Curious Deer vs Surprised Cat

- I just found this in my backyard security cam footage. This curious deer is sneaking up on the neighbor's cat, who is totally unaware, as I was taking some pear cores out to feed the deer.

I've noticed that animals often yawn as to send the message that they are in a relaxed, non aggressive and friendly mood.
I know it seems counter-intuitive, but yawning can be a sign of stress in the context of interaction. At least in canine body language.
I was wondering about that It seemed to be kind of a playful mood.
@@DeusExMathias Could be a combination of both, kind of like that 'full body shake' tons of animals do. Acts as a stress relief to calm itself at the same time as telling others "ok, let's chill".
Funnily enough I think people do this too. I've noticed I tend to yawn a lot before giving presentations or sitting an exam!
In monkey language, yawning is a challenge so .....
I've trained dogs professionaly for 20yrs. A yawn is an indication of non aggressive intent.
Deer: Its predator but small?
Cat: Its prey but big!
Nah, the young deer was just curious. I thought it was very cute when I saw it on my critter cam.
Once I owned some cats like him or her.
I wish I also had great yard like this

It's very rare to sneak up on a cat like that. The kitty could have hearing issues.

@@gama45 it made me feel tired watching the cat just stand there like that, like maybe it could have depleted the cat's energy.
@@snowangelgirl1 I think the cat was just kinda scared of the deer and wondering what it was going to do, but not scared enough to run away.
As a fan of cats, deer, woods and friendly white folk, I find this very satisfying and cathartic.

Actually, the cat was deaf. That's why he jumped again when I reached down to pet him. He was my neighbor's cat, but sadly, he's no longer with us. Thank you for your thoughts and thumbs up!

The cat was surprised by the curious deer sneeking up on him. It's my neighbor's cat, and he was deaf. That's why he sort of jumped when he saw the deer. Then he jumped again when I reached down to pet him. The cat's name was Charlie, and he has sinced died. The curious young deer was used to me bringing out fruit for them, but not brave enough to approach until I left. The deer is wild, not a pet.

@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Thank you John. Sorry about your cats also. Yes, they are family. We had one cat for over 21 years when he got a large tumor in his mouth and couldn't eat. I had the vet give him a shot and he slowly went to sleep and passed on my lap. So sad. 😥
@@gama45 That is how I had both of my cats put to sleep. They are buried behind my house under our shed. One had an intestinal tumor and the other heart disease. One was around 21 or so and the other one about 15. They just really rip your heart out. Thanks. 😞
