already
if this does well... a 7" is the first thing I want to do
Wowzers! I’m very impressed how it came out Tommy . Great job guys. Want one for sure. Can’t wait homie👊🏻👊🏻👌👌👌🦾
any updates? or did I miss something? or you just have a ton of work to do the last months? can'T wait for this drone:)
it's been 6months now, where can I buy?!?
You should call it Grimlock on account of it being a transformer and the "locking" mechanism for the arms.
I think you should have a TV show
Awesome design guys! Call it the Vehicon!
The switch blade 😎
I think you should call it the jackknife. I forgo my marketing royalties. lol.
Looks awesome guys, names.. how about something knife, butterfly knife related. Balisong?
The Knifemare frame! Good job guys, epic engineered.
Are you guys considering including some dampening oil for the arm joints that move? Keep that friction down.
Absolutely amazing!
That's clearly the Ummagawd Transformer! :D
"Expand-a-Drone" "Droneosaurus" "Fold or Fly"
All gray with lines across the arms in a darker hue. A hint of white around the camera. Some black accents. Then name it "Bender"! (Futurama)
Here for the analytics ;)
