The Performance Pro mode in the Insomniac titles is just such an all-around win during general gameplay, it’s hard to not play it in that mode. It was fun to play around with the RT settings in Fidelity Pro, but you’re not going to notice any of those details swinging around the city or fighting baddies. Another great, to-the-point video, Ben. Thanks for showing your TV’s frame counter. It helps a bunch to know when you are or aren’t in the VRR range. A real shame Sony hasn’t allowed the VRR range to be 20-120 like the Xbox Series X. Big fail there.
This game , Ratchet and Clank, Miles Morales, and the PS5 Spiderman remaster are the only times I will use the fidelity pro mode because with the unlocked framerate option and a VRR display you are able to play the game with the highest settings for RT and at or around 60fps (within VRR window). If you want ultra smoothness though performance pro is the way to go. Both modes look phenomenonal but considering that I see very little benefit to 120fps in singleplayer games...I tend to go with the best visuals at 60fps!
You are definitely not hitting 60fps at all in the fidelity pro mode. Its always in the lower 50s if not lower in some areas and the performance mode at a locked 60 is significantly smoother. More power to you if you enjoy it that way but im just making sure no misinformation is out there confusing people
@TheGamez07 Maybe you missed the part where I explicitly say with a VRR capable display you are able to get at or around 60fps (within the VRR window) , which for PS5 and PS5 pro is from 48fps up to 120fps. There is no misinformation in my comment. With VRR enabled you get no judder and no screen hitching or character slowdown from the framerate. The gameplay remains smooth as long as you are within 48fps up to 120fps range and these games don't typically drop below 48fps although it is possible for it to drop out of VRR range temporarily. When the framerate does drop below 48fps because you are in the 120hz mode in the game, the game is properly frame paced all the way to 40fps. I have not had any problems with any of these game dropping below 40fps and it is absolutely possible for all these games but Spiderman 2 to reach 60fps using the fidelity pro mode with the framerate unlocked. With VRR enabled you don't experience fluidity issues related to framerate in the same way you might without it. For example playing a game in the mid to low 50's all the way to 48fps feels no different than playing at locked 60fps and any possible disadvantages to playing at low framerate are indiscernable on an OLED since they naturally have a fast response time. There are a few games (even unpatched games) where the unlocked framerate option gets you well into the VRR window and makes the game perfectly playable despite not being locked 60fps. For example, Dragons Dogma 2 or Ghostwire Tokyo....with Ghostwire Tokyo being mostly 60fps at all times.
Yeah, on my base PS5 without PSSR, I think uncapped VRR 120 Hrz mode I was getting up into the '80s and '90s regularly. Is it possible to turn PSSR off on the pro so we can see the actual quantifiable difference between the two in the same modes?
Bit of a correction here. The new performance mode does not drop frames more than the old one on base. Not sure why that was mentioned. Not a hater, just thought I'd mention it. Appreciate the content.
Hey! thanks for the support buddy! PUBG I don't think willl be a difference because it's already 4k60 I believe! so yeah. but not too sure. I can check for sure
Hey Ben is your channel a game news channel, or game reviews kind of channel? I enjoy these games you test for the pro, but is this going to be your main here? Is it going to just be a ps5 pro game reviewing?
Not just game reviewing. But it does do well on my channel and I am enjoying it I must admit! That’s my focus right now. I will also test other systems also! Sorry if that’s not what you are here for. But sometimes things evolve and I feel like I’ve found my niche.
@@MajorBen Oh no this is great. I can see if any games are running better on the pro. If and "IF" you have time. Could you see if any of the tomb raider games are doing better? Maybe tomb raider last game, I'm curious if they frames bumped up a bit.. Other then that, keep doing what you're doing. 👍
So ive done tests on this game and one thing not many people are talking about is that on the base PS5 the fidelity mode still looks significantly better than this new pro mode much sharper and more detail. Even the fidelity mode 40fps mode looked slightly sharper than the new pro mode. I also really don't like how on the pro they removed the original modes when the whole point of a pro console is to let the enthusiast gamer choose how they want to run the game. Also keep in mind that the new pro mode is not running with fidelity mode settings meaning you're getting worse effects, scene density and such. Overall im kinda disappointed with how insomniac handled their pro patches. If anything these games just kinda put into perspective the fact that we are definitely NOT getting fidelity mode at 60fps uncompromised when that was the whole point of the pro all you're getting is a better looking performance mode. For the most part kinda disappointed with the pro with rare exceptions like FF7rebirth
I have all 3 games ur take is the most delusional and pure hater take I've ever seen. U need to get your eyes checked and stop hating because the pro version of these games looks way better and way more detailed than the base ps5
Another example of PSSR lack of proper polish. If you look at any flat lines at the distance, all of them struggling with lack of anti-aliasing, so you can spot lots of flickering lines. After PSSR failure launch, I’m way too much sensitive and focused on this, as it’s not what I was expecting from £700 console, and definitely not what they promised. Don’t get me wrong, SpiderMan 2 looks awesome most of the time, just knowing that there is issues in some scenarios, I can’t get into the game as I would like to. I should wait with this purchase for a year or two, as clearly PSSR won’t be fixed any time soon, which means that upcoming games will more likely introduce similar issues.
I dont understand your complaint about its not what they promised of course it isnt because why would they no company will announce i have new image enhancing tech with possible errors. Thats ridiculous 😂
The Pro console is great and many games that have been patched show no issues at all. The issue I find is that some devs have clearly not polished their games during the upgrade process but that is not an issue with the PS5 Pro but rather specific games. Your complaint should be that a £70 game has not been upgraded correctly to work perfectly with the Pro.

Ben another great job.
If the original Spiderman game lets you use the original graphics modes I'd be interested in seeing what frame rates PS5 pro gets.
It does

Does duty charges applicable on ps5 pro if we import from usa to india
So do you recommend uncapped or smoothed vrr? And why?
Ben how long you been using that c1 oled?
@@thelightahead4810 been using it a few years now! Love it!!

Hey, majorben! Love these testing videos. I’d like you to test PUBG and Rainbow Six Siege. Very interested in platting those games

Fidelity pro mode is slightly sharper than the performance pro and to your point better raytracing
anyone know what the background tune is he plays
What is with the grid lines in the sky?
I'm going to buy a pro from Costco to test out. 90 day return window. It's hard to tell by just seeing videos.

No it dose not I have the game played it on pro and it’s definitely looks more crisp and cleaner lol
The fact this guy is literally saying it looks better and you are saying the base ps5 looks better 😂😂😂😂😂😂
