Mostly find yellow-faced whips, small-eyed snakes the occasional juvie brown and red belly. I envy American herpers who seem to get 50+ snakes a day of at least 20 different species.

Hey Buds - Great Video. I'm here in Long Island and have a question: If the spot is loaded with fire ants, why don't you flip the board over and leave it (instead of flipping it backs). Wouldn't this make it more hospitable for snakes the next time you go to the spot?

How rare would a white rattler and a canebrake be in the Coastal area of South Carolina? The solid white red eyes was about 3 feet found underneath my lawn more. Given too a friend that’s a professor. Canebrake was unfortunately decapitated. I opened my large tool box it struck I slammed the lid. It was a dry bite at least and hated too kill it but reflexes.

Also where I am, how few species I have locally, really says something on how snake populations are doing near me. Def a lot of persecution going on, not to mention habitat loss and pollution. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me identify a snake I saw last fall. It was a young snake guessing about 8 inches long. I live in central Illinois. It was a tannish grey snake with dark bars and spots. From what I was able to look up. It could be bull snake, pine snake, milk snake, fox snake or rat snake. What I noticed the most was it's head. Looking at the head it looked the same shape as a python's. The images I've found don't show the shape of the head very well. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Also look up hecksher drive i believe thats the correct spelling head out going east from 295 when you get out to whats called little talbot island thats where it starts anywhere between there and fernandina is a hot spot , its got big pine snakes , indigos, red, greyand yellow rats the yellows 6 ft plus, eatern diamondbacks cottonmouths, and then of course racers and the list goes on, the only reason im giving this up is i have 3 kids im married and have moved to nc dont have time or money to herp away from home but i still hit these spots when i visit family. My strictly eastern spot is somewhere else, ive got quite a few spots my all time fav is the cottonmouth i dont give up these spots but ill tell you the biggest cottonmouth ive ever heard of was killed by a landscaping crew in baldwin florida it was massive looking in the pic i ve never heard of one this big but i swear it looked over 5 feet and had a huge head
