Both those people making faces are also incredible singers I’d love to see you analyze. Kelly Price started as a backup singer for Mariah and was with her for many years. Jonathan McReynolds is an amazing gospel singer/songwriter. They both have excellent technique!

Keke is a phenomenal singer! She has not been given the props that she is so deserving of. She is one of my top 5 female vocalists ever!! Everything about her vocal abilities are insane! Definitely diva status in my book.

@@Dahjonruby I know what self taught means I didn't ask you for the definition. Like I said I've always heard that she was self taught but given his comment I agree that her technique is good to the point that it's seems like she might have had some professional training but it could also very well likely be that she is completely self taught.

Amen. I have had those moments where I failed to make quiet notes powerful in the volume sense, basically it was an accidental misplacement. But then I realized that I could use it as a "tool" for variation.
And I hate classification. I had one voice teacher who tried to not allow me to sing higher than baritone, trying to have me in the "baritone team", refusing to hear my tenor repertoire or even warm up higher than baritone. But one day he decided to go up and up and up until he hit the soprano range and finally asked me if I ever thought to train as a #countertenor, but then warned me that they would never look at me for baritone-bass parts again.

check out Mahalia Jackson whom every other singer whether they know it or not have studied under her - just type in her name in youtube & listen & you will begin to see how every singer today needs to pay homage to her, she often times wouldn't even use a microphone in hand - she was & will always be Thee Original Queen - there would be no Aretha, no Whitney, no Mariah, no Celine, no Keke, no Beyonce etc without MAHALIA!
