    I have been looking for something like this.. real traditional archery in a formal competition, no accessories whatsoever..

    • @cheeseburgerwalrus499
      @cheeseburgerwalrus499 4 года назад +43

      trad is life.
      I have respect for all archers, it's not an easy sport to master, but there's something about traditional archery that is far for more captivating. I've only shot barebow my entire life, and I'm not an expert shot, by any means, so I have respect for those that do it well and on a competition level.
      Compound bows are cool and all, so is Olympic recurve, but going back to the roots is awesome.

    • @jvnee
      @jvnee 4 года назад +10

      cheeseburger walrus i agree. Those who say it is doable is true but the consistency to maintain is hard as heck

    • @MarshallStrider
      @MarshallStrider 4 года назад +6

      @@cheeseburgerwalrus499 I also love traditional archery. I started with recurves, now my focus is only on Longbows with traditonal wooden arrows. Nothing's better than shooting it. Love it.

      Check out the "Longbow" class in IBO its nothing but longbows shooting off the shelf and usually wood arrows.

      Way more interesting. All the stabilizers and accessories essentially take up the slack of the athlete. You don't put guide fins on an American football, or wall off sand traps in Golf, or attach guide cables to partially lift swimmers out of the water, so why should bows be accessorized?

    Now this is interesting to watch. Way more interesting than the Oly style and barebow sighted (stringwalking). What's interesting is the fact that they have the string touch their face and it doesn't appear to cause any discomfort or pain during the release. Love instinctive archery hopefully tournaments like this become more widespread.

    • @irzackihmj5259
      @irzackihmj5259 4 года назад +7

      They don't hurt their face because they use thumb release. If using 3 finger, it will hurt

      @@irzackihmj5259 That makes a lot more sense I forgot they are using a thumb ring. The string also wants to push to the right away from their face since they are holding the arrow on the right side instead of the left.

    • @TORREX-A.D.
      @TORREX-A.D. 3 года назад +1

      They just stare straight at the Target and it goes that direction you have to have the properly spined arrows which would be different than the ones you use for med. This all comes from the fact that a real warbow is real heavy like around 80 90 lb. there's no way that you could concentrate you just have to shoot instinctive but that turned into shooting targets that way with lighter bows.

    • @domovoibutler42
      @domovoibutler42 3 года назад +2

      @@TORREX-A.D. Ye I've figured that much! That's all I did too!
      However those warbows of 80 90 pounds, just because they are heavy doesn't mean they are efficient though, especially English longbow compared to a lighter and shorter recurve! And you would put the arrow on the holding arm side so it would fly better with the right release!
