I got to drive the 1971 Dino 246 GT Tipo-M on the streets of Tokyo. I also talk a little about Dino's history while driving casually in Tokyo. Leonardo Fioravanti, who was the chief designer of Pininfarina at the time, not only designed the body of the Dino206GT and prepared it for production, but also conducted a prototype test drive to complete the car. Fioravanti, who was trusted by Enzo Ferrari, worked on masterpieces such as Daytona, 365BB, Testarossa, 308, 328, 288GTO and F40 before his death. 154 units of Dino206GT were to be produced and after evolved to 246GT. From the 246GT, 353 L-series, 498 M-series, 3062 E-series GT and GTS combined, and a total of 4067 Dinos were shipped from Maranello.

Yet being in its days overshadowed by the classic V12 Ferrari line up (330/365)and being rated a kind of a Cinderella I guess that the 206/246 are a real Ferrari product.They were intended to challenge the successful 911S 2000/2200/2400 series which were the big performers in their class.
The Dino 's specific output/displacement ratio actually was up to the V12 engine numbers which were in the region of 320/340 bhp.
In the early 90es I had a good buy at reach : a 246Gt in dark metallic blue over classic tan leather interior.Of course the car needed some cosmetic and a mechanic restoration,however it was absolutely worth the job.I misjudged the value could be sky rocketing as it actually did in the following years. I missed the business. Greetings !
