Flatwoods Monster looks very similar to the cow stealing aliens from The Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask. Wonder if this monster was an inspiration for the aliens.
Other way around, the game creators were inspired from the real events.

Maybe! Also, Flatwoods WV sits on top of the largest coal deposits on the eastern seaboard. With coal comes lots of toxic gas, so it’s not improbable that it could cause people to hallucinate.
