    Great vid, thanks.
    I've replaced the battery in my Seamaster 3 times in the 15 years that I've owned it, and it has run flawlessly.
    The last time I replaced the battery was 2 months ago, and yesterday it started giving me the low battery signal (skipping 4 seconds at a time).
    I hope it was just a dud battery, and not a problem with the movement.

    • @watchesandjewelry
      @watchesandjewelry  3 года назад +1

      If you get the low battery indication, 99% you have a bad battery. Normal symptoms of the watch going bad is that it will stop for a period of time and then start again.

    I'm guessing you will replace the Omega movement into the watch after the video. The ETA 'equivalent' is a much lower grade unit than the high quality Omega version. ETA make movements in several grades of finish and the one you have fitted is at best the elabore.which lacks the quality of finish and decoration of the Omega. When I've done 'swaps', it generally means swapping the needed parts over, rather than a straight movement swap. Movement swaps are for cheap Citizen units etc, as a rule. The issue can only be in the circuit, coil or train...so, swap them over!

      @binkyboobosh1 3 года назад +2

      @@juslitor Maybe, but, I've found that the watchmaker generally advises what can be done to the watch and I would suggest that most customers would prefer the original, repaired movement rather than a generic, lower grade unit in a watch like this which could realise £1000+ on ebay. I think the customer's wishes may be more important when it comes to cost. Some just say do what you can to get it going, whilst others want good as new. I'll be working on a number of watches today which the customer just wants fixing up to sell and cheap movement replacement would apply here, if necessary.

    • @watchesandjewelry
      @watchesandjewelry  2 года назад +2

      The answer is an astounding. Maybe. Many manufacturers of movements follow size standards. However, cases for quarts watches and mechanical watches are often not compatible with each other. It would require a lot of modifications to fit certain styles of watches in certain cases. The hands and dials are almost never compatible, and would also need to be modified or changed. Case rings or movement holders inside the watch would need to be made or modified to accommodate the position of the stem. Probably not something that would be practical but is sometimes possible.
