I love my MillerMatic welder. Set my wire size, and then just set my dial for material thickness. Works a treat. I did buy 2 gas bottles, just so that when I run out of gas on a holiday Saturday night I’m all good to go. Still cheaper than renting.

For the rusted holes in the dash you could have saved work by just cleaning the holes up and with a flat piece of brass put it behind the holes and then weld the holes until filled. Then you remove the brass plate and grind the welds smooth. Also you can get different wire that's made for dirty metal.
That little mig is all you'll ever need for fixing tractor buckets to sheet metal.

I've just had my steering box repaired and the best way to do it is to find someone who can magnesium weld and get them to build it up for you as it's a magnesium casting and then get some special spray to protect it from happening again in the future

Adrian, I repaired a pinholes chainsaw petrol tank with a compound called Seal All which came from a motorcycle repair workshop/shop it was handy as it came in a small tube and was about £6 whereas the tins of sealant were £40+.
Great video she would look well with no roll bar and sprayed we had one on ours and we took it off

Excellent video Adrian, thoroughly enjoyed it and an excellent job at welding (I’m a little jealous) ! Don’t forget to put lick of paint under the plate on the dashboard. It will help keep it right. Best wishes!
Good tip for MIG welding, you want to follow/push your puddle when laying a bead unlike arc welding where you drag your puddle of molten metal. This will also help with burnthrough on the steel.

I usually braize the linkage rods and add in washers to take out all play. I think with the mig and the fine old metal all clean and got around spot welding the bits in then grind out

When the contractor comes to bale your silage if they have a fusion or wrapper that can use 2 rolls of wrap at the same time you can put on 1 roll of black wrap and one white and then it will wrap the bale in stripes and you wont have to the paint bales to keep the crows off of them.

Another great video as usual. Little tip with the mig one don’t weld wearing a t-shirt as you will end up with sun burn on your arms and two push the mig torch don’t pull. 👍🏻
Yip I learnt that the other day, nice red arm. Arc welder never did that
To take out the 2 bolts in the mudguards going through the axel I find if u cut the bolts on the top then lift off the mudguards, the bolts should be about 10mm proud of the axel housing. So a couple of good cracks with a sledge should get them moving once moved grind down the tops flush with the axel cos it. Probably be like a mushroom after the sledging then get a punch and a heavy hammer and it should be handy move it then. Works for me. Another excellent informative video. Keep them coming. 👌👍
The ammeter on my 135 sits in a complete rubber to insulate from metal work and hold it in dash I’ve had a quick look on tinterweb and think the Ferguson’s are the same maybe that may help. Be interesting to see if you can get it to work cause I can’t and is identical ammeter fills the hole in the dash though
Adrian Fergiland would be a good shout and steel putty for the gearbox, they are made of electron magnesium.
Hello Adrian, the tractor is starting to come together nicely for you. I get my argon (for TIG welding) from Stargas as opposed to hobby weld so I’m not sure if this applies to their CO2 bottles. I got a 20L bottle which is filled to 200 bar which is 4000L at atmospheric pressure, the 9L bottles are only filled to 135 bar which is only 1215L . The refills are only around €30 more expensive for over three times more gas so if the same is true for Hobbyweld CO2 then I would strongly recommend paying the extra few euro to upgrade to a 20L bottle because you will save a fortune on refills. Love the channel, keep it up.

Some little tips Adrian 1 always go forward when mig welding and 2 use both hands to make it easier but well done on them weld keep it up

Hi Adrian, I would say please paint it the Fergie Grey. Would look much better than preserved rust.
Two UK companies to try are Old Twenty Parts and Fergiland for spare parts and tinwork.
To fill that steering box hole bit of jb weld will do it because their is no pressure in that box so I won’t blow out
Great video again Adrian your further along than me as it turns out my engine is completely sized but it hasn't been started in over ten years and my mechanic friend who's helping me said that's not a big issue to deal with, and in my humble opinion I still think painting it up would be the better option but it is your tractor you should do what you feel is right for your restoration mate.
Ya you could get lucky with that engine as it may take very little to get her turning over, hope that’s the case.
I’m not going to paint it for a while to make sure all is running ok. Really like the old used look though as there’s so many of them painted out there. I’d feel like I’d be erasing its history 🤷🏻♂️
@@IFarmWeFarm Thanks Adrian hopefully it will be easy getting the engine going, and I can see your point on the paint but either way it will still look grand when its finished.
I used epoxy filler on inside of steering housing which had been badly attacked by electrolysis and have run with grease instead of oil in housing for some time with no probs.
JB weld will take care of that hole. I'm not sure what brand you may have there but that type of stuff works well.
Just be aware in future Adrian when welding in patches to take your time with the welding. Too much heat will warp and distort a panel. You are flying with that restoration. I started restoring a county back in 2005 and its still not finished😔. Although I have completed a few other project in the mean time and got married bought a house, had three kids and moved house again. Time flies👍

Hi Adrian that hole in the steering box happened on mine too. I drilled and tapped it to the nearest bolt size to the hole. (Mine was a m4 size hole)Put a bolt in leak sorted.hope this works for ya.

Glad you went with my suggestion with gas. Will it replace the stick welder? 🤔 No is the answer. Gas migs don't like wind and can be a faf to transport round the farm compared to a inverter stick welder for example. If your welding really thin stuff with the mig you might try pulses with the trigger to produce small spot welds or (laying the penny's) beside each other. Hi, the first oil pressure gauge i got for mine was terrible, zero was not lined up properly, was yours like that, great job your getting there, looking forward to the oil change, hopefully you won't be missing spring and washers in the filter housing like mine

Yip used to my half moons on the Arc welder, straps are for all the storms we get, we are very high up and exposed to some fierce winds. We tight here down to the tractors
Adrian wen using the mig you push the handle away from u.. un like the stick u drag the stick towards u...if that makes sense.. Good job all the same
@IFarmWeFarm I made the throttle linkage on my 1956 tef 20 with m6 threaded rod and new ball and socket joints as you can't get the linkages or rods.

@@IFarmWeFarm also there shouldn't be oil coming from that section of the gearbox as that's where the clutch is so my advice is lift of the cover and find out why there is oil getting out there. It's not an overly difficult job. I had the lid off mine to fix my 3rd and 4th gear.
small tip, while using rods u pull the weld, in this case you better push the weld.

A jubilee clip on the back of the ammeter will keep it in place

The fergies used to have a “Gas” pumping kind of toggle switch/pump/screw thingy on the top right of the dash. (That make any sense ?). If I’d waited I’d have heard you say plunger 😂😂
