Sorry for my English, I used the google translator. It was because of your videos that I got two screwdrivers from my father-in-law. He throws them in the trash. I took it for myself, it's two Black and Decker, and fixed it. Both were without batteries, only the battery housing but without NiCd cells. I bought BMS cards and built them with lithium cells that I recovered from notebook batteries. It was cool, works super well. Thanks for your videos. See you!
Damn those new brushless upstarts. They will take over before you know it and nothing will be the same again! :) Good job gear show on making the new battery and refreshing the drill.
Excellent!! Would recommend using 303 Aerospace Protectant instead of spray wax, the stuff is absolute magic on plastics and rubber. Great video gear show!
Those high capacity lithium cells are really not suitable for this application. You are probably drawing too much current from them when the driver is heavily loaded. My suggestion is to use higher amp cells for this application. Nice video though!
I noticed that the board split when you inserted the screws. If you would try spinning them in reverse for a few secs, then drive them in, you would have fewer splitting problems.
Isn't 20A BMS is too small for a high load tool? I've seen Bosch 12V drills get choked on a dry start with 20A BMS. (edit) - that being said - I love your work, it's awesome and your videos are the best!
Michał Ziomek yes you are right 20a is small for drill you need more , i think the best way is make external cell charger with bms protection and regulator or 40a bms
Also the batteries used in the video can't really deliver 20A without getting crazy hot and possibly damaged in the process. Could even be dangerous. Those high capacity cells have high internal resistance and can only safely deliver maybe 3-5 amps.
The one he uses is $175 on Amazon. I have seen them new for around $100. Used prices are half that. You can also build a cheap diy version, just look it up on RUclips. *Look up cheap battery spot welder" on youtube. There is one for $25 that has good reviews.
Hi there....very nice to see what you are doing, very detailed. A few questions: what is the alternative for the machine at the 3:12 mark? Where do you order the plates and the stickers that you put on the batteries? All the best.

How much roughly in cost is it for you to rebuild and convert a battery pack like this? Also whats that awesome soldering machine called that you use to weld the battery connectors? Im new and still learning so i apologize if these are stupid questions.
How does the baking soda work on cleaning the plastic with hot water? Never seen that before but from watching a couple of your videos it seems to work well. Why this instead of any other cleaner?
Looked like it was baking soda, hot water and then powdered detergent. Baking soda is typically used for removing odors but it is also added to different products to help boost cleaning properties. Works great in laundry. If you can find "borax" it great on its own.
I ove these videos! :) I also upgraded some of my old tools with lithium batteries... but... but... where the hell do you get those "battery pack building" stickers and metal pieces?!?
Hi as wonderful as your videos are one catch you need to brush up please make the BMS connection clear and visible to understand you usual do that in a jiffy
this project costs MORE than a brand NEW lithium drill. those batteries are expensive. worst of all, many of these batteries are fakes, especially from amazon and ebay. not worth it.

I must of missed the part where he says to make sure to buy all your batteries from ebay and that this is a cost effective way of reviving dead battery packs. What do you like to do for fun? Because i can tell you its probably not worth it either yet you still do it, atleast this guy is saving these tools from going into landfills and providing educational content.
If you slow-start the tool it may run, but basically this 20A bms cuts off the current too early. Try 35A or 40A - depending on what you can get access to.

Yes, at 10:32 I forgot the strap.
Great job. I really liked how You fix this Batteries and converted to lithium but here they will cost to much money

Rather than use the spot welder could the tabs be soldered on?
never ever attempt to solder battery cells. theres a reason to use the spot welder: this welds instantly with no heat. heating a lithium cell == boom!
Could you put a link from where you acquire the batteries?
Hi.. what's the deference between enhanced and balanced version of battery board ?
where to buy that circuit board connected to the lithium batteries? without it, will the drill works?
That's called a BMS board. Just search for it on eBay, and make sure It suits how many cells your using and amperage draw
I understand the battery upgrade, but how do I charge it now? Because Li-on will not charge with the original charger from this winch
It's in the video at the end
did you modify the original charger?

You can find them on Aliexpress, Amazon etc.
10.6V, not 12V. after you charge the battery, of course you will measure 4.2V....but next day it will be 3.6V/3.7V
The voltage of a lithium cell reflects its state of charge. It goes from around 4.2V when fully charged down to around 3.0V when discharged.
Good for you to show this, it's only been done 10.000 times before! :-)
