Kunal Nayyar probably HATED playing such a cringeworthy, pathetic character. Raj was seriously cringey for the ENTIRE show, from S1-12. But he was paid a lot of money for it and became famous, so I guess he just repressed it. Oh fun fact: The showrunners ordered him to exaggerate his Indian accent. That's why it's so thick and awkward.

It's always clear this "show about nerds" was written by people who don't understand any kind of "nerd" culture.
You don't just die in Dungeons and Dragons, you roll dice for a "saving throw" up to 3 times. And you roll dice for damage and for dodging attacks too.
Dude if this show was about real nerds there would be no women in it....atleast not without money being exchanged.
They probably had to simplify it for audiences who aren’t familiar with the game as well as saving time as they have to keep the scene moving along so they have to choose how much time to spend on the game and what info is important.
