Good stuff, my kids are similar in age and always enjoy your videos! I live in Eastern Oregon and every year tell myself I’m going to travel down and try the wind. You mention getting stuck in the shallow water, and I’ve read where it’s pretty bad this year depth wise and other boats are having trouble as well. You should consider mounting a camera on the bow of your boat and videoing your exit into the Columbia so people who have never fished it have a general idea of the path needed to exit safely. Keep up the videos!
That’s actually a great idea brother yeah I usually am traversing the shallows in the dark which definitely makes it harder but it’s a challenge in the day as well! Hey the wind is definitely a great fishery. A lot of fish move into and past that area! Thanks a ton for watching brother. Tight lines
@@walkingonwaterfishing You are welcome. After raising 12 (9 adopted) and enjoying our North Idaho fishing with them it is time to untangle lines for grandkids. Keep up the great content.
@@craigambroson2482 Thanks so much! thats insane I thought 5 was alot but 12 HOLY SMOKES! Thats so cool. i bet fishing days were wild with the tangles.
@@walkingonwaterfishing one time maybe 8 years ago we came out from the bridge and trolled that narrow channel with herring and we killed em. There was a bite every 15 minutes. Most days tho we fish all day and hope to get a couple bites.
How do you gage what depth your at? For example I have a rod with a 12 oz weight and 10 oz weight. How do I know know how deep I truly am with current/ drag? I do have a weight counter reel…
So I always run 12 oz when I run 2-3 rods only because I have 12oz dialed when you let the line out to the depth of the bottom say it’s 20 ft deep I would run 12 oz down to 20 ft on the counter cuz with a 45 degree line angle the 12 oz ounces is at 19 ft a lot of times I run my 12 oz 1 ft shy of the depth. 12 oz at a 1.5-1.7 speed will usually be right at the depth you drop it at. Maybe a ft or two different. But when fish like springers are on the bottom even if you are within 3 ft of the bottom you are dialed.
@@OutdoorLiving2016 That is correct, thats why with 12 oz at 20 ft out and 20Ft of depth u will be in the perfect zone. 1-3 ft off you will know when u are on bottom if its 20 ft deep and i have 22 ft out im on bottom so I always run the depth of the bottom on the counter with 12oz.
Way to get those boys on fish!!! Dude, we're gonna need a bigger boat. I was worried you were going to take water over the side during the net show. Great job! O.G. Lami FTW
The salmon are now staked up at the Klickitat and up in the river. All of the salmon spots in the lower Klickitat are loaded up with salmon now. The first river run now is chuck fill of salmon I see when I passed over it the salmon scattering looked like from a fish hatchery pond. I set anchor at the top of the run then started to feed line out with a wrapped K-16 and as feeding it out a boil on the surface and it was fish on with the 28-pounder taking the plug just under the river surface. The next fish was at the time I fed back out the K-16 and clicked over the reel then the plug started to work and fish on! When leaving I troll spinners down river before the Highway bridge then caught 2 more! I feel that so many salmon are stacked there if I kept fishing it would have been more hook ups but catch and release is a danger to salmon with way too many die.
Just be respectful of us bankers. Again I'm a woman fishing the bank for years. I have caught fish in the toilet bowl, The Wind, and I grew up on the Klickitat River fly fishing. I'm not saying you dont no what your doing, but olease respect are craft on the bank. Thank you

But do you truly want to be a foot off the bottom with those 360 flashers? Don’t they have a 2-3 foot swing? Won’t it be slapping the sand?
