Just eat is a delivery service. Sure they could do more and probably should. However the council had allowed a 0 star hygeine rated place to continue trading. As a chef I can say that to get 0 stars you should be closed until standards are improved. Just eat probably should do more however they aren't trading with businesses that are trading legally.

How the hell can a Restaurant with 0 rating even be allowed to stay open?. I blame the Authorities for this mess and danger to the General public and the Girls death. Cannot believe this is happening in Europe, seems more like a Third World Country.
Point of correction, third world countries have far healthier food. We plant our own food, eat from the soil and dont have fast food restaurants to spoil ourselves and make us obese

I just order directly with the takeaways. Just Eat apparently charge up to 20% to an establishment just for an order which means these small takeaways are slowly being run into the ground as their profit margins are so low anyway. It’s just leads to taking away incomes for everyone within an takeaway eventually and most importantly our community and British tax. Nothing wrong with ordering the old fashioned way through a phone and speaking to someone, we have our phones with us constantly so what’s stopping us
Thomas W. I have a friend who currently pays between 300-350 a week to just eat for simply allowing a means to order through them. If that 20% of a business then that’s between 1500-1750 a week say even 2000 a week turnover. He has 3 permanent staff, 3 drivers over a week. Overheads etc are currently leaving him with a taking of about 100 if he’s lucky as he still has to put in money to go buy goods daily. Some weeks he’s managed to take about 250-300 which only counts as a wage but no profits really.
I'm not being funny, but if you have a serious allergy then IMO, you should NOT be ordering takeaways and only eating out at very carefully selected and trusted places. You are dicing with death, and although the establishments can be punished, it's too late when you're dead. I find it bizarre people don't understand this. Mind blowing.
@@grytlappar It's a very common British phrase meaning "I'm not trying to be nasty/offensive/mean on purpose". We say it ALL the time 😂 it's not wierd for us Brits at all to say that.
It's a very sad story but considering this is not the first time I have heard this happen, I'd have to agree. The saddest story I came across was when a man frequented a restaraunt that swapped their rapeseed oil to peanut oil without notifying customers of the change in recipe. This caused a deadly allergic reaction in the man.
From watching this documentary, it is beyond clear to me that SOME individuals working within these establishments cannot even fucking understand when someone is asking an important allergen-related question. There ought to be more done by everyone involved: individual consumers being vigilant about what they put in their bodies; but also, individuals in food establishments being more vigilant about want they put in their food, understanding laws, regulations and health!! Sort of amazed you four pricks gloss over that side of the equation..
@E Mulan, @ chaps, @ABD, @John Maclagan So lets say you have a prawn intolerance (just as the girl who died was reported as having). You call up, place your order and explain your dietary requirements. They confirm your order but do not necessarily understand or acknowledge your preferences. You consume the order and it turns out it is contaminated with the foodstuff you're intolerant to, you have a reaction and potentially die. Is it still something you are to blame for?
@@KerouacsAccomplice I don't want to be insensitive to the girl who died but generally If you have an allergy that can kill you, ordering food from a new place over the phone/ through an app is not responsible especially if you are not carrying an epipen. This particular situation could have been avoided. The restaurant reassurance isn't enough, you need to talk to the cook personally so that they can fully understand the seriousness of your allergy and remind them to wash every cooking utensils before they make your food.
To be fair, if you had a nut allergy then you don't order from Indian restaurants, because just like Tia, Chinese, Japanese, Middle eastern... they use a LOT of nuts in their cooking. And food prepared in a kitchen where nuts are prepared will never be 100% safe, because there are extractors and fans blowing it into every single area. I find it more sad that her parents didn't explain why she shouldn't really eat in these restaurants let alone a take away, where it's on a lot faster pace and more risk of cross contamination. Worked much of my adult life in restaurants, this isn't an excuse.. just facts!! If you see dishes on the menu that have nuts, especially if more than one, then you best steer clear of that restaurant or take away if you have a nut allergy. Unless the restaurant has nut allergy free zone, some higher market restaurants will have a special prep/cooking area (a sealed room) especially for nut allergy's. And also you need to check whether they use peanut oil in their cooking, as Asian restaurants will also be likely using traditional seasoned woks.. and this will mean the oil is likely to be in the pan in small amounts... I am as saddened by this as anyone, BUT we have to stop being a nation that needs to be led by the hand and become a nation of using common sense and look out for ourselves. If you don't know someone why would you trust them with your life? STOP expecting total strangers to be the ones looking out for you, you're playing Russian roulette!!! !
Interestingly, I am not British myself, but I find it really interesting to what extend this hand-holding goes. Even the 'look left' on the streets... But I don't think Just-eat should have any more of a responsibility than they advertise with, as they fulfil the role of agent, not the restaurant itself. (ofcourse providing wrong information is a different story). They can set their own standards for allowing restaurants on their site as long as it is transparent. It should be a restaurants obligation though to provide correct allergy information when asked for. When I was in London couple of weeks ago, every restaurant asked whether we had any allergies... so it highly depends on the place
Chinese takeouts typically only use cashew and peanuts for a couple dishes. There is the risk of cross contamination though if they aren't strict on storage and handling. I remember we had people allergic to gluten and nuts come in to ours, we'd only serve them during quiet times when we could take the time to avoid cross contamination. They were fine with that as most others places wouldn't bother. It's quite risky though as my parents were not educated and did not realize how serious it could be until my brothers friend almost died from a nut allergy (not due to us) but just randomly walking down the road.
@@frituurvlieg the big problem with the whole nut issue being more dangerous in a kitchen than ANY other allergy product is that they create dust when crushed, chopped etc, it's also used as oil, and seasoned pans are highly likely to contain it in small quantities.. the list goes on and on. That's what makes them so dangerous. I used to work as a manager in a well known high end London restaurant in the eighties and nineties, our restaurant had a separate small kitchen for nut allergy customers where their food was cooked... Lower end restaurants esp take aways wont have this. In an ideal world we should be able to say no nuts and there aren't any traces... all it takes is for one person to not think and move a peanut oil bottle and have it on their thumb, and touch your plate of food and if you're highly sensitive, good night Vienna .... dust if they use raw nuts is another big issue...
intempify yes it would be good quality of service. But the service quality is something a provider should decide for themselves. It’s up to the public to decide whether they deem this service valuable. However, if they would place this on their site, suddenly they become responsible and need to do audits and what not. It’s more then you would think... The restaurants should always have the up to date info as they are the ones actually in the kitchen. I think errors are much less when info comes directly from the source

It's not just the ingredients a restaurant needs to watch, it's the cross contamination issue concerning other cooking implements, splashes of a contaminant from one meal affecting another. It's almost impossible for any restaurant to completely guarantee safety in these matters. It's not fair to expect them to. If you have a serious, life threatening allergy never buy anything from the restaurant if they work with the allergy causing ingredient on the premises - even if for meals you aren't ordering. It's all from the same kitchen, after all!

I agree. It's foolish to buy foods from takeaways if you are sure that you have a serious life threatening allergy. There is a *world* of difference between what you 'should be able' to do and what you 'should' do, and regardless of the rights and wrongs, ordering food from a takeaway if there is a risk of it killing you is like playing Russian roulette. Nonetheless my heart breaks for those parents and indeed anyone who has to spend their whole lives worrying about what they eat in case the next meal could be their last.
The business model of companies like Just Eat is ingenious and highly profitable for owners and investors. Fund managers love their "capital light" model: very few up front costs, just a great idea, website and software and low paid delivery riders. Above all, no responsibility when anything goes wrong because the restauranteurs take all the blame. It's the ultimate in "delegating down": get the front line to do the hard work, take care of health and safety, and take the prison sentence when it all goes wrong. Think before you enjoy the convenience; the Just Eat/Deliveroo model is parasitic on those who do the real work.
Just eat took like a whopping 25% margin from each order... and one of my auntie was in this game as well.. but she also gave up in the end. more and more and more professional who used to work in this sector is basically taken out of the running by these marketing companies... and now, I found out recently that there are large American firms... that has mega big farms now like "one month chicken"... that makes the nuggets... and things like that. Since cutting back my waist size has gone back to what it should be and I feel more healthy as a result. I cook my own food, I know exactly what is going into it.
I cook most days of the week, go to restaurants when out with friends. The rare instances I order a takeaway I go directly to the place because Just Eat requires you pay a certain amount before it can be delivered, considering the rising commission fee I can see why.
22:55 if you have allergies or health problems you don't eat at fast food restaurants to begin with at all. Unless you order bottled water and apples from McDonald's. Eat fresh vegetables, fruit, etc., and fresh food. Who eats fast food and asks if it's okay to eat if they have health conditions? This is how much this whole thing makes sense.
I can't see why it is Just Eat's fault that a restaurant was negligent re allergies. That meal could have been ordered via Just Eat or directly by phone from the restaurant. Restaurants with a zero star rating shouldn't be operating and Councils have full powers to deal with that. Many staff in take aways/restaurants are poorly paid and probably not familiar with allergy regulations or even speak much English. Focussing on that might have made a worthwhile documentary. But hell it's the BBC and I'm sure that would be waycist
Just Eat does have some responsibility since they give takeaways much more exposure to people than the takeaway could have themselves. So if they are introducing customers to these places, then yes, they should take some accountability.
Just eat pass on the allergy information and thus should have a more stringent process in ensuring that the information is read and adhered to. A simple two step process for allergy information could help this. They need to take off takeaways with poor hygiene ratings or at least display their rating. Getting ill can kill as we have seen.

But surely you know this before you start working no? Do these jobs not count as self employed? Because with self employment you don't get any benefits.
@@natassialongmore8228 they do kind of self-employment because you are an independent contractor. Because the most expensive thing that you're going to pay as a business is wages. Next to that it's Healthcare. So we are increasing jobs, and I'm here in America. But most of them are low-wage jobs. For instance in America Walmart purposely Works their employees under 40 hours so they don't have to pay benefits. And so that their employees can still qualify for government assistance like food stamps and Medicaid.

@@hannah60000 I work for deliveroo, and TRUST me, this is the biggest load of nothing going. Those "dark kitchens" are literally all 5 star hygeine quality. The staff are free to open doors and windows. The food is good, i have had it myself. This really was just a waste of taxpayers money.
@@bibtebo Some dark kitchen don't even have windows. And who is managing the cooks to ensure that hygiene standards are being adhered to? And where are the toilet facilities for the staff and are they being cleaned to an acceptable level for a food preparation environment? And what about the impact on residents of dozens of mopeds embarking and returning on literally hundreds of journeys every single day and night?
@@anonnymous4684 Thats bollocks. They are allowed to have the door open at the very least. They are being managed by a manager, just like in a restaurant, they have been graded on hygeine independently and have 5 stars. The toilet facilites are seperate and on site. As far as residents are concerned, all the ones i have been to are on industrial estates and the moped traffic isn't that insane either. Guess what. You just lapped up a load of media bollocks and created a narrative in your head about it.
@@bibtebo Oh wow. They are 'allowed' to open the door. The height of comfort for workers in a hot kitchen. Lucky them. The complaints from residents have been such that Deliveroo are now considering switching from mopeds to bicycles to mitigate the noise issue. Hygiene standards are difficult to enforce in real time in conventional restaurants so I'm sceptical about your assertion that these cooking sheds have all been granted 5 stars. Though of course, your claim dovetails neatly with the narrative you're attempting to push on behalf of these rapacious market disruptors.
What responsibility are we taking for the part we are all playing in this?? We hardly cook at home anymore and increasingly, a large number of us want our food delivered right to our doors in minutes, using a faceless mechanism like Just Eat and Deliveroo. The power these two companies have is given to them by US!
i like to think people order takeaways when its a rare luxury meal or a convenience on a hectic night. but when those moments happen, i'd like to assume that i'd still be kickin after one unplanned meal ya know
hellowhitepeople but a rare luxury at the expense of a fine home cooked meal at a fraction of the price. Plus you know exactly what’s in the meal. Some of these takeaways hygiene standards leave a lot to be desired at best 😳. 😂
Steven Shawa If only they knew the cleanliness standards of many takeaways, that’s even more depressing. I think I’ve watched too many documentaries by food standard governing bodies that vet these takeaway restaurants etc 😳😂
in my country they do inspections periodically, and if any customer is deceived. A huge fine will immediately fall, and the possible closure of the establishment. this also happens if the inspection detects lack of hygiene. Journalism is not just for giving news, it also serves to alert people to this type of events. it should be like that everywhere.
after 10 years of working in restaurants, I can confidently say that the UK restaurants are full of people who cannot speak basic English and, as much as some companies say they are training their staff, it is totally possible that, the combination of the pressure to meet the targets (that managers are being put under, daily, by their greedy bosses) and food safety clash, and it is just a matter of time when and where someone else will fall ill or die again...there is also a great confusion between vegan and vegetarian diet...there are people that are making your food and have no idea what veganism is and in the occasion of being put under a great pressure, most likely, do not care as much as they should, definitely not as much as vegan people, who care greatly about animals.... cooking is great fun and a fantastic way to eat healthily, and it's much cheaper .....invite your friends and cook together, at home....it is a great way to socialise!!
Totally this. Also there are Head Chefs who speak English perfectly but don't really give a toss although they pretend to when it comes to bollocking their staff, you will see them drop tongs on the floor and just pick them up and carry on using them. Also a common practice is just to use one cloth all day for everything...holding hot pans, wiping hands, wiping surfaces, and wiping plates that customers eat off, because they don't buy enough blue paper (kitchen roll) as they get bonuses from the owner based on how little they spend on orders from suppliers. I never eat in restaurants, in the UK at least, for this reason.
Funy how people that say ''cook at home'' trust what's sold in stores and markets more that what's cooked in a store ... the problem is not take away. The problem is ordering from a place you never phisically visited before. We order from a place we visit from time to time and really really avoid ordering from place we never visited .
Better for you, yes. Better quality, yes. Cheaper, debatable. Quicker, definitely not. You can start your order before you even reach home, i.e on the way back from work. This means your food will be there 5 mins after you walked in through your door. There's no way you can cook faster than that. The whole USP of takeaways is the ease and quickness of the food.
you cannot ban take-away food business, but you can increase taxes on such forms of business, and those additional taxes can be used to reduce taxes for food businesses which hire more employees as a practical economic encouragement for businesses to survive and expand
About 18 years ago I had new neighbour's move next door. A group of young Kurdish men . They seemed nice enough, seemed to work, were fairly quiet and this was a blessed relief after years of having troublesome noisy neighbour's. After a while I noticed that there were a lot of cooking smells at all times, cars coming and going etc. I also saw there were piles of rubbish piled up in the back yard, dozens of empty containers of various sauces etc. Yup, they were running a take away business from an unlicensed premises. The house was absolutely filthy by the way.
My parents live at the far end of a private driveway to 3 houses. The house that is at the road end had endless deliveries and they would block the private access on a regular basis for long periods. The guy was renting the house and using a domestic residence as a food production unit. In fact he used to cook chutneys and relishes in his back garden. My father asked him to ensure that the drive is not blocked and he started to bully my father. One day when I turned into the driveway, this bully stood in front of my car blocking my way and refused to move. He picked on the wrong person. I said 'so you are the guy bullying my father are you? Well, if I hear about anymore bullying or blocked driveways, then you will find out all about bullying because I have photographic evidence of you making commercial food stuffs in your back garden and if you keep bullying my father then public health will hear about what you are doing' Had no more problems afterwards.
I know that you've concentrated on the bad side of things but I find Delivero business module very interesting. restaurants in my country are really struggling to stay afloat and a restaurant without all of the extra overhead sounds interesting. There is a business with a 'just eat' module here already. The allergy research that you did was a bit unfair, you asked stuff who didn't really knew what you're asking about. AND if you have an allergy you need to carry a special pen with you in case you do have a life threatening allergy then this pen can literally save your life
No more deliveroo and just eat for me that's for sure. from now on I will just be ordering directly from my local restaurants when I can't cook my own meal... i will no longer support the disrupters :)
I used to use Deliveroo a lot when I lived in Dublin but haven't really used them here in the UK. I usually just order from restaurants where I've ate before so I know what I'm getting. They are expensive but super convenient though
There a lot of Shady business going on and the council allows it to happen. Airbnb, uber, food businesses. People have just got to be careful about who they are trusting with their lives.
I cook my own food a lot. But If I or my family do order a take away, we use a trusted local business or a chain such as papa johns etc. Mainly because a lot of the local takeaways have dismal hygiene ratings.
Or buy a wok and learn how to make a frikking stirfry! It's literally less than 10 minutes to put together, and if you cook 2 cups of rice at a time, it will keep for 3-4 days easyly.

Nothing wrong with ordering the old fashioned way through a phone and speaking to someone, we have our phones with us constantly so what’s stopping us
Just Cook.
Come on, there's massive profits on takeaway food, and they all make a killing

These people kill themselves by ordering from take out shops. Don’t blame anyone else! You lot just want money.
So at what point does personal responsibility come into play? All I see is people complaining about things that they can avoid.
I came here to write exactly this. Well said
Hoping that people will figure this out, well said people need to take alot more responsibility
@E Mulan, @ chaps, @ABD, @John Maclagan
So lets say you have a prawn intolerance (just as the girl who died was reported as having).
Agree, you cant just ask for something with no nuts and don't give a margin of error

I'm a user of many food delivery services in many countries, including rapidly burgeoning disrupter enterprises in SE Asia, as a consumer, it's super convenient and tbh, I never thought much about it. This kinda knock me right in the gut (the fact that it's hurting mom & pop's businesses) and perhaps will factor in my future decisions on using food delivery app.
Cook at home! It's cheaper and healthier!!
Yes it is unless you want and Indian, Chinese, or Thai. Do you know how to cook all these dishes as perfectly as the takeaways?
They didn't say it would be the same, sure they might not have the experience but they know what is going into it and they have a self obligation to make it healthy. It might not taste as good (usually because the recipe isn't right and needs tweaking) but it almost always will be healthier because takeaways don't care about healthy ingredients if they take longer to prepare/cook.
@@56beverley
Yes, I can cook any dish, from any country. If you know how to read recipes, than you know how to cook. It's not hard. It just take some practice!!
Cooking at home ensures cleanliness and healthy ingredients because you're the one buying those healthy ingredients. No sub-par ingredients in my kitchen!!
Healthy ingredients such as Himalayan sea salt, organic grass fed ghee/grass fed butter, and 100% organic olive oil or organic avocado oil make a huge difference in your health. Organic veggies and grass fed/grass finished meat is so much better than regular meat. Wild caught fish, NOT farm fish.
Restaurant uses the cheapest ingredients possible to maximize profits. Restaurant doesn't care about your health.
Cook at home!! Healthy and cheap!! The problem is laziness!!! Most people are simply too LAZY to cook at home.
When their health fails, they are surprised. Lmao
Not everyone is a chef
@@mrumarGTA
People are full of excuses.
You don't have to be a chef to read a cook book.
If your health is important to you, you'll learn to cook at home. It's just as simple as that.
Do you value your health or not. Eat out often means no. Cook healthy meals at home mean yes.
It's simple, folks.
Health is wealth. Without health, you have nothing.
For me there's no better satisfaction than home cooked meals...you know what's in them, cooked to your specifications.
Organisation, preparation..... simple.
But people forgetting how to cook
@@abdullahb3870 too lazy to cook so choose easy option.....
Am a chef and i can tell you its 100% impossible to keep food safe, i have personally witnessed when we've cooked meals for service and put out on our hot counters or prepared a whole variety of salads, a staff member has lapsed in concentration and has used the same serving spoon or tongs to serve a customer which potentially contaminates everything or a customer has used the same tongs to prepare their own takeaway salad container because they couldn't be bothered to use the different tongs provided for each salad and again this contaminates everything - in either situation if a customer has a reaction then liability is on us - am not surprised just eat and deliveroo distance themselves from any allergen control system a restaurant might have in place cause if they did and considering the vast amount of restaurants they have on their platform, the liability is unimaginable, the law needs to change to force these companies to have some accountability or force them to do some due diligence on their restaurant partners
Shame that you ended an interesting comment with a call for more fucking regulations. As if business isn't strangled enough already in this authoritarian nightmare of a country.
If I had an allergy I would want to be in control of what goes into my food. No takeaways.
I totally agree - strong enforcement action needs to be taken to close the likes of Just Eat and Deliveroo down, at all levels - they are scammers and have no right to use recognised brand names, deliberately confusing customers
Delivered nice and cold.
Most of these guys end up ringing the wrong door bell. Bless them!
Now- the people working in these food outlets are not educated and work for pennies- you really expect them to know about food alergies etc when they come from countries that eat all sorts of ingredients?!!! If you have an alergy cook at home and dont eat take outs! Look after your health yourself and dont expect others to look after it for you!
Shaf Serious we have restrictions and laws on stating how a company or business has to state what is in foods ESPECIALLY if it can cause an allergic reactions (lists are found online in most languages)
They should get educated before they operate a business, ignorance of laws and consideration of others is not a plea. It's practically an admission of guilt.
Everyone has to deal with these laws. Stop segregating groups of people from others it's ridiculous. Everyone abides by and under common law. No one person is special. Unless they are our royal family, then they are very special indeed. 🇬🇧
Always forget at least 1 thing and offer to bring two next time...

@@josh429 Well missing item means no or low, at least in the US, which is very customary to tip food delivery drivers.
Just eat are pure con artists, they claim there’s a delivery fee and admin fee, just phone up and place your own order with the takeaway themselves and save at least a fiver a delivery, you’re welcome 😉
Not only that you save the takeway about 15% commission. Means cheaper prices and higher quality ingredients in the long run
Down my way when u order the driver trys to charge more so if it meal including delivery is 17 quid the driver wi say that's 20 quid trying to pull a fast one lol
not all takeaways deliver though, takeaways that do usally wouldnt be on just eat
They mainly target food places that dont deliver
A lot of takeaways don’t specifically take card, or at least card over the phone. For example, a local Chinese near me is cash only, but is on Just Eat so you can use your card.
My heart breaks for that poor child's parents. RIP Megan. x
So informative. I use Hello Fresh boxed delivery service now...completly changed the game for me. Have not ordered fast food(take away) in months. My husbamd and daughter appreciate the change as well...as we all work. Home cooking is always best. You shouldn't loose a love one over a take out order.
I have many issues with these app companies. E-commerce companies. But my main issue comes down the wages. I'm here in America. And you're basically a contract worker. That company pays you a slave wage and you have no benefits no healthcare and nothing. That is a serious issue with me. They're making millions while you're barely scraping by.
But surely you know this before you start working no? Do these jobs not count as self employed? Because with self employment you don't get any benefits.
@@natassialongmore8228 they do kind of self-employment because you are an independent contractor. And unfortunately a lot of companies are moving towards temporary services and independent Contracting so they don't have to pay benefits.
I agree with you. "Self-employment" is a luxurious phrase often used now to describe the enslavement of a lot of young people who are trying to earn a living to pay their bills and JUST TO EAT, ironic isn't it?
Wait they pay you and you can leave at any time slave you are slave you are
@@natassialongmore8228 that is not the issue. The issue is is that we are becoming a society of low-wage slave labor. And you have countries, states and cities who are allowing multi-billion-dollar companies to take advantage of people. They don't want to pay benefits to their employees. So they use temporary services or you become a contract worker. But in the long run what is this going to do to the economy? 90% of the world's wealth is only controlled by less than 10% of the human population. Being self-employed doesn't have the same meaning it did 50 60 or a hundred years ago. You're not going to become a multi-millionaire working for e-commerce company that pays you a slave wage.
Yet just eat fees are the following:
Set up fee £699.99 plus 20% vat
14% on commission plus 20% vat
£0.50 admin fee Plus 20% vat
It's shocking about just eat and all they care for is money vs the healthy diet for the public, but like I told my mum, does it have to cost a life for them to change on how they work?
Obviously it did not.
Just boycott them!
All sugar companyd should like stop selling sugar then 0eople will be healthier and we wont have money
What advantage do services like Just Eats actually bring? Me and my family order food from local restaurants, and we just contact them directly either by phone or order online. We have our regulars but if we want to try something new we just scout around on the internet.
I really feel for her parents, it must be devastating for them and in an ideal world restaurants would have separate kitchens for common deadly allergies.
However if your daughter has a deadly allergy, then surely you would teach her the severity and the importance of being responsible for her safety with food??
You can tell a chef about your allergy but they don’t always understand how serious it is.
If I were Megan’s mum I would not have been happy about her having a takeaway full stop.
On what planet do you order a takeaway when you have a serious food allergy ?🤷♀️
At this rate a better option for the restaurants would be to put up a sign - Order at your own risk.
I would prefer if chefs use gloves whilst cooking imho.
Akosua Poku trust me dese ppl have long nails sometimes
kwame opoku and they don’t wash their hands too. I was on a double decker bus one and witnessed a chef used his soggy tissue to blow his nose, it was a flu season in winter as soon as he finished he put the tissue in his pocket and touched the knife and started cutting the meat in a kebab shop.
Especially ones that wipe their arses with their hands!
Chefs don't generally use gloves, not even in high-end restaurants. A lot of chefs consider it more hygenic to just keep washing their hands instead.
Dave Holt and don’t wash their hands.

A public health risk is eating takeaways in the first place
Hygiene inspection should come more often to reduce the risk
its wrong that they dont display hygiene ratings, or at least check out the premises doing the cooking first, as far as it looks Just eat just want more restaurants for more profit, the fact they say "Call the restaurant if you have any allergy and they can confirm if its safe" then the restaurant aren't even sure if there wheat in there noodles is astronomically dangerous, as they could literally kill someone, Just eat should either display Hygiene ratings or do more detailed checks or innocent people may die... hiding behind the fact they're delivering food is not an excuse, when you buy a product of amazon they at least have measures in place to try and make sure unsafe products are sold on their platform, Just Eat seem to be doing the opposite and don't appear to care...
@@gd3lectron it's right, just eat only cares for profits over peoples health, it's why for Hunters takeaway is going to take over just eat and to make sure that more customers are safe when ordering. Whilst I agree with you, I think you are being too harsh. Her friend did make it clear that she was allergic to peanut. As someone who works in the legal profession, I would guess that the restaurant has had previous near misses which would have been documented hence the harsh penalty for not exercising due care and attention, resulting in the girl's death. If you are operating in the restaurant business the onus is on you as well to make sure you are careful especially if you have been given a heads up that one of your customers has an allergy. Personally, I would have refused to sell the food if I could not guarantee, after being warned, that the food was peanut free. We have seen the same tragedy in Pret.
I'm work as deliveroo rider and some restaurants are extremely filthy. I have seen chiefs smoking cigarettes and rolling pizza with other hand
Haha Classic Turkish takeaway behaviour
This was the panorama exposed video I was looking for.
I´d say it was equally irresponsible for a allergen suffer to trust any take away meal.
Why do so many people have these allergies. When I grew up in the 80s, no one had allergies, now we have all these people with so many problems.
I left my catering business 4 years ago just because of just eat, we did all the hard work and they got all our profit. I loved catering business and cooked my dished with highest hygiene and good quality ingredients.
We have Uber Eats, Grub Hub, here in my region in the US. I never order takeaway with those food delivery services. If I want takeaway, I actually go to Popeyes (fast food restaurant within a mile from me) and put in an order to go. I also learned to make General Tso chicken, a dish from Asian House a restaurant that is also within that same distance from me. Since 2019 with a certain situation that is ongoing even into 2022, I cook more at home than going out for takeaway
Clearly untrustworthy I mostly cook at home anyway and never have used those apps
Thanks for doing this guys! There needs to be new things implemented on these take always because the majority are disgusting hygiene wise, and us ordering have no idea. Keep up this good work.

Stopped eating takeaway after I got talking with a customer who does the food hygiene ratings for these places (excluding chippy's as she said they're mostly clean)
I absolutely refuse to use food delivery. I have no idea what’s happening to my food between the Restuarant and my home. It’s bad enough that I don’t know what’s happening in Restuarant kitchens.
I stopped using just eat when a takeaway that I use have a different more expensive plus smaller portions via just eat, than if you just order from the takeaway direct. It's ridiculous.
The government or local authority should do something about this it causing people to become ill it’s not always about allergy. Food can be food poisoning etc.
I'm always rather suspicious of middle man business and try to avoid it wherever I can. More often than not it's leech business. Just eat is just another one that confirms this. I'm glad I never uses them.
How can you have a ZERO rating and still be operating?

I’ve never understood the desire to order a takeaway. I love my own cooking 💯
Convenience..? Being too busy to cook..?
Emelda Knowles exactly, nothing beats it
i like to think people order takeaways when its a rare luxury meal or a convenience on a hectic night. but when those moments happen, i'd like to assume that i'd still be kickin after one unplanned meal ya know
hellowhitepeople but a rare luxury at the expense of a fine home cooked meal at a fraction of the price.
Also trying to explain the word ''dairy'' to foreign kitchen staff is exasperating lol.
Funy how people that say ''cook at home'' trust what's sold in stores and markets more that what's cooked in a store ... the problem is not take away. The problem is ordering from a place you never phisically visited before. We order from a place we visit from time to time and really really avoid ordering from place we never visited .
FFS just learn how to cook, how can people eat takeaways! It's quicker, cheaper, better for you, better quality etc etc etc to cook for yourself.
The exposure is the main reason why takeaways sign up with JE in the first place. They couldn't dream of having access to so many potential customers.
What? Learn to cook ethnic dishes as well as experienced chefs? Who has got the time for that?
@p m Not in 5 mins which you can do from takeaways
you cannot ban take-away food business, but you can increase taxes on such forms of business, and those additional taxes can be used to reduce taxes for food businesses which hire more employees as a practical economic encouragement for businesses to survive and expand
Background music and noise drowns out the commentary - difficult to hear.
And what is the relevance of that?
Panorama's standards have really fallen over the past decade, this is like student journalism.
*_"I think it's about Deliveroo putting their profits ahead of the communities"_*
That's why they're called for-profit and not for-people
In short - the best way for both the customer and the takeaway is to order directly from them. Cheaper too.
We are lazy to cook healthy food which is essential for us. It's basic need. We support these types of companies indirectly
Or buy a wok and learn how to make a frikking stirfry! It's literally less than 10 minutes to put together, and if you cook 2 cups of rice at a time, it will keep for 3-4 days easyly.
