Oat milk is so easy to make at home. One pound of oats is like $2. People paying $18 for oatmeal milk just shows you how useless we have become to convenience trends 🤦♀️
We’ve had Oatly in the Uk for so long. I remember in about 2013 they had a supply problem after their packaging was changed, so I emailed them about it and they were so cute and gave me a free pack.
Oatly are masters at marketing. Their whole strategy is to attract consumers by building a fan base, primarily through engaging baristas and having them in turn hype the product outward to other consumers via social media channels. Their periodic "dries" are, sure, to a degree based on production shortages but also self inflicted to keep the momentum and hype up. This strategy has worked great for them and is pretty hard to mimic. Would be near impossible for an established brand to try such a marketing method and succeed. Also their product is great, packaging is lighthearted and pokes fun at itself. All in all just a great and innovative way to succeed in marketing for a product that is really unusual!
I had Oat "milk" growing up over 30 years ago, there is no secret to it. Super simple to make heat water add to steel cut oats allow to sit until it reaches room temperature and strain through a cheese cloth add vanilla sweetener of choise and you got oat milk. The left over cake can be used to make bread, pancakes etc.
My grandmother has been making goat milk and oat milk since the 60s he said in the video it's a special patent way to do it it's not hard at all you just f****** steam the s*** then you strain it then you steam it again then you strain add more liquids in the ingredients in start the process over until you get Milky White oat milk at least that's one way of doing it I don't know how the f*** they do it they look like they was making moonshine LMFAO all I'm saying is there's always some special way you got to have some special tools all you got to have is what the Earth provides you my grandmother was a hippie and yes we have drunk oat milk from time to time I'm not just bullshiting but mainly she made oat milk to make this desert she would make I don't know what it was called but it was like Jell-O stuff what gelatin cinnamon something I don't know can't really ask her now she's gone but I can't tell you how to make oat milk without chemicals or big steamers
That's ridiculous - don't buy this stuff - it's easy as heck to make. Soak 1 cup of oats in hot water for 2 or 3 hours, or cold water overnight in the fridge. Strain. Put 3 cups of fresh water and the oats in a blender, and blend on high for 2 minutes. Strain through a sieve or cheesecloth. You're done. You also can leave it unstrained if you want it really thick. Costs about 1 cent per liter. Done.
I went to Iceland a few years ago and had read that a thing to try there was the unique (for Americans, at least) oat milk in their cafe drinks. Never would I have expected to see this sweeping the US just a little bit later!
I've been seeing Oat milk in U.S. Stores for years now and i've never seen the Oatly brand or noticed it. it's seems really expensive compared to other oat milks too. And this piece just looks like a 10 minute ad for Oatly.
Oatly has been around for years, even in non hipster places like my UK city. And it's not that expensive, but probably lacking supply to demand. Honestly, this just feels like an advertising campaign, and as someone that's tried all milks including that exact one, its absolutely disgusting. Stick with soy or normal milk.
soy milk is extremely bad for you, if your a guy and want to have low levels of testosterone, high levels of estrogen then drink soy milk develop man boobs and develop even more anxiety :)
Ah, good bait, unfortunately many believe this myth. I'm no longer vegan, but never once had any testosterone imbalances, which would have been noticeable in my physical career back then. We used to have blood tests often.
Oatlys way of making oat milk really compliments coffee, because it's froths better than any other milk substitute, don't let people try it raw the first time they'll be off put.
@@rootsm3 Interesting. But everyone is different and react differently. And I'm no doctor but I trust the ones I have and I trust my gut. If I drink soy or cow's milk, I'll be bloated, sick, lethargic, my intestines will shutdown and I'll be sitting on the toilet all day. Sheep, goat, oat, almond milk, no problem whatsoever.
Considering the fact that it takes more than a gallon of water to produce a single almond, almond milk needs to be fazed out of popularity. I'm willing to try purchase any other kind of dairy replacement. Guess I'll be trying oat milk.
Oat milk: in a mixer put 75 grams oatmeal in 1 liter of hot water water, let sit overnight, strain. Add a bit of salt to taste. I hope that liquid Oatly hasn't been being shipped from Sweden before the plant opened, heck of a carbon foot print. Oatly's sour cream is a really good, havent been able to duplicate it
I’ll say this: Ripple milk is quite a bit better. It’s cheaper and also tastes more realistic. (It’s made with processed peas and pea protein.) Try it out! It’s been around for a number of years now and comes in original, vanilla, creamer, chocolate, and unsweetened. :)

On the contrary a swedish product being mainstreamed is news to me. Swedes always trying to be like Americans, well this is your breakthrough y'all, enjoy n stop acting like this is not big news for you Swedes.
I suppose the secret oat milk recipe they're talking about is the one called iKaffe ("in coffee") because unlike other plant milk, that one actually behaves like animal milk in coffee, and gives it that smooth and creamy feel. Oatly's regular oat milk is just oat milk like any other.
I grew up on milk.... I can drink a gallon a day.... so I don’t always keep it in the house..... I walk to a local tiny tiny tiny store....she gets milk delivered three times a week.... straight from the farm. Lol and I’m Swedish....I didn’t know they loved milk sooo much! Since I drink it so often and eat 5-6 servings of green vegetables a day....I don’t get gassy....my body is used to it. I will never drink a milk substitute..... but for those who can not have dairy...I hope u can appreciate how amazing milk is!
Nevermind what is in the water they water the oats with in the field.... LOL. Or what all they spray on the plants. LOL. Just parrot hormones and cows and noone will think any farther. In the us they reuse fracking waste to water plants with.
If you don't inject milk into your blood stream then the hormones shouldn't be a problem. Hormones get broken down as proteins if you ingest them. That's why people that do anabolic steroids inject them.
The idiocy that the stuff we feed cows to make milk (oats & soy) are blended with water to make "milk" that is more expensive than cow's milk in the US because we have $$$ being thrown at dairy farmers in the form of ridiculous subsidies. So it's true that drinking plant "milks" is better for the environment generally than gassy cows but its ridiculous that they are more pricey. Me personally, when I drink "milk" I prefer almond milk but I like my cheese straight from an animal's udder :-D
I feel even more silly soaking my oats in oatly. Having said that, I prefer the old trick of avoiding some dairy milk nastiness by using dairy cream, the filtering and processing is supposed to save you from all nastiness that is water soluble.
@@xYouthAttackx yes its oatmeal and its even better than oatmilk. The idea is to soak it then rinse it to get out the brown water then you blend it where it turns white. Makes no sense straining it since you will get the added fiber from the blended oat itself.

I'll stick to my whole milk and half and half.... Been drinking it since I was a kid and I'll be drinking it till I die, and all these different milk is exactly what the guy on here said " a trend and hipster thing" and that is why it is so damn expensive and that is just stupid. Most of these other "Milks" taste like shit anyway
Che MeGusta Yeah But for a good portion of our evolutionary history we were not able to digest it. It wasn’t until we started domesticating animals that SOME of the human population was able to digest milk into adulthood. At this point in time about 50% of humans are able to digest cow/goat/etc milk into adulthood. So yeah, it may not be used into the future and I would argue that it is almost inevitable that in the future the types of food we can digest properly will be much different than now.
Oatly is very delicious but if you don't want to spend that much money, oatmilk is really easy to make, just soak oats for a couple of hours, blend with water (dates and pinch of salt optional) and that's it 😊

Oat milk is so easy to make at home. One pound of oats is like $2. People paying $18 for oatmeal milk just shows you how useless we have become to convenience trends 🤦♀️
Yep
Yes, but Oatly does have better taste and consistency IMO
We’ve had Oatly in the Uk for so long. I remember in about 2013 they had a supply problem after their packaging was changed, so I emailed them about it and they were so cute and gave me a free pack.
Oatly is a Swedish brand and I LOVE it!!
I freaking love it. I can't drink regular milk or soya. But damn I don't miss either of them.
why u cant drink?what happened if u drink?
coldogno7 she’s probably intolerant of soy and milk.
*Lactating Oats*
Good name for a punk band! 😎
Coconut milk is 2 dollars a liter and the good fats help you absorb the fortified vitamins and minerals
Have you tried macadamia nut milk? It's a taste revelation.
Is this an Ad?
Well bo you were quite informative despite the Initial turn off of your account name /pick lol, maybe you’ve outgrown it. Sorry about your GMaw.
Milk is not canceled. Just because y’all want to drink nut and oat juice does not mean others are done with traditional milk.
$18/ltr? Trendy hipster gentrifiers in Brooklyn will ruin this as well.
I love Oat Milk and Oatly is the best one I have tried so far. I am so happy to see that an Oatly plant is being built in the US!
Been drinking this for years in France and Spain haha.
Aren’t you special
So cool 🙄
That's ridiculous - don't buy this stuff - it's easy as heck to make. Soak 1 cup of oats in hot water for 2 or 3 hours, or cold water overnight in the fridge. Strain. Put 3 cups of fresh water and the oats in a blender, and blend on high for 2 minutes. Strain through a sieve or cheesecloth. You're done. You also can leave it unstrained if you want it really thick. Costs about 1 cent per liter. Done.
I LOVE OATLY!!!!!
My favorite product ever! Their chocolate oat drink is the best thing on the supermarket shelves!
Automation is the FUTURE! Mechanical and Electrical engineers will be in HUGGEEEE demand!
What do you mean? I was planning on going to college for engineering shit.
Is this that Swedish drink they sell at Ikea? If so, I love it. Tried it before, it's actually tastier than cow milk.
Coconut milk is dope too
Regular milk is pretty dope too... That's what I am sticking with... Lol
@@nicd7158 ur lucky I'm allergic
People use oatly instead of regular milk at least in coffee drinks here in Finland.
same in Sweden
and Norway
It costs 1.70 euros for a litre at super market in Finland.
Ya Oatly is just a marketing play
soy milk is extremely bad for you, if your a guy and want to have low levels of testosterone, high levels of estrogen then drink soy milk develop man boobs and develop even more anxiety :)
Ah, good bait, unfortunately many believe this myth. I'm no longer vegan, but never once had any testosterone imbalances, which would have been noticeable in my physical career back then. We used to have blood tests often.
THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BEST OATMILK BRAND! been using them in my coffee
Drinking my oat milk cappuccino as I watch this in my Brooklyn apartment
Amaranth and pea milk is the wave my dudes
This is my favourite, dairy free milk. It pisses me off why healthy/Vegan/better for the environment products cost a fortune.
Because the dairy industry gets huge subsidies. It would be cheap if was "corn milk". lol Another highly subsidized food.
Not sure if I would consider that stuff as healthy. It is highly processed and not clean at all. Look at the ingridients list.
Alice007123 It's a damn sight more healthy then dairy and more ethical and better for the environment. It is also very nice.
Lucy Blue Yes my friend makes it and it looks easy but it time with me.
Oatlys way of making oat milk really compliments coffee, because it's froths better than any other milk substitute, don't let people try it raw the first time they'll be off put.
I'm allergic to cow milk and soy protein so I've been drinking oatly (and sheep milk) for years. And using oatly cream for cooking.
You can't be allergic to cows milk and not sheep milk though...it's made of the exact same things just different ratios.
@@alflurin Could have something to do with rbgh - bovine growth hormone. They pumps cows full of antibiotics. Sounds delicious, huh?
@@danielchristmas6967 Interesting. Thanks, I'll have to talk about that to my doc.

(It’s made with processed peas and pea protein.)
Try it out! It’s been around for a number of years now and comes in original, vanilla, creamer, chocolate, and unsweetened. :)
Yesssss!!! Pea milk is so much better. Most nutritious milk on the shelf even over dairy! 🙌🙌
Oh, ripple is more expensive where I am :/
The chocolate is delicious!
Nothing is cheaper than making oat milk at home with oats bought in bulk
In Canada we have been selling oat milk for years. There's like 3-4 brands that make it. Even the dollar store sells it.
Oat milk
Almond milk
Soya milk
Rice milk
Cashew milk
Peanut milk
Goat milk
coconut milk
And so on.
Why is this news?
As a Swede I'm very confused, this is some damn old news.
Eller hur?! 😁
Nog första diskussionen jag sett där amerikanare diskuterar något så sent efter oss i Sverige.
On the contrary a swedish product being mainstreamed is news to me. Swedes always trying to be like Americans, well this is your breakthrough y'all, enjoy n stop acting like this is not big news for you Swedes.
Oatly is avaiable at every bigger supermarket in Germany (as well as spain/..) and it costs about 1,99 Euro per Liter :D
@Menno W you better do!
It just tastes better to me because of the sugar content. It's like having cereal milk all the time.
It actually has less sugar in it than cow milk. The one I buy has 3.5 % and cow milk has about 5 % sugar per weight. Lactose is sugar.
Adez0 That’s why you make clabber
Yeah, I don't think it's actually the sugar, it's just that it reminds me of roasty toasty oats like in cookies and oatmeal.
I suppose the secret oat milk recipe they're talking about is the one called iKaffe ("in coffee") because unlike other plant milk, that one actually behaves like animal milk in coffee, and gives it that smooth and creamy feel. Oatly's regular oat milk is just oat milk like any other.
We have Oatly at home. Works great. 👌
About time we stopped drinking cows milk that’s filled with hormones. Oh and btw oatmilk has been in New Zealand for a long time now 😂😂😂
There are so many different alternatives for milk. Oat milk is interesting, but I think I'll just stick with soymilk.
BioWareLove you can drink whatever you want, I’ll stick to my “hormone” milk.
You know there is hormone-free milk, right? It's just a little more expensive.
Found Oatly at Target once but then it disappeared😕
The hype people found it :/
18 dollars a liter?!?! Here in Sweden we pay around 1.5 $ a liter.
On behalf of the sane part of Sweden, I'm sorry.
Goodness. Just make your own non-dairy beverage. It’s simple: plant, water, pinch of salt, sweetener of choice, blend, and strain.
I tried Quaker Oat Beverage: Vanilla flavor. One word... Delicious!
We learned almost nothing from the simple ass questions you ask the CEO, why even interview him?
just blend oat and add water.....ur done!
oat milk!
lol isn't that just oatmeal?
plus a little bit of salt
@@xYouthAttackx yes its oatmeal and its even better than oatmilk. The idea is to soak it then rinse it to get out the brown water then you blend it where it turns white. Makes no sense straining it since you will get the added fiber from the blended oat itself.
Why does oat milk cost so much in the US, in europe, half a kilo of oats costs 60 cents and with half a kilo of oats you can make 25 cups of oat milk.
Cow Milk companies
This oat milk been out for years like 10 plus years why is vice covering this years later
As human beings cows breast milk is bad for us. Unfortunately for many years the dairy industry brainwashed us with their false information and propaganda.
It's also bad for our environment and the animals of course

Natural selection will decide which milk will prevail, and which milk will fall to the forces of nature.
cow milk is around for 7500 years so guess which one will.
Proud soy boy milk drinker here. Easily the best.
Btw the best milk is breast milk.
Oatly is very delicious but if you don't want to spend that much money, oatmilk is really easy to make, just soak oats for a couple of hours, blend with water (dates and pinch of salt optional) and that's it 😊
iKaffe is the best, even my farmer's lobbyist dad is now using it with his coffee for a year or so. So nice and fatty

Naum Rusomarov It’s not the video is misleading it’s $5 in store and $7 on amazon
