Apple WWDC 2009 Keynote - Bertrand Serlet talks about Windows 7 and Snow Leopard

- Bertrand Serlet makes fun of Windows 7, just like he did with Vista at WWDC 2006.
Furthermore he explains some of the new features and technologies in Snow Leopard.
Although Windows 7 is an improvement compared to the disaster called Vista, Microsoft itself admitted that Windows 7 is based on Vista, and therefore Bertrand Serlet is making some good points for Windows users to consider.
Ironic, because Windows 7 actually did surprisingly well, compared to Vista.
+Chris Cunningham Windows 7 is the best os of all time
Steven Stone YASSSS I LOVED Vista! I realized something. All Vista software is terrible because of the same reason. I have MS Flight Sim X, and it is laggy, because why? It was made for Vista. It's like XP and 7 had a baby and they named it Vista. Vista was amazing.
Actually, i think, Windows 7 didn’t do as well starting into its life cycle then, when it “matured”, everyone realised that Windows 7 is better!
Windows 7 and snow leopard were great but they had a point with older tech but again the older tech = more compatibility really different Focuses
Dezqn HD windows XP, with 7 in close second
Now macOS is exactly like he was describing Windows 7 with the UAC stuff. Craig Federighi replaced him after Snow Leopard. I think that explains a lot.
I would say macOS's version of UAC is worse than Windows 7 or 10's UAC
@@vista9434it's f*cking annoying
Bertrand is the guy that came up with how iOS feels. He wanted it to be like a piece of paper under your finger.
This OS was launched 15 years ago today. I'm commenting on August 28th, 2024.
I was 22 when it launched and remember picking it up with two friends at the Apple Store. All three of us total nerds decided to pick up our DVD copy, then walked straight across the street to a Total Wine liquor store, all three of us bought 99 Apples booze, went to my place, got drunk while it installed.
They say your younger years are, "simpler times". Usually it's only because you had less to worry about, but nights like that were a prime example of just jumping off the roller coast of life and being stupid and it was fun.
Sounds cool. I wish I had nerd friends. But the nerds I know don’t like computers 😞
He's missing out on the things Microsoft DID do right with Windows 7. There are tons of small improvements over there as well and it is undoubtedly better than Vista, and in some aspects, in times. This is the thing I don't like about Apple. I don't see anyone complaining with Windows 7 for legitimate reasons.
bro just downloaded the video and trimmed out a part of the video, and then slapped the biggest and most obvious watermark on the video 🤦🤦🤦🤦
well 7 is still supported today while snow loeopard is in the dust soooo..
Thats because it wasn't worth updating from.
EliteGamer 12 hahahaha yes
Maybe because instead of giving users just one year to move over to the new operating system, Apple makes their upgrades free indefinitely?
Windows 7 released in 2009, Windows 8 in 2012.
Windows 10 in 2016 (Beta version in 2015) and windows 10 had a free upgrade from windows 8 for over 6 months.
Unlike Macbooks, most windows systems are PCs which easily last 7-10 years based on your initial equipment. Laptops obviously depend on a lot of factors such as usage, manufacturer (for windows), etc
So while you invest in Windows software, it's a huge cost saving over Macs.
Now I am guessing your next comment might be related to viruses. So, Yes, Windows has had a lot of viruses written for it, but that was because of it's 99% market share. Today even with Mac's still relatively small market share, many of the viruses are now targeted against it.
"Unlike Macbooks, most windows systems are PCs which easily last 7-10 years based on your initial equipment. Laptops obviously depend on a lot of factors such as usage, manufacturer (for windows), etc" That is incorrect, macOS High Sierra (The latest version as I am writing this) is supported on any Apple computer after 2010 and even some from 2009 that is 7-8 years.
I miss Bertrand, he was one of the real stars they got from NeXT...
Snow leopard is no longer supported, is no longer getting updates, and they didn't roll out true 64 bit support for the original Mac Pro 1 to utilize the hardware's true potential (yes I know you can install the latest osx on the original, but it's not supported even if you have 8 cores, a new gpu, and 8gb of ram). Windows 7 on the other hand still gets security updates, gets the latest game releases, and can use the latest versions of Microsoft Office. Both systems released in 2009, only one of them is still relevant in 2016. The planned obsolescence is astounding.
...and OS X Snow Leopard, for me at least, was the last version of OS X worth using. Apple's notorious for lapses in security for older systems - for example, I have an older MacBook that's stuck on 10.7.5 - still works well, I don't use it every day, but it's stuck there. Ironically, it's Windows 7 install is far better supported and compatible with all modern browsers.
Because every year and not every four years a new OS comes out and everyone updates, because why not? It is free and was always free.
Kiyan Kayser It only started being free with Mavericks.
Um... not true.
Penguinator You could either buy the Install CD or Just Download it from got old Apple Store
The amount of Windows fanboys that are triggered in the comments shows how genius this was.
I'm a Mac fanboy. BUT can I just say, Windows 7 was absolutely awesome. I didn't like 8, 10 is better than 8, but 7 was bloody brilliant. So is OSX (which we're still running now, just with 'big cat' updates). Both great stuff, Win 7 was epic. Cheers.
I disagree. 8 was better than 10. 10 was so slow and full of bloat and spyware..plus the security system in it was annoying as hell when trying to install software. People only say that because of the start menu which wasn’t even that bad and could easily be fixed by installing the old school start menu that’s actually even better than windows 8 and 10s start menu combined because it’s the same start menu as 7.
While Mac OS and UNIX platform as a whole is superior to Windows's NT architecture, Bertrand was an asshole towards Microsoft and unlike Vista, Windows 7 was actually a great upgrade. Don't worry though, he left Apple a while ago. He was always super harsh though.
nobody nowadays would ever conceive a system like Windows with DLLs, registry, antivirus etc...
Wow, they really missed the mark on this one. Windows 7 was the best OS Microsoft made. If it was just a different version of Vista, it just goes to show how capable Vista could have been from the start had Microsoft spent more time refining and improving Vista before releasing it.
My mind is fucked... Snow Leopard and 7 came out the same year, yet 7 still seems fresh while SL feels obsolete already.
That's because Microsoft continues to support it. Apple no longer supports Snow Leopard. They did for a long time, but you can't move forward if you keep supporting an old OS. I mean… my iMac came with Leopard. I got Snow Leopard for $30, Lion for $30, Mountain Lion for $20, and Mavericks for free. Yosemite will likely be free as well.
They don't support old OSs, but the Macs tend to support quite a few releases before they become unsupported… then those unsupported Macs can still last another year or so. So… everyone's given the opportunity to upgrade and keep their Macs supported and alive for some time. Sticking with Snow Leopard and complaining how it's "obsolete" because your Mac "feels old with it" is on you for not upgrading. (Mavericks is free…)
***** Yea, updating the OS constantly like that, I'd hate that... by the time you get comfortable and find all the quarks, etc. here comes a new OS to upgrade to...
***** I see your point Chris, but OS X updates aren't as radical as Windows, save the new Yosemite. For example, Mavericks was mostly under the hood improvements and Mountain Lion simply added new apps and the NC; the last radical OS X update was Leopard.
And ***** updating OS X every year was probably cheaper and more reliable than updating Vista to 7 and then 8
***** Most of the updates to Windows are very minor, since they're not whole OS upgrades, that usually will get released altogether in a service pack, so one doesn't have to re-download every single update that came before the service pack.
With Mac OS, you have Mac OS 10.0 (Cheetah), 10.1 (Puma), 10.2 (Jaguar), etc. the latest stable release being 10.9.5, being a minor update to Mavericks, since Mavericks is 10.9. With 10.10 being Yosemite.
For example, my copy of Windows 7 comes with SP1, so it's 6.1.7601, whereas Windows 7 pre-SP1 was 6.1.7600, so I don't need to worry about any of the updates before SP1, since they're included with SP1.
Unfortunately, there will not be a SP2, which would probably make it then 6.1.7602, since Microsoft is already working on Windows 9, which if Microsoft's good/bad pattern holds up, will be much better than Windows 8, for one, they're adding back in the option to have the traditional start menu rather than the metro tile screen, which is great, if you don't have a touch screen, although, it's not that hard to navigate by mouse.
Windows 8 being 6.2.9200 and Windows 8.1 is 6.3.9600.
***** Yes, you are correct in that the OS X updates are *not* like service packs, as they are major releases every year. *However*, what they change is very minor. With OS X updates, the core doesn't change, but they massively change things under the hood, and they tweak things that they found most users really hated (based on feedback).
Granted, OS X updates weren't always "every year," they used to be every *other* year, but starting with Mountain Lion, they became annual.
I mean, given that these major releases are now free, I'd much rather do this than pay $200 for the new OS (I quote the more expensive price, because this gets you the complete version of the OS) that's still backwards in every way. Maybe this will change though, seeing that apparently Windows 9 doesn't change too much of Windows 8… but I'm pessimistic on whether or not it'll fix the core problems of Windows.
is this guy who explain the operating system still working at apple?
He left Apple in 2011
Windows 7 stills alive, Snow Leopard in the oblivion.
He bashed windows 7 and yet windows 7 was more refined faster and sold more then snow leopard and became the highest grossing item on amazon and sold out in japan in 36 hours and received critical acclaim by critics and users saying the speed and features and was said by a critic that windows 7 was a better os then snow leopard, then again it was 2 months before it launched so I guess that the moral of the story is not to judge a book by it cover unless the book says twilight. Windows 7 FTW!!
+Dada Windows ME was worse than on release XP.
+Fuk this Sh1t Where's your source? If used both environments and I can tell you it never got better than Snow Leopard when it comes to OSX. Of course it would sell more, you can't compare sales because the way both ecosystems work is so incredibly different. OSX is only available on a Mac, Windows is the standard on every desktop computer that's not a Mac. Not to mention you can run Windows on a Mac so often the OSX audience is also part of the Windows audience.
***** since apple switched to intel based cpus the new mac os x's can run on pc hardware through VMs and dual booting.
and i have used anything after leopard
Fuk this Sh1t I am not counting illegal methods that violate the ToS. You can't measure performance and stability if running on a hackintosh.
***** you can totally make a hackintosh without breaking the law by buying a disc for osx installing the damn thing and buying compatible parts
@Sven88bac From my experience, Vista is actually quite a strong foundation. It's just sluggish as hell. WIndows 7 is Vista with a HUGE performance increase, and I like it. Fast, pretty and customizable. Right now, my dream machine is a fully maxed-out 27" iMac running Win 7. THE best closed-source OS out there right now, though Mac OS X is not far behind, and still quite impressive.
THANK YOU for also realizing this!! Apple even took things from Vista, like Coverflow...Preview Pane in Vista, just a small example. Microsoft has a MUCH larger market share than Apple, so they can't drop things w/o being compatible and getting crap from the world. Vista tried to change things, like OS-X did, but failed because no one wanted to change.
nah what he means is that Vista has the same technologies like Win 7 (dll, registry etc.) So he means Windows 7 is a build on top of a bad OS. While OS X is a build on a good OS
Well Windows 7 is the most used operating system with 52% of computer users using it. So, Apple, don't try to make fun of Windows 7.
TheYellowPolarBear it was vista they mainly made fun of,actually snow leopard is to leopard what windows 7 is to vista
Bertrand was a legendary man.
Also, these ppl probably use both windows and Mac OS.
Still is!
Snow Leopard was my first Apple system back in 2010. It was OK, but seriously - Win 7 is still my favourite OS of all times and will always be.
SL looked pretty old when Mountain Lion came out and was 100% obsolete with Mavericks.
Win 7 still looks modern and is a pleasure to use. It is stable, does not spy on you and is supported very well.
Sierra and High Sierra are better than Win 10, but this is not a hard competition since win 98 is far better than win 10 ;-)
"Microsoft its a Bitch apple its a god."
-apple fan boy
Lmao what is this guy talking about? He's like "ah Windows I bad cause it uses dll's and the registry" yet they are both not visible to the user without special actions. And not to mention the registry is far more easy to use and advanced than those shitty .plist files in Mac OS X. Copied features? You said the same about Windows Vista, yet Microsoft were planning all the features "you invented" way before you, and if Longhorn were to be released, it would have crushed every version of Mac, even the modern ones. And not to mention, Windows 7 kills Snow Leopard. New technology? Well, I was surprised to how similar macOS Sierra is to Mac OS 9. Same installation technique for most of the apps, same Finder bar, even a lot of the same sounds. Have to say more? Wait, isn't that "everything everyone cares about"? We don't care about your "inovation", no experienced computer user would buy any of your overpriced and underpowered stuff just to experience Mac OS.
this is so wrong.
1st longhorn ended up in vista so it was released
2nd mac os 9 has nothing in common at all with mac os x. os 9 is based on classic macintosh while os x is based on nextstep which is a unix based system. i used os 9 and i can't imagine a single sound or icon which has stayed the same except of the finder icon and the apple.
He made fun of windows 7 back in the days, but I bet that close to nobody remembers and uses snow leopard instead there's still a lot of people out there still using and loving Windows 7 which, by the way, is still perfectly fine to use and compatible with new programs
true but it's like android, you can install it on crappy hardwares instead of ios that can be used only on apple devices
Snow leopard and windows 7 were good operating systems. Back when macOS and windows didn’t suck and were beautiful to look at.
Apple took nothing from Vista. Cover flow was in itunes a long time ago and was slowly implemented into the rest of the OS. This preview pane - are you talking about Quicklook? Completely different.
And a larger market share doesn't always indicate a better product. I'm not saying anything about that other than that. Take it for what its worth.
Not meant to insult, just to inform.
It starts up in 25 seconds, takes two to four seconds to start up an application. I have experienced both, and have come to the conclusion that I like the MacBook Pro. Fast, reliable, and not anytime in the two years I have owned it have I had to call/email Apple for anything, not even broken parts. Nothing broke. It's still running great to this day.
it's funny cuz 7 was more popular than macOS 10, how funny..;
Why does the watermark say you recorded this? You didn’t.
His example with DLLs is bollocks. The core of iOS uses a similar technology to share libraries accross applications. This is simply bashing without proper arguments.
It's like saying Windows 7 is shit because it works differently to OS X. 9 times out of 10 the end user doesn't know about the registry or the defragmenter once they've turned on auto defragment and the User Account Control is helpful if anything. It lets you know when dodgy programs want to take a wank on your system.
***** pretty much everything they said there is stupid, apart from the registry one, which sometimes does cause huge problems in windows environments, with entries often being left there by uninstallers.
...Mac is based off Unix, Linux is based off Unix...Android is based off Linux...and Windows is NOT based off Unix...Now what OS is more original?
Hanro Lareman And I could see the last time Mac got a meager UI change, I mean a old desktop mac I have setting in my closet somewhere and it's version off mac looks almost exactly the same
At-least windows changes its Icons, like the icon for the disk drive and streamlines some off the UI every few releases, Mac just adds a some stuff...and change up enough so that there older computers can't update and new software thus stops being developed for set computer...
+Hanro Lareman Not a fanboy of either, I have a 1200$ gaming / productivity PC and a 2015 MBP retina. That being said, unique isn't always the best, and up until a new kernel with windows 8 / 10 for an OS across devices, Windows has purposely stayed the same for legacy applications, that was one of the biggest points. However, Unix is a FAR more advanced system and is a much more stable platform, and MS's file system has been getting long in the tooth.
Recover 6GB of disk space is because they change the way of calculating bytes from 1024 to 1KB to 1000 to 1KB.
Too bad Windows 7 beats your Snow Leopard.
Let's not forget anti-virus software, replacement parts, support. That's a big dose. Keeping a Windows PC running can be expensive. It may seem cheap but you pay for it in the end.
Actually I had a 2007 HP with a 2.33Ghz Intel Duo 2 Core and upgraded to 4gb of DDR2 and I've seen glaciers move faster than Vista. It took my computer on the first day I had it over a minute to start up, I was listening to my iPod so i looked at the time on it. I had time to go make myself something to eat in the time it took for Vista to open any applications, I thought it was fast considering my last computer was a 1999 POS Dell. Then the hospital were I work bought me a Mac (continued)
this guy again, we need subtitles
rockerirwin this guy is French
What? You can configure the Apple mouse to have a left and right click. Some people prefer to have the mouse as just one button and some prefer to have a left and right click. On the Mac you can configure which side you want to do what. And on the macbook laptops you can click with 2 fingers for right click and 1 finger for left click.
It seems you don't have a clue.
Registry editor could become much powerful tool for people who understand windows to optimizing it. I would consider that a feature.
And for the other 99% of the world who doesn't know how to use that stupid Registry.......In other words, the Registry is NOT a feature. If you think so you're a nerd.
For them, it's just there when they need to.
I know mac is good to be defended. Eventhough, my mac friends ended up installing windows 7 in their machine that time. Or lets face the future (present), today windows 7 is still well updated. On the other hand, snow leopard is dropped.
Wesley Jordan do you know what is the use of the registry? Well I going to only say that you can edit important documents of the OS and other ...
The Problem: Most People kill their Windows by fucking the Registry
No, the registry is not a "feature" by any extension of what constitutes a "feature." In fact, the registry's very construction is misleading to anybody who is familiar with how the NT kernel's flat-database configuration system works. There is no actual hierarchy to the configuration database and "strings" are not categorized.
The registry is a problem because A: it's extremely easy for malware to implement damaging strings because Windows applications now inject registry strings for mundane things, due to Microsoft's poor implementation of the feature and almost non-existent separation of application strings from system component strings; B: UNIX and UNIX-like kernels handle their configurations laughably better in comparison to Microsoft's registry. They implement tiered database and don't store all component information in one single location, which makes it difficult for malware to exact vital files and allows distributions to optimize their own system based off the kernel.
the strength of OS X is the fact that it only runs in apple devices...which means its a full hardware-software integration....OS X is designed to run on macs....windows is not designed to run on a very specific system.
Windows 7 was the best. Clearly wins and leaves any OS X in the dust. The froggie conveniently forgot to mention that Windows works on any fucking thing
*including* Macs themselves
Windows can never compete with an OS designed for specific hardware with a unix core. Its just the laws of gravity let alone the dll infrastructure of the OS.
But he didn't show the sales of macOS vs. Windows 7. Wonder why...
Their Scared
I found Mac OS X Leopard quite buggy but then Snow Leopard came out it was a huge improvement. Loved it and still use it. Even though I have updated to the latest OS and got a newer Mac I still love going back to Snow Leopard.
Ironic how in 2018 Microsoft's latest version of Windows can't take over the market because of the many users of Windows 7
it's 2023 and my work PC at home is still happily in windows 7
10.4 and 10.5 are new OS's just like Vista was a new OS to XP. Windows 7 is actual Windows 6.1 with Vista being Windows 6.0. Your comment is fail.
The key is in the phrase "No end user should know about it". Good job Apple, herd the sheep
7 gets discontinued next week
Why does one of the best operating systems only come with expensive computers that are half the performance of evenly priced windows machines?
I miss that operating system. Stable, small footprint, uncluttered, and did everything it needed to do very well.
Went all the way from leopard to ventura and no update felt as good as from Leopard to SL. Just a rewritten, optimized OS that gave me back 6GB of my precious hard drive.
No, it's old technology. It's been a core component of windows since 3.1, and it's a prime target for viruses. There are far more clean ways to manage an OS.
Windows is better for games.. "entertainment" is too broad a claim. Between the two OSX has far more entertaining features out of the box, esp. iLife, and the overall functionality on the OS.
not really it provides the same features that have been refined by rewriting every major application in 64bit: finder, quicktime ect. while it may look the same on top it works differently underneath
I wonder why monsieur Serlet thinks, that a Windows User needs to use the Defragmentation frontend. It's completely automated. Just like in OSX. Laughing at a defrag-UI implies that an OSX user as well doesn't have to deal with defragmentation but also isnt provided with an easy way to configure defragmentation manually if he for whatever reason wants to.
Why argue what's best. Personal preferences cannot be discussed. Everyone prefers one or the other depending on what they use it for. That is personal preference. Each OS has it's + and - depnding on what you use it for.
windows 10 has still all the things he said, disk defrag, dlls, registry...
yep lol. and macOS is still light years ahead.
Microsoft: **Releases Vista**
Apple: **Murders Vista**
Microsoft: **Tries to fix Vista by releasing Windows 7(a “better” Vista)**
Apple: **Murders Windows 7**
Microsoft: 👁👄👁
Windows 7 still usable, Snow Leopard don't
@@LETTITBITYT yeah, I know, I actually really liked 7, and even though it looks dated it’s still very useable by today’s standards
Using the engine comparison - if a technology like "cold fusion" all of the sudden became available to fuel a car that was cost effective/more powerful, the internal combustive engine would be obsolete. What I'm getting at is there are newer more efficient foundations for an OS than that of windows. *shrug*
I'm glad you had a good experience with Vista. However, the vast user experience has been horrible, even on high end machines.
Funny how new Macos has so much access control.
if apple copies it is called as reinvention and in the same way other company innovates it is known as copy
@Sven88bac Indeed, Snow Leopard's Finder was completely REwritten in Cocoa and Mac OS X v.10.6 was made ready for 64-bit memory access and 64-bit technology. Windows 7, on the other hand, was just a facelift of Windows Vista.
The Admin thin that Windows 7 does when you try to install apps happens on Macs too and it's worse... At least in Windows all you have to do it type in your password, on Macs you have to go digging through System Prefs to allow it to run
How the hell is the registry bad?
i have a registry backup which checks randomly tat is theregistry okay and if its not it fixes it
Who the hell messes with the registry in the first place?
Adam Stewart me
ThatGTAFan720 Why?!
Adam Stewart personalization features, modifying program installs, configuration, backups, plus whatever I usually in CMD.
@TBytee Indeed, NT 6.1 so being some kind of service pack. At least an upgrade, while stile being based on Vista.
in which way/parts did they change the architecture?
Well all the xp users are running to 7 so you know, that's a lot of users
I use BOTH
same here, I am not either an apple or microsoft fanboy. if I had $1200 to spend for a notebook I'd absolutely go for the Macbook Pro. At this time I'd have to choose for a $600 ASUS. For desktop instead the Mac Pro could never be an option.
Will Snow Leopard work on my PC ? :
2 GB RAM Memory
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ (2.11 GHz)
nVidia GeForce 7300 LE (MSI)
RealTek HD Audio Digital Output Sound Card
Windows 7 RC1
Please tell me !
Well, it does, but only on certain machines. If you have an older Mac, try booting while holding the 6 and 4 keys. It boots in 64-bit.
guys, macs are just the best. Windows 7 looks virtually the same as vista just a little change in the user interface. Yeh, it will be much better than vista, but snow leopard is just showing how far ahead apple are.
Wonder what MAC is saying with Windows 10
@koliop95 That whole sentence i wrote. It was about Quality so where did "Quantity" come from?
linux requires you to build whenever you need to install something under copyright and it cannot replace many programs I often use. it needs to be more user friendly to be a valid alternative.
@Shexo
You're not getting it smartass. Yes, Snow Leopard is based on Leopard just like 7 is based on Windows Vista. He never denies any of that. But that's not the point. The point is that building on top of a strong foundation (Leopard) is good, but that building on top of a weak foundation (Vista) is NOT good. Do you get it now? Microsoft should start over, build something new instead of keep fixing their mistakes and calling it a "good" OS.
@skotters you don't have to just put two fingers on the trackpad to right click
Apple already supports gaming (and yes natively). Every new Mac has enough power to play new games but the developers have to write it. Unfortunately the Windows market share is a lot bigger than Mac OS X market share, and because of things like Windows using DirectX (non open source) and OS X using OpenGL (open source), less games become available for the Mac.
Luckily more and more games like Call of Duty 4 for example are getting available for the Mac in natively versions.
Hello Ancient comment
Apple , I really do respect your creativity and simplicity of All Mac OS but no matter how much you try to make fun of windows , Windows 7 is the best OS ever made .
why apple does mac to support and pcs???
We have a winner here! Congratulations marc180292, you're one of the very few people on RUclips who understands stuff.
This guy is the kind of bullshitting yesman that currently holds sway at Apple. Ive should be nowhere near software UI, Forstall has been sacked for basically one big error, despite being one of the most brilliant designers (Jobs kept him on board because of this) and Cook has no real vision. As windows 7 was a huge success the stupid 'I'm a Mac' ads were quickly dropped and they focused on attacking Android. You lose again Apple, the tablet and phone market is so oversaturated that the lack of innovation is gonna bite em on the arse. No one wants Apple Watch, but they will want AR/VR.
There is one Thing that Apple has to sell:
And thats original exclusive Software
Looking back on this comment, what do you think about the situation with Apple now?
@@aidenx3vv still totally agree on Forstall - there is still a lack of innovation generally. It's surprising how they are still coasting on the setup from Jobs... can't see that lasting another 6 years. Apple's biggest win recently is the switch to their own chips, which Jobs started off with the 'A' series anyway. The only thing wrong was the watch and AR/VR. Watch has worked and VR has flopped. I guess I expected the tech to be farther along by now tbh and the implementation has been worse than even the likes of MetaQuest.
They just waste time bashing Windows. When your product is so good, you actually hurt your image exaggerating the negative points about the competition. I like their presentations when they only focus on their new features, that's what I actually came to see you for!
@ROCKY19892 what actually could I do wrong? I just installed the browser and after reboot got blue screen, that happened 2 times for me... It is great guys that it works for but I just wanted to say that it is not always so... I am certainly not newbie with PC)) Macs - yes, I am a newbie)
Ironic how the features he mocks are useful things that macos lacks
@limusturim Well, you are right about one thing, I should rephrase that last statement: Nobody has been able to infect Mac computers, or at least not en masse like it happens with Windows computers. And it is also true that the Windows file system is indeed prone to fragmentation, but what I meant by saying that people don't have to worry much on newer systems is because the task is enabled by default to run every week. The only drawback to that setup is that users need to leave their pc's idle.
...Mac's are faster than vista machines. The OS isn't bloated at all, which is what slows windows down so much. Snow Leopard fixes all of Leopards imperfections and improves whats already on it. why? Because they're already so far ahead of Vista they don't need to make a completely different OS. Vista in Apple's eyes was a step backwards for MS, so nothing really needs to be done.
ooops. Hows the Market Share?
You know that you can use any mouse that works on Windows on Mac. Even the Magic Mouse has integrated right click.
MacOS still old technology... Unix, qt, openGL, all old, still used in MacOS, so honestly, what's the difference from Windows using old technology also?
what will their reaction that windows 7 is a succsess?
Apple does have it when you install new software it asks for the main password. E.g when you update Office.
Everyone is complaining about windows 7 being supported but, why support an old OS when everyone on Snow Leopard gets free upgrades for life to the next OS, or until that device is no longer supported.
Requires Vista or greater. Doesn't that mean XP??
Mac users, You think windows sucks? It doesn't one of the main reasons why windows gets errors is because the hardware is cheap or the drivers need to be upgraded etc. This is why gaming pc's stand strong because of quality parts. Macs are built with quality, if it was made with hardware from dell it'd probs die. Mac's have a lot of ASUS hardware, If you want a reliable PC Asus or Custom is the way to go.
Did steve jobs was on medical leave during this keynote?

Snow Leopard is one of the best releases of OS X, very fast and stable. Windows 7, to me is the only version of windows I can tolerate. Everything before 7 is insecure and basically obsolete, and windows 8 and 10 both have a ui that doesn't work very well. their unified operating system idea sounds good in theory but really they built an operating system that's not particularly good for either. never mind all the annoying maintenance stuff that comes along with using windows. All of the above is why I'm typing this on a MacBook Pro right now
@@NintendoDude888 I've had my MacBook Pro for years now and it has been reliable. Before that, I had one for ~8 years and there were no issues with reliability, only obsolescence.
But can it run Crysis?
It's also the most rounded and useful. It can do more out of the box than any other OS.
