The ones in use in the video were not exactly short bows. A straight stick style longbow would be fine I imagine. Probably no center pass bow, no fittings (balancers, sights, etc), no release aids...
Edit: Muhammad seems to be using an almost Hungarian style in the grip but the siyahs seem small for those bows? Christ it’s hard for me to tell lol They look like large Tatar bows, maybe Assyrian, or maybe a manchu style? A lot of these bows have similar shapes and I am bad at identifying them but these are short recurve bows or reflex reflex bows which were typically laminated bows (these are probably fiberglass laminated). These sorts of bows were frequent used by horse archers but these are pretty long for a strictly horse bow. These are probably loosely based on some historical bows. It’s such a broad category because it’s not strictly Asian cultures that used these bows, the Hungarians for example were prolific horse archers and used similar bows. I guess the best way to put it is these are laminated reflex deflex bows that use a wooden siyah or lever to help draw the bow and maintain string angle despite the bows size. Manchu bows were draw 34+ inches and excel at shooting large heavy arrows. Given the size of these bows their more “foot archer” than horsebow but again that’s strictly a bad way of looking at it and their reflex-deflex or traditional laminated recurve bows with siyahs. The Chinese guy looks like he’s using an Assyrian bow by Bogar archery.
I personally think Muhammad lost points his first few arrows were just too long for his anchor by a few inches. He might’ve scored better because once he started shooting the shorter arrows his score went up. It’s excess weight you don’t need and more importantly variation in shot sequence that’s unnecessary.
Not sure what to think of it... Asiatic archery is more about speed shooting than target. But here they shoot by western rules, which kinda defeats purpose of using the asiatic style of shooting.
Interesting to see Mohamed is using an Olympic style bow hand grip with this style of shooting instead of the traditional eagle claw style grip.

These are asiatic bows, made from wood/sinew/horn, or wood/fiberglass usually.
