Here it is from the 2/9/1980 studio show. The most important interview in Memphis for the entire decade of the 1980's. Jimmy Hart cuts the promo on Jerry Lawler with the famous "what do you do when a race horse breaks his leg" line. Jimmy rarely spoke while teamed with Lawler but this is his coming out party. With this one interview he becomes the most important heel in the company for the next five years. Oh and he introduces the Iranian Assassin who takes on David Oswald.

It’s like a star was born on this very day. Before this.. Jimmy was like all of Lawler’s other managers, he never talked. Hart should get waaaaay more credit for keeping Memphis interesting while Lawler was out with the broken leg. Then when Lawler came back, the Hart-Lawler feud was epic!

No tf he didn't 🤣 It was well after the King recovered, his leg break took about 11 months to heal. Lawler hit Hart ,& still swears it was an accident, anyways. It definitely didn't happen backstage, Lawler wasn't even there.
@@sese6227 He swears it was an accident but suspiciously did something similar to Paul Heyman when he reneged on taking a scaffold bump. Lawler was a helluva wrestling personality and knew the business well....but it's funny he's only a tough guy when it's managers he knew he could bully.

Doc, it looks like Jack Kruger, who was a TV jobber in the WWF in the '80s. He also got a big push when he did this Iranian gimmick in the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks guys. I don't remember him but he seems to have had some limited success. I love these Memphis clips. I couldn't see this stuff in New England as a young man.

So was Lawler's broken leg a work or a shoot AND was this interview a work or a shoot? Didn't Lawler know Hart would say what he said?
Jerry "The King" Lawler really did break his leg while playing a football game at a barbecue party. Which royally ticked off the Memphis Wrestling President due to Jerry being the Heavyweight Champion at the time.
