Aside from his amazing looks, that mouth and that voice, how on earth was he so sophisticated and well spoken at 22? Compared to some 22 year old stars today it's ridiculous.

For sure! That's what James Cameron said too and was so grateful for, which was DiCaprio and Winslet genuinely liking each other and that they were so supportive of each other over the course of 7 months that it took to complete filming. Sharing that this had a great impact on the eventual on-screen chemistry. Which we know has ended up so important to the success of the movie.
