Too many snakes at my place this year. I can’t deal with them, terrified. In rafters on patio eating the baby birds… under deck storage box keeping cool…
If you haven't already, you should experiment with making hot honey. Super easy to make and so delicious. It's amazing on fried chicken sandwiches, smoked turkey sandwiches, pork, pizza, cheeses, and almost everything that pairs well with a bit of sweet heat. I bet your vanilla extract customer base would be interested in trying it 😋
I am a hobbyist beekeeper and really only maintained 3-4 hives the last couple of years. But My friend needed a place to keep his 73 hives, so we formed a partnership. The hives he dropped off are thriving hives and with all this water we had this year everything is blooming like crazy. This means the bee colonies are reproducing like crazy and getting to big for the current hive boxes. When this happens the current queen in the hive takes half the bees and go find a new home. As beekeepers we always try to catch this before it happens. With so many hives it is impossible for us to know when each hive will do this. I have trees they love and when they fly out to move they land in the trees. I look out everyday watching for activity and when I see it I just give them a new home and 99% of the time they stay and I have a new hive. Any bees a I capture from his hives I keep and add to own collection of hives. I started off with 2 hives this year and now up to 10 hives of my own.
The laws are dumb I can't make mead if I am selling honey. I can make mead but then I can't sell honey it is dumb. I have made several test batches of mead in the past. You might see a label with our name on it but it will not be from us.

Never heard of it. Do you have a recipe?
Shane, you with those bees, you are the master, and I don't like snakes wither. Are you going to sell the honey?
Yes I will be selling our honey soon. Once I get my website up and running I will post a video with all the info.
Thanks for sharing. . . . and, yes, that is a stupid law. Now stupid question. Did the Bees escape from your own or ?
