BBQ Sauce - 11:45
Recipe
-------------------------------
Step 1: Make The Rib Patty
Ingredients
* 1 lb Ground pork
* 1 ½ tsp Salt
* ⅓ c Sugar
* 1 tbsp Liquid Smoke
* 1/4 tsp Chipotle powder
* 1 tsp Onion powder
* 1 tsp Garlic powder
* ½ tsp Cumin
* ½ tsp MSG
* ¼ c Flour
1) Combine all the ingredients together.
2) Roll out onto a cutting board and cut into a rectangle.Use a paring knife to cut out a rib shape.
3) Bake in the oven until sweaty.
Equipment
* Stand mixer
* Sheet pan + silicone mat
* Paring knife
Step 2: Make the Buns
* AP flour
* Salt
* Sugar
* Yeast
* Crisco
* Water
1) Mix together ingredients then knead into a thin dough. Let rise for an hour.
2) Roll out into perfect circles and cook in a pan.
3) Deep fry until golden brown.
Equipment
* Large mixing bowl
* Rolling pin
* Small plate
* Knife
* Deep fryer at 375
* Tongs
Step 3: Make the Ghost Chile BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
* 1 tbsp Corn Syrup
* 1 can Chipotles in adobo
* 1 tbsp Tomato paste
* 1/3 c White vinegar
* 1/2 tsp Paprika
* ½ tsp jarlic
* 1/2 tsp Smoked ghost chili
* 1 tsp Onion powder
* 1 tsp Garlic powder
* Black pepper
* Pinch of Salt
* ¼ cup brown sugar
* Spicy rib patty
* Pickled Fresno chilies/red jalapenos
* Thinly sliced white onion
1) Finely chop chipotles in adobo. Add to the sauce pot with all the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil.
2) Dip the rib patty into the BBQ sauce. Add to the fried bun with pickled chilies and onion.
Equipment
* Medium saucepot
* Tongs
* 2 spoons
* Whisk

Imo; I feel Rhett may have been privy if Josh was doing another homemade McRib that he would've been there behind the scenes just to eat it. who knows but would've been nice to witness.

Every time Josh takes his shirt off you know that the only unhealthy food he gets to enjoy is stuff he cooks for the show.
It makes me think Josh's motivation to workout is that he can eat more mythical food and just work it off
I don't think you know how diets work
You can eat unhealthy food every now and then and remain fit. When it comes to body its all about the calories really. The rest is for keeping your "insides" healthy and not dying of a heart attack at 27, but yeah, you can stil look good.
No its all good, Josh is in a cult that sacrifices things randomly to some vindictive deity all for the ability to eat junk food and still stay in shape... I think its called Crossfit.
Youd be surprised from hearing on their podcast some of his favorite lazy meals. Incredibly unhealthy, but Josh I can assume doesnt eat itevery day, knows how to portion control, and lives an incredibly active lifestyle. I think he just really knows what hes doing even though he puts off that he doesnt lol
The kitchen is so used to Josh’s shenanigans he can put an entire thing of raw dough in his mouth and everyone lets him do it

@@bcaye Literally however much you want it to be. You could drunkenly eat 14 slices of toast and call that a whole thing of toast, there is no metric, it does not matter, and yes I speak from experience

i would have loved to be in the meeting when josh pitched the commercial idea.
I think the meeting was while they were filming. It's just every joke he said on the show put together, I feel like they filmed it after they filmed the cooking and just did it in their parking lot lol.

Over 90% of all trichinosis cases in the US come from bear meat. We’ve actually gotten really good with the pork, which is why you can eat a pork chop medium rare despite USDA recommendations.
You just have to deep freeze it long enough.

Cooking challenge for Josh. Making MREs actually taste good, using things soldiers in the field or training could get their hands on (seasoning packets, sauce packets, etc). Easy mode- beef stew, chili Mac. Hard mode -creamy fettuccine.
MRE's already taste amazing though, at least most of them.
That rib looks kind of like a Toblerone or Kinder Bueno bar. I’d love to just carry that around by itself, and break off little pieces of pork meat.

The mcrib is just the Banquet meal ribs on a sandwich. My mom used to buy this like family pack of them and make sandwiches with them, almost no difference.

That kids playing with the raw meat comment instantly took me to Bobs Burgers! Lmaoo that will be Josh and his little family.
Listening to Josh is always hilarious... "What is in a McRib? If you look at the it on Taco Bell it's a meat patty..." I had to go back and listen to it again to make sure he did indeed say that the McRib description came from Taco Bell... Listening to Josh have "I can haz werdz" moments while cooking strange and amazing things is what keeps me looking forward to every new episode.
I heard that immediately and started scrolling through the comments, you are the first person I've seen mention it.
"If you look at it on Taco Bell, you won't find anything because you're looking in the wrong place. But if you look at it on _McDonald's,_ then..."
Taco bell did cantina tacos in my area around 2010-11. They were soft corn shells, pork, cilantro and onion.
At the time of upload, it's actually the third day of Hannukkah. So Josh, the stand mixer isn't an *early* Hannukkah gift, it's just a Hannukkah gift. Congrats!
So on the 3rd day of Hannukkah, they all get to eat pork?

The spicy ranch that Taco Bell has now was the replacement for the Baja sauce it is very similar because the Baja sauce used to be on the cheesy gordita crunch but was replaced by the spicy ranch that they have now
The Baja Sauce on the gorditas was the best!

I live in Germany and every year before christmas Mc Donalds sells the „Big Rösti“ Burger.. Topped with a austrian Potato Patty, Beef Patty, Hollondaise esque cheese sauce and bacon.. You guys should try to somehow recreate that and try it bc it honestly is the best thing they ever sold. the rest of the world is missing out

Baja Sauce was renamed Spicy Ranch. Its whats on the Cheesy Gordita Crunch :) from a TB Manager
Actually spicy ranch replaced Baja sauce. The original Baja was a pepper jack sauce, the spicy ranch is just that... spicy ranch.
I really hope Josh guest stars on the try guys again, his energy meshes so well with theirs.

As a German I always find it strange, that the McRib is seasonal in the US... land of the free my ass. At least we can eat it all day everyday the whole year.
It's just tied to the current price of pork lmao.

It’s seasonal in the US to maintain the excitement. I think that if it was a year round menu item, the demand wouldn’t meet the cost of supplies.
Germany's just more interested in sucking down porkers. When the McRib is on the menu for a long time in the US it doesn't sell well.

I know the cheeseburger thing Josh keeps referencing! Back in 2007, David Hasselhoff got filmed totally drunk and eating a fallen apart cheeseburger off of the floor. He screamed something like "Leave me alone.... I AM. EATING. A. CHEESEBURGER!!!" Then a couple years later a restaurant put out a commercial that used the footage but the line was dubbed over. The commercial got pulled but you can still find it on RUclips.

I work for McDonald's..I've been putting my mcribs in tortillas for years..we just use the same tortillas that we use for the breakfast burritos..delicious..Josh you are the man keep em coming 👏

Aye the Baja Sauce probably came from Long John Silver’s Baja fish taco considering it’s the parent company for both restaurants. (Also do a “Big Catch Box” from LJS which was labeled Worst Fast Food in America when it was a thing!)

Here’s an idea for the Mythical Kitchen’s consideration: why not make a shirtless Josh calendar? Make it a 16 month calendar. It could be Josh in the kitchen getting up to his usual shenanigans or a tongue-in-cheek calendar like Markiplier’s tastefully nude calendar, Maybe even sell it with proceeds going to charity like they do for Project 4 Awesome. I would buy that. I imagine there’s at least a few other people who might also like like to buy it.

Fun fact, the "I'm eating a TcRib" bit was based on an old 2007 David Hasselhoff video where someone filmed him drunk and eating a Hardee's burger off the floor. "Leave me ALONE.... I. Am. EATING. a ChEEse(burp) BURGER!!!" I'm amazed that Josh both remembers what happened and doesn't remember the guy. Hardee's turned the video INTO a commercial but they used the real footage with the VO saying the "I'm eating a cheeseburger" line. It got pulled. You can find it on RUclips.
As someone who works at a Taco Bell, Baja sauce is just Spicy Ranch. At the location I work at if someone asks for a chalupa Baja we remove the sour cream and put spicy ranch instead.

I am DYING to see Josh make and eat (and force the crew to try) a traditional Mississippi "Slugburger" or Doughburger - and this video and recipe just made the hankering even WORSE with the doughy-pork recipe.
Slug- and doughburgers are a Northeast Mississippi tradition, borne out of tough times when meat was expensive and hard to come by. People would mix the meat with flour or cornmeal to make the expensive meat stretch. The ones I've always eaten in Tupelo and Booneville are made with flour and spices, molded into a thin patty then fried on a griddle until crispy and golden. Add mustard, pickle, onion and maaaybe some cheese - BAM - you've got a doughburger.
The name "slugburger" is a reference to the price - back in the day, they cost a nickel or a "slug." It's honestly unfortunate, because a lot of people get really grossed out thinking about a slimy burger made out of slugs, but it couldn't be further from the reality! Doughburgers are crispy, fried, goodness and if you like a McRib, you'd probably love a doughburger!
They really are delicious and I would just lose my mythical mind if Josh were to make some and show the world just how amazing (and SLUG FREE!) they really are.
Fun Fact: Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis Presley and one of the oldest restaurants in the city, Johnny's Drive-In, was his favorite place to grab a slugburger!

on the topic of baja sauce: anyone who was a fan of the original potato soft taco at taco bell misses the baja sauce, as after it was discontinued, they substituted it for the chipotle sauce to make the spicy potato soft taco.
Again, as a Past Food episode, how about the Bacon Cheeseburger Burrito from Taco Bell. I know it was a regular item on the menu in the 90's when I used to work there, though I'm not sure when it got discontinued.

It's meant as like, "Taco Bell is like a slice of Mexico - go there". Plus their sauce is called "Border Sauce".

Chalupa supreme have sour cream and tomato, Baja chalupa have Baja sauce and pico. The Baja sauce was a Monterey Jack sauce, and it was one of my faves, it wasn't spicy, completely separate from the creamy jalapeno sauce. I worked there when they changed the menu over.
