My first time going to Headbolt Lane, the newest station on the Merseyrail network. Construction started in March 2022 with Northern services to/from Wigan cut back to Rainford from 7th April 2023 with replacement buses in operation between Rainford and Kirkby to allow the line to be double-tracked and a road bridge replaced. Headbolt Lane then opened on 5th October 2023, replacing Kirkby as the terminus for Merseyrail services to/from Fazakerley and Northern services to/from Rainford.
