- With its high handle bars and adjustable seats - usually set pretty low - lowrider bikes seem like a relic of the past in a world of fixies and foldable bicycles. But the subculture has been given a second life by a group of bikers in Hong Kong called lowbikerhk. Its leader, Timothree, tells us how he fell in love with the lifestyle.

Lowriders are international if you don't own one you can't really understand. It's amazing just cruising in summer. Lot's of people stop to talk and ask lot's of questions. Lowriding has helped me with mental health issues and makes me happier.
For real. That and the community that comes with it.
Keep on low riding and if its calling you than you have to answer I used to have low rider bikes in the 70s it was and is a way of life.
are they easy to ride? Live in California, was thinking of getting me, on offerup they are around 350ish and up. Any tips or suggestions would help.

I built my own lowrider bike in college and I LOVED it, it was a 26" Huffy frame....but oh well it still looked GOOD!! AND it made me Happy as well. I was Really Proud of it. Low Rider magazine was started in the 70's, along with the low rider culture, too bad this guy has his facts wrong on more than just that.
Your 100 percent right those bikes were bought not build their is a difference when you take a beat up schwinn and make something out of it to make it your own how ever I give them props for preserving the culture..

The japanese have been mimicking LA Chicano culture for years now. Hong Kongers love to copy other people's styles. It's been happening for decades. Years ago when I was a kid, HKers would copy whatever was in style in Japan. Such as Jpop, anime, JDM car scene, clothing, and etc...
I wouldn't be surprised if he came across "japanese Chicano culture" and decided to copy them... If it wasn't him, I'm sure another kid from HK would have done the same.
